From the perspective of a mother, I have recognized the importance of the parent's mental and physical well-being. As a result, I have recently completed postpartum doula and lactation consultant training. While preparing for the international lactation examination, I continue to serve in each of these areas and feel passionate about supporting families transitioning from neonatal intensive care (NICU) to home. The exhaustion and emotional and physical trauma of parents at this stage is profound. My training in these areas allows me to weave these skills to support parents and newborns of all levels of need as a single provider.
