From the moment I met Liz she filled me up with excitement instead of fear. She reminded me that my body was made for this. Once I was in labor Liz did an amazing job making me feel like I was in control, it made the whole experience less scary. Liz was there every step of the way reminding me that I could do this. She was great at empowering my husband to be an amazing support for me. I truly believe her and my husband were the best team on earth. She allowed me to have a new level of appreciation for the man I am married to. I'm eternally grateful. I couldn't not have done this unmedicated natural birth without Liz. She brought a level of excitement and energy from the very beginning and kept it going till the very end. I'm grateful for the honey sticks and peppermint essential oil when I needed it the most too!! Will be needing you for our future bundle of joy.

Although I didn’t know it then, my journey towards becoming a doula began nearly 15 years ago with the birth of my first child. My labor and birth experience was far from empowering and while I was overjoyed to have my son, I always wished things had gone differently- that I had been listened to when I tried to assert myself, that I had been given alternative pain management options when I said I didn’t want an epidural, that the nurses and doctors had explained what they were doing and given me choices before just going ahead and doing it. I always wished that I had felt more in control in that delivery room. Flash forward 14 years to the birth of my second child, and things went exactly as I could have hoped for largely in part due to the team of amazing people I chose to surround myself with. I switched to a Midwife group that took the time to listen to me and honor all of my wishes; I chose a birthing center where I knew I would have plenty of options, but still have the safety and security of a hospital and NICU nearby should something go wrong; and I hired my doula! She made me feel safe, secure, listened to, and protected. She was there as my advocate (though I never had to use her as such because my Midwife was so amazing), she was there as a shoulder to lean on, and she made sure my wife and I had all that we needed during my labor and the birth of my daughter. Between kiddo number one and kiddo number two, a lot happened- 14 years worth of happenings! During that time in-between, I owned and operated Bloom Yoga Fitness Studios in Southington, CT. I taught thousands of hours of yoga- hundreds of them to pregnant clients. And I also became a Licensed Massage Therapist certified in Pregnancy Massage. My personal birth experiences, my decade of yoga teaching, my time as a massage therapist all led me to where I am today. I am now a Birth Doula working with clients in Hartford, New Haven and Middlesex counties. I still teach yoga and perform massage and you’ll see many of my doula offerings include yoga, meditation, and massage. I am passionate about birthing people making informed choices that feel right for them and it’s an honor to standby my clients as they take the amazing journey that is labor and birth.

I'll start by saying I interviewed at least a half dozen doulas and Bethany was the only one I felt a true connection with. She was so easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and comforting just from our first conversation. My goal was an unmedicated hospital birth, and she helped me feel so prepared and capable during our journey from the home visits to the hospital and all the texts in between. She's a plethora of knowledge and resources! She was awesome about checking in and always keeping an open line of communication and encouraging questions (which I had a lot of random ones along the way as a first time mom). My hospital birth couldn't have gone better - she was there before the doc rooting me on and advocating on my behalf throughout the prices. Our post partum visit was the therapy session I needed. I am so thankful for Bethany and her services. She does incredible work and was meant for her role! Vivian, Jason and I thank you!!

Welcome to Yes Doula! My name is Letisha McFarlane Hadley, and I am a DONA-trained Birth Doula, Bebo Mia trained Postpartum Doula, Certified Orgasmic Birth Practitioner, Mental Health First Aider and Co-Founder of Yes Doula, a New Jersey-based maternal wellness practice supporting families through both in-person and virtual care. My journey into birth work began at 21, when I supported my mother through her pregnancy and cesarean birth. Years later, I had the honor of supporting my sister through the births of my nieces. These experiences, along with my own three empowering and pleasurable births, sparked a deep calling to support other women and families through the transformative experience of birth. My perspective on birth shifted profoundly through the Orgasmic Birth Practitioner Program and Debra Pascali-Bonaro’s film, Orgasmic Birth: The Best Kept Secret. It became more clear to me, the powerful connection between birth, sensuality, love, and pleasure. This inspired me to share a different vision of birth: one that moves beyond fear and centers trust, connection, choice, and the body's innate wisdom. At Yes Doula, I believe every woman deserves to feel informed, supported, and empowered to make choices that reflect her needs and desires. Whether you are preparing for an unmedicated birth, a VBAC, an epidural-supported birth, or simply seeking a more connected and conscious birth experience, I am here to support you without judgment. I offer personalized in-person and virtual birth and postpartum support, meeting families where they are and providing care that fits their needs. From prenatal preparation and continuous labor support to newborn care guidance and the adjustment to life after birth, my goal is to help you feel supported throughout your journey. I also believe that partners deserve to be informed, included, and empowered. Through education, birth preparation, and partner support, I help families approach birth as a shared experience. How I Can Support You Birth Doula Support: ~Prenatal education, birth preparation, and personalized birth planning ~Emotional, physical, and informational support throughout labor and birth ~Comfort measures, breathing, movement, positioning, and relaxation techniques ~Support navigating your options and communicating your preferences ~Partner preparation and guidance Postpartum Doula Support: ~Emotional support and space to process your birth experience ~Newborn care guidance, including soothing, sleep, and daily rhythms ~Feeding support for breastfeeding, pumping, and bottle-feeding ~Practical, hands-on help as you settle into life with your baby ~Light household assistance related to baby care ~Support for partners and siblings as your family adjusts ~Help creating a calm, nurturing environment that encourages rest and recovery As a wife, mother of three, and lifelong caregiver, I understand that every birth and every family is unique. I truly cannot say enough amazing things about my experience with Marissa. From the very beginning, she was always there for me, answering all of my texts and calls whenever I had questions, concerns, or just needed reassurance. As a first time mom, having someone so knowledgeable, supportive, and caring by my side made such a difference. She helped me create a birth plan that reflected exactly what I wanted and made sure I felt informed and prepared. She guided me mentally as I prepared for a natural birth, while always allowing me to make my own decisions without any judgment. She supported my choices and empowered me to have the birth experience that felt right for me. When contractions started and I went into labor, she was nothing short of amazing. She remained calm, professional, and knew exactly how to help me through every moment. When I felt overwhelmed or like I couldn’t do it anymore, she reminded me of my strength and talked me through it. She held my hand when I needed comfort, helped position me in different ways to encourage labor to progress, and advocated for me whenever I needed her voice. She was also such a huge support for my husband. She helped him understand what was happening throughout labor and guided both of us through the process with confidence. During a time that can feel scary and unknown, especially as first time parents, she made us feel safe, supported, and prepared. I trusted her completely and felt so comfortable in her care and with her advice. She played such an important role in helping me have the birth experience I hoped for. I would highly recommend her to everyone I know, and I will absolutely be using her again when it’s time for baby number two!

I had the absolute best experience with Shellecia as my doula during my pregnancy with my daughter. From the very beginning, she made me feel supported, informed, and genuinely cared for. She came to my home and gave me so many tools to help me labor more comfortably, things I had never even heard of before. She took her time educating me, reassuring me, and easing every fear I had. One of the most helpful things she taught me and my partner were different positions and techniques we could use together to manage the intensity of contractions. They made such a difference when it was time to give birth. In the delivery room, Shellecia was truly my advocate. She asked important questions I didn’t even realize needed to be asked and was pretty much my voice entire process. Having her there felt like having a professional and a friend all in one. I’m so grateful for her guidance, knowledge, and calming presence. I highly recommend Shellecia to anyone looking for a doula she is truly amazing at what she does.
