I had a traumatic first birth that ended in an emergency c-section. Postpartum Recovery was even more difficult without the support I truly needed. When I was ready to try for a second baby, I miscarried. It took a lot out of me, to get the answers I needed to explain why I miscarried and to find a provider who was going to be safe for me. I knew I wanted a doula and the right birth team that would support me through a VBAC. My team heard me and created space for me to achieve a dream birth!

Meet Arizona licensed midwife Giuliana Pica, the passionate force behind Empowered Goddess Birth. She launched this inspiring venture in 2020, initially as a doula and childbirth education business, all while dreaming of evolving it into a vibrant home birth midwifery practice. In February 2021, Giuliana dove headfirst into her midwifery apprenticeship at a local birth center. There, she immersed herself in the art of midwifery, attending both birth center and home births, while learning from an accomplished array of preceptors—including licensed midwives, certified nurse midwives, and a community-based obstetrician. Fast forward to 2024, Giuliana proudly completed her training and passed both her national certification exam, and state licensing test, officially transforming Empowered Goddess Birth into her dream home birth midwifery practice. Giuliana maintains both CPR and NRP certifications, has attended a breech training workshop hosted by Breech Without Borders, completed a shoulder dystocia training course through Spinning Babies, and has attended 3 midwifery skills workshops hosted by the Midwifery Wisdom Collective. She is passionate about and committed to expanding her knowledge base. In the spring of 2024 she also welcomed earthside her first child, Odin. His home waterbirth was a deeply spiritual and soul nourishing experience. Since then, she’s been savoring every magical moment of motherhood alongside her partner Nicholas, as they embark on this beautiful adventure together. Giuliana believes deeply in the importance of intuitive, empowered healthcare, and is dedicated to supporting women and their families in their unique and transformative journeys, all while bringing a bit of magic and her own intuition to each experience.

Patricia Alatriste is an Arizona native. She has a background in nursing and through life experiences has found her passion as a doula. She loves educating, empowering and supporting families She believes that options and education are the key to having an exceptional birth experience. Her goal is to always help her clients know about evidence based practices during their pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum period. Helping the laboring women’s partner know how to effectively help the mother during her childbirth experience carries through to her postpartum work when helping new families in home. She believes the “teamwork” for couples begins in pregnancy and continues into the postpartum period. Creating that team atmosphere for her couples is always a priority.
