We cannot say enough wonderful things about Heidi and the role she played in bringing our sweet Mila into the world! Our story with Heidi actually began during a previous pregnancy that unfortunately did not work out. Heidi was incredibly kind and compassionate through that experience and refunded the money we had paid her. We told her that when we were lucky enough to become pregnant again, we would be back; and although it took us a while to get there, we kept that promise. Throughout my pregnancy with Mila, Heidi was informative, supportive, and involved. She held classes with us, came to our home several times, and truly took the time to get to know us. By delivery day, she felt like someone we knew and completely trusted. During labor, Heidi was incredible. I was especially nervous about the epidural, and she stayed right beside me, keeping me calm and reassuring me. She used different techniques, positions, and comfort measures to help relieve pain and stress, and when we were faced with decisions, having her there to help us understand our options was invaluable. One of the most meaningful moments for my husband came right after Mila was born. Heidi guided him to go be with Mila while she stayed with me. In such an overwhelming moment, he wouldn’t have known what to do otherwise. Because of her, he was able to be there for those first moments with our daughter while knowing I wasn’t alone. After everything it took for us to finally welcome Mila, having Heidi by our side made the experience even more special. We will always be grateful that she is part of Mila’s birth story and could not recommend her enough!

Dez Skalski

I began my doula career in 2021 and have since supported more than 100 families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and the transition into early parenthood. My clients have ranged from young and underserved parents navigating pregnancy with limited support to experienced parents welcoming their third baby. Through my experiences, the work I continually found myself drawn back to is education, especially helping first-time parents make sense of an experience that can feel incredibly overwhelming from the outside. Over the years, that passion has expanded beyond birth support into childbirth education, postpartum care, newborn education, and pediatric sleep.

We worked with Dez as a night nurse when our newborn was just a few weeks old, and we couldn’t have been happier with her care. She was professional, calm, dependable, and incredibly dedicated to helping both our baby and our family. What really made Dez stand out from others we had worked with was her ability to troubleshoot challenges as they came up. She brought a wealth of knowledge and insight, and she was always willing to share practical guidance that helped us better understand our baby’s needs and, ultimately, become a better sleeper. We always felt that our baby was in excellent hands, which gave us the peace of mind we needed during those early weeks/months. We would wholeheartedly recommend Dez to any family looking for a knowledgeable, caring, and trustworthy member of their childcare team!

As first-time parents living in a new state without family or friends nearby, we knew we wanted extra support during pregnancy and birth. We had heard about the benefits of hiring a doula for labor and delivery, but what we didn't realize until we met Jorie was how much support a doula truly provides before, during, and long after birth. Around five months into my pregnancy, we interviewed three doulas to make sure we found someone who was the right fit. We instantly connected with Jorie. Her kindness, communication style, and depth of knowledge immediately put us at ease, and we hired her on the spot. After meeting for coffee, Jorie came to our home to get to know us, meet our dogs, and see us in our own environment. She provided educational resources during our visits and followed up with thoughtful emails so we could continue learning and revisit information whenever we needed it. She helped guide us through creating our birth plan, ensuring we understood all of our options so we could make informed decisions and set realistic expectations for ourselves. One of the greatest gifts Jorie gave us was helping us build our support team beyond our OB-GYN, primary care provider, and pediatrician. She encouraged us to connect with an IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), a lymphatic drainage specialist, and a pelvic floor therapist before birth. Those professionals, along with Jorie, became an integral part of our care. Their expertise helped us not only navigate pregnancy but truly thrive throughout postpartum. When it came time for our hospital birth, Jorie was there every step of the way. She carefully documented details from our birth experience and, a few weeks later, met with us to walk through our birth story. That conversation was incredibly healing. She helped fill in gaps from moments we couldn't fully remember, process our experience, and find closure. Having that opportunity allowed us to move into the postpartum chapter with greater confidence and peace. What continues to amaze me is that Jorie's support didn't end there. She has stayed in touch throughout the years, checking in on us and our little boy, who is now turning two. She has become part of our family's story, and we love her dearly. If you're on the fence about hiring a doula, I encourage you to meet Jorie for a cup of coffee and learn more about what she offers. I also encourage you not to let cost be the only factor that keeps you from exploring doula support. Looking back, the guidance, education, advocacy, and care we received before, during, and after birth were some of the most valuable investments we made as new parents. Jorie's impact on our family has been immeasurable, and I cannot recommend her highly enough as both a doula and future IBCLC.

You shouldn't have to feel like you're fighting against your beliefs and intuition. Most importantly you want what's best for your baby. I aim to break those barriers and get answers to all things prenatal, postpartum and newborn assessments and unnecessary treatments given due to protocols and policies that protect themselves and not the patients. I am also accredited A on the Better Business Bureau, WebMD, Vitals and several other sites. I have served my community for free in the past if insurance was not covered.
