I'm a seasoned mom of five living in mid Michigan, Certified ProDoula Labor Doula, soon to be certified Postpartum Doula with Lifespan Doulas, former La Leche League Leader, yoga teacher, mindfulness instructor, and creative coach. Between mothering and community care, my experience with all things parenting spans more than two decades. My practice focuses on supporting parents in identifying and living from their values, with accurate information, as well as growing through challenges skillfully. Depending on when we meet, that may start with pregnancy, birth and early parenting intentions - or it may include parenting through the teen years and other family transitions, and anything in between. My intention is to meet families where they are at, offering compassionate and constructive support for the journey. Hi I am Maria, and I came to doula work after working in childcare for 8 years. After spending time with parents who had relatively no postpartum care or support, I soon started my training to bridge that gap. I believe that the postpartum period is one of the most crucial stages of pregnancy. Many parents experience feelings of loneliness, confusion, and exhaustion and it is Maria’s top priority to help parents feel their best during your fourth trimester. Maria believes that every family who wants a doula should have one. Promoting a judgement free zone, she happily works with families and individuals of any age, race, & gender. I am a DONA-certified birth doula practicing in the Ann Arbor, MI area. I believe that doula support is a right, not a privilege, so my fees are nominal and my services are above and beyond. In addition to the usual DONA certification training, I am also trained through Survivor Moms and I also volunteer with the Michigan Prison Doula Initiative, in addition to my private practice. I have no time cut-off, so if your labor is moving slowly, I will stay with you all the way. I have been told that my kindness, compassion and ability to listen and advocate has been a godsend to many of my clients.
