The cost of a midwife in Bowling Green, KY can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Kentucky Medicaid covers care provided by certified nurse-midwives, including prenatal visits, delivery, and postpartum services, because these clinicians are a required Medicaid benefit nationwide. Coverage for licensed or certified professional midwives at home or in birth centers depends on the member’s plan and is not guaranteed across Kentucky. Options around Bowling Green are limited, with two midwives listed within 60 miles. Private insurance benefits also vary, so confirm network status and covered services with your insurer.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Bowling Green, KY, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. My name is Abalonia Leavitt. I am a mother of five beautiful children, married, driven , passionate. I love traveling especially as a midwife. I enjoy watching TV spending, time with my children and, taking vacations. I've had a passion for conception pregnancy and birth since I was a teenager. I would spend hours in the library researching and learning about embryology, neonatology and, obstetrics. As a mother, I know how important it is to have quality care, more importantly to feel heard. feeling empowered, Informed. like an ally you can rely on! You shouldn't have to feel like you're fighting against your beliefs and intuition. Most importantly you want what's best for your baby. Some season practitioners are stuck in their ways I'm trying to bridge that Gap between hospital being a normality back to Midwifery being the sole purpose and providers for pregnancy aside from high risk pregnancies. I aim to lower mortality and morbidity rates among women and babies in the United States. I provide quality evidence-based care. I believe that "No one cares how much you know until, they know how much you care! At Leavitt's Itty-Bitty Delivery that is our commitment to our clients. With over 10 years of experience in the birthing field over 30 certifications, I strive to find answers and question everything with or without clinical trials, ACOG recommended standard of care. I meet my clients where they are, not on a spectrum that places all we knew and know about midwifery today on a sliding scale! I aim to break those barriers and get answers to all things prenatal, postpartum and newborn assessments and unnecessary treatments given due to protocols and policies that protect themselves and not the patients. I am also accredited A on the Better Business Bureau, WebMD, Vitals and several other sites. I have served my community for free in the past if insurance was not covered. I am unable to provide free services for births, I try to make up by working with your budget and will try for out-of-pocket reimbursements from insurance. I also serve the Elite communities as well. I offer a one of a kind genetic testing, Mommy care kits, Parenting courses, prep for Midwifery entry trainings, NRP, BLS, BBP, STABLE and, PALS. From the perspective of the husband, Julia’s help was invaluable. I cannot describe the emotionally charged helplessness you feel as you watch your wife, partner, go through this incredibly intense process, often with no idea of how, or even if you can assist. Julia knew exactly how I could assist, expressed it gently and direct. She helped us negotiate with the hospital staff respectfully. She was incredible at managing my wife’s moments of pain and fear. She brought snacks. The woman’s a rockstar. I would 100% recommend having a doula, and I would 100% recommend it be this woman.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Heidi and the role she played in bringing our sweet Mila into the world! Our story with Heidi actually began during a previous pregnancy that unfortunately did not work out. Heidi was incredibly kind and compassionate through that experience and refunded the money we had paid her. We told her that when we were lucky enough to become pregnant again, we would be back; and although it took us a while to get there, we kept that promise. Throughout my pregnancy with Mila, Heidi was informative, supportive, and involved. She held classes with us, came to our home several times, and truly took the time to get to know us. By delivery day, she felt like someone we knew and completely trusted. During labor, Heidi was incredible. I was especially nervous about the epidural, and she stayed right beside me, keeping me calm and reassuring me. She used different techniques, positions, and comfort measures to help relieve pain and stress, and when we were faced with decisions, having her there to help us understand our options was invaluable. One of the most meaningful moments for my husband came right after Mila was born. Heidi guided him to go be with Mila while she stayed with me. In such an overwhelming moment, he wouldn’t have known what to do otherwise. Because of her, he was able to be there for those first moments with our daughter while knowing I wasn’t alone. After everything it took for us to finally welcome Mila, having Heidi by our side made the experience even more special. We will always be grateful that she is part of Mila’s birth story and could not recommend her enough!

Hi there, I am a home birth midwife who has been practicing since 2011. I have recently relocated from South Florida and have opened my availability to serve families in need of a birth doula, postpartum doula, lactation assistance and more while my home birth practice builds up in a new state. In my home birth practice I offer water birth, 70% of my clients choose to give birth in the water). You have freedom to labor and birth in any position you want, you are encouraged to eat and drink in labor, any decisions during your prenatal, birth and postpartum care are up to you. I can hep guide you but you are welcome to refuse almost anything in my care. This is your birth! I have extensive experience with breastfeeding, twins, newborns, etc. I love nurturing and educating families during pregnancy and the postpartum period. This time can be confusing for new parents but having someone to answer questions and provide support is crucial to making this an empowering experience. I’d love to be able to work with your family if we are a good fit. Feel free to reach out, I love to give information over the phone and offer complimentary, in person consultations.

Christa has an amazing heart, she was there to help answer whatever questions I had and put my mind at ease. I got a few hours of sleep while she cared for my baby and then helped with breastfeeding when my baby was ready to nurse. She helped me resolve some nursing concerns and before I knew it my baby was latching without a problem and with no more pain! I would recommend Christa to any new moms!

Mrs. Jorie was such a big help to me during my postpartum aftercare after having my daughter. She made me feel supported and cared for during a time that can honestly feel overwhelming. She was patient, kind, and easy to talk to, which made a big difference for me. I appreciated her for being there for support and helping me through that transition after birth. You can tell she truly cares about the families she works with. I would definitely recommend Jorie-Brae to any mom who needs extra support during postpartum!!

I met Gina TWO weeks before my due date, but she managed to make me feel like she had been there my entire pregnancy. Gina made sure I knew I had options and a CHOICE. My milk didn't come in until 8 days later, which was a true struggle for me mentally. Gina was there every step on the way- teaching me and encouraging me. I am now 3months pp and I use Gina as my google search engine for all things breastfeeding/breastmilk related. Lol. Gina is kind, patient, professional, calm, incredibly knowledgeable, and a true advocate to have in your corner. I would have given up on my breastfeeding journey if it had not been for her! I can't thank her enough for everything she has done and does for me. Gina is someone you need in your corner.
