Just before my due date, I found out I needed a C-section because my baby was breech. I wasn’t prepared at all and felt so stressed, especially since all of our family lives abroad and we had no extra help. I decided to look for a doula only a few days before the surgery. Honestly, the idea felt a bit strange to me at first because I’m a very active person and it’s usually hard for me to ask for help or feel comfortable with a stranger in my home. I scheduled a trial day with Alla, and I immediately felt a strong connection. She is such an amazing person and it’s so clear how much she loves her job and loves babies. Beyond being professional, she was so much fun to talk to! She is incredibly dedicated and did absolutely everything she could to make sure I was resting. She took care of so many things around the house without me even having to ask, helped with the baby’s first bath, and prepared healthy food and delicious desserts. She supported me, the baby, and the household all at once. She turned the first week - which is usually the most difficult and painful - into a truly positive experience. I can’t recommend her enough; if she is available, don’t think twice!

Welcome to my journey! Growing up on a farm in Wheatland County, Alberta, Canada, taught me the value of hard work and perseverance early on. My dream of becoming a birth worker may have seemed distant at times, but it became a reality when I discovered the impactful role of a doula. I signed up for the Birth Belongs to Women mentorship, learning through women is truely so important to me. Being present for the miraculous moment of birth is beyond words, and I take great pride in supporting women during such vulnerable times. I firmly believe that every woman deserves to be honoured and cared for, and I am dedicated to providing gentleness, kindness, and reassurance throughout the process. Birth is not just about the arrival of a new baby; it is equally about honouring the mother and her unique experience. When I’m not attending births, I’m busy caring for my animals, including my goats and Texas Longhorn/Highland cattle. I cherish my time with my dogs, Mena and Major, and my calf, Violet. I also enjoy unwinding by the fire, painting, capturing beautiful moments through photography, or playing the piano. My mission is to serve women as a sister and nurture them as a true friend in their incredible journey. I am serving Strathmore and the greater Calgary area

Josie has such a beautiful heart and calming presence. It’s been an honour to work alongside her in the world of birth keeping. She is incredibly compassionate, caring, and ready to connect with each of her clients like a sister would. Her presence brings warmth to any room she enters. When Josie attended my homebirth, she was such a gift to have with us! She’s wonderful at not only supporting mum and baby, but the entire family. Ready hands to help where needed and she bakes the yummiest snacks! Josie blesses each family she serves, and I’m grateful to know such a heart centered doula. You’d be in loving hands with her.

Kate Zeiler

Cayla and Kate are the logical choice if you are looking for unique, comprehensive, personalized care that expands your team of support and expertise even further. Joining forces, they bring together their years of experience, additional education (lactation and feeding, infant sleep, and childbirth education), and passion for empowering families and their individual needs, values, and preferences. Cayla and Kate often get asked how they met. Kate was looking for doula support for the birth of her second child. During the consultation, Kate immediately felt her warmth and knew she was the right doula for her. Cayla supported Kate through her VBAC which left her feeling empowered and confident, having Cayla by her side helped Kate heal the trauma from her first birth. This changed Kate’s career path, and from the beginning of her journey as a doula, she’s been working with the Cayla and the Welcome Baby Co. team. When Cayla decided working in a partnership was the next step in her doula career, she knew Kate was the perfect match. When they’re off call, they’re time is filled with rest and being with their families. Kate recharges by being outdoors, riding bikes with her family through Fish Creek, camping, or finding a new coffee shop with a park close by. She always has a craft project on the go, usually to do with the upcoming holiday. Crocheting Halloween ghosts and sanding the trunk of a fallen tree to make a side table have been some of her favorite projects. Cayla can be found at the dog park with her dog Tom, tending to her large urban garden, canning rhubarb jam, salsa or pickled carrots, and camping with her family in their camper trailer. Welcome Baby Co. has brought her a lot of fulfillment in her work life, and she’s working on slowing down and enjoying the small moments in her personal life. As your doulas, you can count on an evidence-based and compassionate approach, working to support you in having your best birth and postpartum experience. We understand that every birthing journey is unique and unpredictable, and we are here to help you prepare for and navigate all the paths it could go down. As the adventure unfolds, we will be there to offer guidance, reassurance, and ensure that you feel empowered and well-cared for.

Kate was an absolute blessing throughout our pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum journey. From the very first meeting, she brought such warmth, calm, and reassurance that made us feel instantly supported. During labor, her presence was everything we needed—steady, comforting, and full of care. She anticipated our needs before we even voiced them and helped us navigate every moment with confidence. We can’t imagine going through this experience without her and know we’ll have her by our side for all our future babies. Truly an angel on Earth!

Hello! I’m Nicole, a Birth and Postpartum Doula based in Calgary, Alberta. My motto is simple: Your body. Your baby. YOUR choice. Period. Every human deserves full autonomy over their body—and my role as a doula is to walk beside you through life’s beginnings, endings, and everything in between. Alongside birth and postpartum care, I also serve as an End-of-Life Doula and am expanding my training in infertility, pregnancy, and infant loss support. In addition to being obsessed with babies—just call me the baby whisperer—I’m an animal lover, nature enthusiast, and strong advocate for “bringing back the village.” My practice is rooted in respect for all identities and lived experiences, with a focus on creating compassionate spaces where every voice is celebrated. Supporting families through birth and postpartum is both an honour and a calling I hold close to my heart. Through my own journey of learning how to advocate for myself and navigate our healthcare system, I understand how vital it is to feel heard and respected. My goal is to help give people their voice back—offering unbiased, non-judgmental support, evidence-based information, and personalized care, from prenatal visits and continuous labour support to postpartum guidance and community referrals. I’m especially passionate about serving underserved communities, advocating for inclusive, equitable care, and supporting those who’ve felt dismissed or unheard in healthcare settings. Outside of doula work, I enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, travelling, and going on adventures with my partner and our dog. I firmly believe everyone deserves compassionate support, which is why I offer a sliding scale for my services—making doula care accessible to all families.

Lindsey was the emotional and physical support that I wish I would have had with my first baby! Birth is an out of this world experience, and Lindsey’s touch and voice brought me back into my body. She was so sweet and nurturing and I felt so well taken care of the whole time. I couldn’t have done it without her.
