With the birth of my niece in 2022, I began learning about the world of birth support and decided to take the jump into birth work at the start of 2025. In March, I trained as a doula with DONA at San Diego County Midwives, and knew I wanted to start my work in the volunteer space. Since May 2025, I have volunteered with UCSD's Hearts & Hands doula program and have logged over 150 hours on the Labor & Delivery floor as a badged member of the team, giving me invaluable hands-on experience for all types of births. I have continued my education in multiple areas including: -Peanut ball training with San Diego County Midwives -Spinning Babies® workshop -WIC's lactation seminar -Observed a 5-week Childbirth/Hypnobirthing course with The Birth Education Center. -I am trained in HIPAA protocols, hospital best practices, and am CPR certified. I have always had a passion for working with children and families. I grew up on a small island in the heart of the Florida Keys. From an early age, I began babysitting and nannying. Once I graduated from high school, I decided to major in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and returned to the Keys to teach elementary school. For 10 years, I worked with many families and children of different ages and abilities, including those with special needs. During this time, I also began practicing yoga and as cliché as it may sound, yoga changed my life. It has provided me with an outlet to focus the mind, control the breath, and explore and appreciate the body. I decided that I wanted to share the powerful and lasting benefits of this practice with others. I have studied hatha, vinyasa, yoga philosophy, meditation, standup paddleboard yoga, and pregnancy + postnatal yoga. It was during my pregnancy + postnatal yoga training that I became interested in becoming a doula. I am blessed to live in sunny San Diego, CA. I do call myself a midwest gal though, and grew up in various states. I graduated High School in Illinois and went to college in Indiana. My husband and I moved to San Diego in 2013 and never looked back. Our son was born in 2023, so we are currently navigating toddler-hood and all the joys that come with it. I also love dogs, and we lost our very beloved Pug in 2026. I have worked in corporate HR for 10+ years and believe the career transition to being a postpartum doula is exactly what the universe had planned for me. Outside of work (which no longer feels like "work") I love to be outside as much as possible - at parks, beaches, going on long walks, and finding any family friendly events going on around the city.
