Yaffa and I love working as a team! Here's a recent review from a birth doula client: From the first time we met Shira, we felt more at ease about our birthing time. Upon meeting Shira it is obvious how sweet, caring, and smart she is. Shira is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and birth, and she is super humble about her approach. She is here for you to answer your questions and make you feel prepared and comfortable. She doesn't push any personal agenda, she is a calm and peaceful presence who will guide you like a warm mother would, and with confidence. Shira is open minded. She was directly by my side taking my lead during my first birth, and both of our first HypnoBabies experience. She was the expert support and extra hands I needed alongside my husband. I had mostly back labor and she helped with counter pressure, positioning, and movement for 24+ hours! She said yes to all any any requests I had. When I decided to get an epidural/induction, she helped make that choice easier. She constantly shared my birth plan with the hospital staff to ensure everyone was on board with my vision so I didn't have to. It was very reassuring having her there and I truly couldn't have done it without her. The birth ended up being absolutely beautiful, magical, and a holy experience that I would be lucky and blessed to do over and over again. Thank you Shira!!

Plain and simple: I love all things pregnancy! After working in the music industry for nearly ten years, I experienced a deep and abrupt shift in my life trajectory upon becoming pregnant. Prior to my pregnancy, I had already declared my path of Maternal & Neonatal Health in my DrPH program, but experiencing the true miracle we call life confirmed that Maternal & Neonatal Health are in fact a huge part of my purpose, even so much so that I was willing to partially cut ties with the music business to fulfill this duty. That’s why and how I’m here for you today — I truly believe I was called to do this work. I’ve always had an interest in the unknowns of pregnancy. I was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and have lived my life with a star-shaped G-tube patch and midline incision scar that represent the intersectionality of pregnancy, what can go wrong and how we can fix it. And upon marrying my husband, a heart transplant recipient, I became even more enthralled by the specialty of disease prevention in infants. Many wonder why I took the DrPH path as opposed to a traditional MD degree, and the truth is that nothing I’ve ever done in my life was conventional. It is my belief that addressing Maternal & Neonatal Health issues from the standpoint of public health practice is not only effective, but is also fulfilling. As a public health practitioner, I address the risks and patterns of pregnancy complications as a population-wide problem. I’m not a medical doctor because I am not interested in treating these conditions: I am a public health doctor because I am committed to preventing them altogether.

I am a full-spectrum doula, offering support in reproductive health, birth and labor, and postpartum care in Connecticut and Rhode Island. I love doula work because I deeply value the one-to-one relationships I build with clients, walking alongside them during one of the most important and transformative experiences of their lives. My passion for supporting, educating, and empowering people giving birth comes from my commitment to addressing the maternal and infant health disparities that disproportionately affect Black women. My goal is to help all birthing people—especially Black women—feel confident, informed, and supported by: learning to trust their bodies, learning to trust themselves to make informed decisions and advocate for the birth experience they desire, and receiving culturally responsive, non-clinical emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after birth. It would be an honor to support you on your birth journey. I work collaboratively with you and your support team to create an experience where you feel confident, informed, and surrounded by care, love, and respect. I welcome you to schedule a free, 30-minute consultation to help us get to know one another, decide if we're a good fit and so that I can also answer any questions you may have. Hi, my name is Kimberly. I am the manager of Gentle Beginnings LLC. I started my birth doula career back in 2020. I was a new mom and realized I had a passion for doula care and I decided to jump into it! Unfortunately, the pandemic made it quite difficult to attend births in person but that didn't stop me. Over the years, I learned many new families didn't just need a support person through birth but also for all the phases that followed. Currently I'm working towards my pediatric sleep consultant certification. My business partner, Evelyn, has 30+ years of experience as a nanny and newborn care specialist, and has recently been certified as a postpartum doula as well. We both decided it was time to start a new company that offered all the services! We look forward to helping you through any part of your journey as a new family and hope you choose us as your providers!

We are so thankful for Kim and her crew during those early months with our daughter. Even as a second time mom it is so helpful to have an extra set of seasoned eyes on your newborn. Our daughter was dealing with some gas issues. She was able to help us figure out what worked for our daughter. We adjusted her bottle and post feeding routine to help alleviate the gas. I also feel that they help lay the ground work for independent sleep which is such a blessing! We cannot thank them enough for the care they have provided for both of our children. If baby three ever happens, they will be our first call!

Chelsea Da Paz

Hi there! I'm Chelsea – a wife, stay-at-home parent of two, certified birth and postpartum doula, and babywearing educator based in Connecticut. With over two decades of experience working with children and families, my journey includes a master's degree in education and 11 years of teaching music to students from PreK through grade 12. My path to becoming a doula was inspired by the isolating and challenging nature of the postpartum months. Having navigated this journey myself, I realized the importance of support during this period. I aim to alleviate the isolation many face by offering guidance and understanding. Having been the first in my friend group to experience parenthood, I understand the complexities and uncertainties. My role is to provide a compass, steering you away from the confusing and sometimes overwhelming information available online. Join me in creating a supportive community, where I offer education, solidarity, empowerment, strength, and empathy to ease your transition into parenthood

Chelsea was referred to me by a postpartum doula in my first trimester. She was the only birth doula I interviewed because I knew right away that she was the right woman for the job: A no-BS, science-based, level-headed millennial with just the right dose of sarcasm. Ahead of birth, Chelsea visited with me and my husband twice to give us crash courses in labor/delivery, Spinning Baby techniques, and Baby Basics 101 (changing a diaper, installing and using a car seat, swaddling, and babywearing). Thanks to her prep, we felt far less anxious going into labor. At the hospital, it was clear that she has mastered the perfect balance of calm encouragement and strong advocacy with medical providers. She always stays professional, but is never afraid to push back on your behalf. I went through a pretty long and difficult labor but thanks to the support of Chelsea and her colleague Rachel, who joined us for the second half through delivery, I never felt afraid, powerless, or unsafe. After birth, we continued to retain Chelsea's services as long as we could as an overnight/postpartum doula, allowing my husband and I to get much-needed rest as we both went back to work immediately. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chelsea for any doula needs.
