Hello everyone! My name is Parul, and I’m a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula based in Chicago, Illinois. I’m originally from Mississippi and have called Chicago home since 2009. I’m also a proud mom to a 21-year-old son! My journey into doula work grew from my passion for holistic wellness, mental health, and the connection between mind, body, and soul. Before becoming a doula, I worked as a holistic practitioner specializing in mental wellness and food as medicine, and these passions continue to influence the way I support families today. I believe nourishment, education, emotional well-being, and feeling supported all play an important role in the pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. I especially enjoy supporting mothers who desire an unmedicated birth and helping them feel prepared, confident, and empowered through education, comfort measures, and holistic practices. I also love incorporating my knowledge of nutrition, Ayurveda, and mindfulness into my work with families. Outside of doula work, I love traveling, cooking, discovering new foods and cultures, and spending quality time with my friends and family. I’m a big believer in enjoying life’s experiences, continuing to learn, and always finding ways to grow both personally and professionally.

I am so relieved and happy that we chose Parul to be our doula. From our first contact, she was extremely responsive, clear, thorough, warm, and supportive in her communication with us. Her knowledge of the birthing process and preparation is unparalleled and i felt so much more confident going into my delivery with her by my side. At the hospital she was an amazing advocate who helped to ensure our birth plan was honored as closely as possible by our doctor. She was also a huge support during the birth when I needed some encouragement to keep pushing. She also spent a lot of time getting to know us personally which helped pass the time in the hospital. Overall I couldn’t recommend Parul more. When we prepare for our next baby I will definitely work with her again!

Brittany Hourston

I have an immense love for the tiny humans of our world! It's the little scrunch of a newborn waking up, the babbling conversations, or the discovery of their fingers and toes. This stage of life is so precious that most parents miss a good portion of it because you are overwhelmed with the ins and outs of life. Once you spot those precious moments, the whole day reorganizes itself around them. Those are the kinds of things I teach, and it comes from being a preschool teacher prior to becoming a postpartum doula. Professionally, child development is where I come from. My role is not something I've picked up in a weekend workshop, but through years of experience and training. As your support system, I come in to engage with some of the following: take the night shift or the morning one, get you real sleep, help with feedings, put the kitchen back together, organize the baby's things, and help your older child figure out who they are now. What I don't do is judge how you feed your baby, tell you the "right" way to do anything, or leave you dependent on me. My postpartum doula practice operates in the Chicagoland area. You will receive help navigating the fourth trimester to build your confidence and ensure your baby's environment & developmental journey are actively fostering their cognitive, motor, and sensory skills from day one.

Mia Willis

It is an honor to be here. My name is Mia Willis, a Chicago-based birth worker, educator, and founder of Sorin Motherhouse—a maternal practice devoted to the protection, becoming, and realignment of the mother. Sorin Motherhouse is built on the belief that maternal care is sacred work, not a service industry. My approach to birth and maternal care is relational rather than transactional, grounded in presence, discernment, and sovereignty over saviorism. My work is informed by lived experience, research-backed training, and clinical practice, honoring the mother as the primary site of wisdom and transformation. I hold training in traditional birth work and budding herbalism alongside modernized birth support, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care that is respectful of diverse lived realities. My practice also includes foundational education in nutrition and lactation support during pregnancy and the fourth trimester. I have served over seventy families as a full-spectrum doula, holding space across a wide range of birth experiences with care, steadiness and integrity. Sorin Motherhouse is carefully curated maternal space for those who approach birth as a rite and maternal care as a serious, embodied charge. It centers mothers who enter pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood with the understanding that becoming requires intention, rest, and deep respect. This work is rooted, discerning, and intentionally held—by design. I look forward to connecting with you.

I have raved about Mia for years. I will continue to rave about Mia for the years to come. Absolutely amazing. I was one of her very first mothers and she has helped me welcome two of my little ones earth side. Care is phenomenal. She is patient, she is a leader. And she is a hardworking, my last delivery, she was right there waddling alongside me, helping me bring forth life, while she carried one of her own. I will forever have her as a doula. I love her and I know anyone else that welcomes her care, will as well.

Hi, I’m Marlene, a certified postpartum doula based in Chicago with over 15 years of experience supporting children and families. My professional journey began in childcare, where I gained extensive hands on experience through babysitting, professional nannying, international au pair work, and early childhood education. As my experience and passion for supporting families grew, I transitioned that strong foundation into postpartum and newborn care. Today, I bring the knowledge and perspective gained throughout my career into my postpartum doula practice, supporting families as they adjust to life with a new baby. I am DONA trained, certified through Birth and Baby University’s cross training program, CPR and First Aid certified, NICU trained, and currently pursuing a Holistic Infant Sleep Certification. Marlene was such a blessing for our new family. She provided overnight support for our newborn from birth until ~6 weeks. Since this was our first baby, she immediately made us feel at ease and supported with her warmth and friendliness. Marlene is very professional: was always on time, followed our lead/routines, and offered a wealth of knowledge and advice when asked. She provided us tips for soothing, feeding, and sleep shaping to encourage longer stretches of overnight sleep (which was so valuable for us as new parents!) based on what she observed with our daughter. It is so clear that she is extremely experienced and absolutely adores what she does. We cannot thank her enough for supporting us in the early weeks - it made a world of difference in adjusting to our new lives as parents. I would recommend her to anybody who needs postpartum or family support, day or night!

Darnicia Holt

Hey! I’m Darnicia, a full-spectrum doula, birth mindset educator, and reproductive justice advocate. TL;DR From organizing protests and fighting for social justice to shutting down systemic abuse, violence, and oppression in the medicalized perinatal care system. My passion? Teaching incredible birthing people — like you — how to trust your intuition❤️‍🔥 and advocate for your autonomy,🗣️ so you feel ✨empowered to be the authority of all your reproductive experiences✨ — fertility to postpartum (or not being pregnant at all). 👀 A little more info… To me, birthwork is inherently linked to social justice and activism. Birthwork is advocacy, and advocacy follows you through every aspect of your life. Therefore, advocacy isn’t something you learn; it’s who you are. I’ve taken what I’ve learned in my years as a social justice organizer and have applied it to birthwork. Sometimes, the fight for my clients to have the reproductive outcomes they desire mirrors the intensity I’ve seen when organizing for human rights. When necessary, I use the same energy it takes to shut down streets and apply it to protect my clients’ experience. What does this mean for you? I have the heart and the skills to fight for your dream birth or whatever support you need. But no worries, I’ll only fight to whatever extent you need or are comfortable with. ☺️ The foundation of the doula role is about the person you are. I am an advocate. Fun facts: I’m a wife and Mom of two. I’m a HUGE Marvel/MCU fan. I L😍VE Thai Iced Tea and mushroom coffee 🍄☕.

Darnicia helped us with postpartum care for our newborn and we are grateful beyond measure for her support and expertise. She is very kind, calming, and has a high degree of knowledge. She is such a warm person and we felt well cared for alongside our baby. In the matter of a few weeks, we went from frazzled new parents to having a baby who sleeps through the night multiple nights per week. I highly recommend Darnicia for postpartum care for anyone who is looking to establish healthy routines for their baby and wants to feel very supported in the process.

We cannot recommend Malika highly enough. For the past six weeks, she cared for our newborn overnight and was truly incredible. She was always punctual and reliable, which gave us complete peace of mind during such a vulnerable time. She is kind, compassionate, and cared for our baby with so much patience and love, while also supporting us as new parents. She quickly became part of our family during the newborn bubble, and her care felt deeply personal. Thanks to her experience and consistency, our baby was down to just one wake-up during a 12-hour night by six weeks old — which felt life-changing. We are so grateful for her support and would recommend her without hesitation to any family.

Moniqueca is truly a master of her work. She was our Doula back in 2023 for Baby Rumi is soon gonna be three. Her classes prepared me to know what to expect as well as advocate for myself in the hospital. I remember it so vividly being around 5 cm dilated, doctors rushing in telling me that my daughters heart rate was too high and they might have to do a c-section. I called my Doula Moniqueca and she told me some turn the music on and to twerk my baby out. 3 mins later I felt the catheter pushing out of me and my baby's head coming through the birth canal lol. I told her dad to get the nurses because this baby was coming NOW!!! After 10 mins of pushing my beautiful babygirl was born and she is so smart and kind. I feel that having such a great doula contributed to this. Do yourself a favor and let her assist you with preparing for your bundle of joy.

I had such an amazing experience with Tamanno as my Doula. I was about 35 weeks and nearing the end of my pregnancy after a big move across states. I was overwhelmed trying to find a doula last minute , in a new state. I found Tamy through my insurance and we both Immediately found out that we were the right fit . I spoke about my birth story and what I was trying for. Tamy let me know her experience and how she would support me . She visited me in my home to meet and she made a very detailed birth plan for me. She also showed me the tools she uses to help with laboring. Such as : a labor comb, a ball and essential oils. She even purchased a eucalyptus oil for me, per my request. She went above and beyond before my labor and I felt supported and prepared before birth. Once labor started Tamy came to the hospital so fast. She made sure I was comfortable and all my needs were met and that the nurses and doctors were on the same page as me . She was there for every contraction holding my hand and fanning me. She massaged me and helped me labor in the tub, and helped me labor on the ball. I had a foley bulb for a few hours and even through the pain she took her time to talk to me and helped me not focus on the pain but the end goal. I felt so supported , heard and prepared with Tamanno as my Doula. She was so caring , understanding and nurturing . I labored for close to 36 hours and she was there for me every minute . Her communication is superb and she even helped my family who helped me and came to visit. I would recommend her a million times over . She will listen to your needs and make sure you get everything you ask for as long as its safe. She looks out for you and will speak up if she wants to suggest or recommend anything that will help you. You will not regret her services. I had a great birth experience because of Tamy. I hope she can be my doula for future pregnancies as well!

We had such a wonderful experience working with Rebecca! She helped us get our 15-month-old on a consistent and steady sleep schedule, and the difference has been amazing. She was knowledgeable, patient, supportive, and really took the time to understand our child’s individual needs. The strides our little one has made in learning to sleep independently has been a game changer for our family!
