A graduate of Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, she majored in Music and Theology and minored in Family Science. She is now fulfilling her dream of being doula and bringing the Lord into her work. When choosing a name for her business, Julia landed on the word "Selah". Selah is a Biblical word which appears mostly in the Psalms and means, "to pause and reflect." In Scripture, this gives the reader a chance to contemplate what they just read. In worship, this allows space to be still and silent to listen intently to the Lord. And in labor, this applies to the break in between contractions; a chance to pause, a chance to breathe, a chance to rest in the presence of the Lord. Julia is not only equipped with the knowledge to be a professional and educated birth worker, but she also sees birth work as a ministry.
