My name is Janis Adams, I am a certified Labor Doula and I live near Atlanta. My background is in early childhood education. I am a mother of six and a grandmother of thirteen! I have worked in public school and currently hold a brokers license in Real Estate. Years ago, I went through labor and delivery with a couple I knew when they had their third child. Afterward both mom and dad thanked me for being the extra hands they needed! A week or so later T said, " You should think about becoming a Doula," you were so helpful! I thought to myself, "What's a Doula?" Since that time I have been involved with and supported many births over the years. The first time I ever went through birth as a support person was with my best friend 42 years ago; while I myself, was a week away from delivering my own first child. I have also been at the births of most of my grandchildren. I’ve also been there to assist, encourage and support my own daughters as they went through the birth experience for the first time. It was during the Pandemic that I enrolled and took courses to be come a labor doula. During that time the number of people that could be in the labor and delivery process was limited to just the mom and the dad unless you had a doula. One of my daughters and her husband were having their first child and they wanted me to be there. My daughter called and said to me that I had to become a doula! She gave me no choice! I am experienced with home births and water births. The things I do to relax are reading, gardening, sailing and traveling. Also, I have started a homeschool group and teach several students since the pandemic. In all, I have come full circle back to education but this time with adults and children!

Loved her, broke down everything very easily and went over a lot of experiences. Whether you’re at home, at her place or at the hospital. She’s indeed with you for the whole process. Even though my wife was the one having our son. Janis made sure everyone was comfortable and ofc I didn’t mind being evolved throughout the whole experience. I’m actually very pleased that Janis was our doula, and my wife loved her as well. Thank you again

Caring for mothers and newborns isn’t just what I do—it’s truly what I love. With several years of experience working on a Mother-Baby unit in the hospital, I’ve had the joy of caring for countless families during one of life’s most beautiful transitions. I believe every mom deserves to feel nurtured, supported, and never alone during the postpartum period. My goal is to create a peaceful, judgment-free space where you can rest, heal, and soak in all the precious moments with your new baby while knowing someone is there to support you every step of the way. Becoming a mother is one of life's most beautiful experiences — but also one of the most physically and emotionally demanding. Every mother deserves knowledgeable support, nourishing care, and time to heal. Hello! I'm Xuanqin Garrett, a certified Postpartum & Infant Care Doula (ProDoula, Cert. #PICD025127) serving the Metro Atlanta area. I have supported 8 families through the precious first weeks with their newborns, and I'd love to support yours. My Specialties Traditional Chinese Postpartum Meals — one of my greatest passions. I prepare authentic Chinese month-confinement meals: tonic chicken soup, traditional herbal teas (including Shenghua Tang to support postpartum recovery), and warm recovery dishes. I don't follow standard recipes — I customize every meal plan to each family's tastes, dietary needs, and cultural or faith traditions. Breastfeeding Support — the early weeks are often the hardest. Within my professional scope as a postpartum doula, I provide education, encouragement, comfort measures, and practical support, including gentle breast massage for fullness and engorgement. For medical concerns, I always refer to the mother's OB provider or an IBCLC. Gentle Recovery Care — relaxation massage for new moms (including cupping and moxibustion when appropriate), newborn care guidance, and light housework so you can rest and bond with your baby. My Schedule — daytime support (typically 6 hours/day in the first week, then 4–6 hours/day adjusted to your needs) and overnight care up to 2 nights per week. I hold a current AHA Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (adult/child/infant), and I speak Mandarin Chinese and English. It would be my privilege to walk alongside you as you welcome your newest family member.

When I got connected with Marissa, I just knew she was the right doula for me. I know there’s no such thing as perfect, but my spirit truly aligned with hers. I trusted God and felt at peace not choosing a backup doula, even though I had interviewed three. And I have no regrets. I was induced at 37 weeks, so I wasn’t able to fully follow my birthing plan. However, we had discussed it in depth, and she knew exactly what I wanted. Marissa was firm, supportive, and confident which I deeply appreciated. She wasn’t afraid to speak up for me. She made sure to ask me if decisions being made were truly what I wanted and ensured I understood everything happening. She also made sure she had all the information just like I did. I felt completely comfortable and safe with her. I didn’t feel like I had to track or manage everything because I knew she was doing that. She made sure I had water, juice, crackers everything I needed. I’m not used to being taken care of. I’m usually the strong friend, the one who handles everything on my own. So when Marissa was putting chapstick on my lips, socks on my feet, rubbing my back, and helping me stay comfortable, it honestly shocked me in the best way. It meant more than I can explain. Yes, she’s a doula but to me, it never felt like just a job to her. It felt genuine, loving, and intentional. I will always adore and appreciate her for how she showed up for me during one of the most important moments of my life.

I’m a Mother of 5 and have been a Birth and Postpartum Doula since 2005. I believe informed, supported families make confident decisions and that emotional safety matters just as much as physical care. My approach is calm, judgment-free, and deeply client-centered. I support families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with hands-on education, advocacy, and compassionate emotional support. I’m especially mindful of how past experiences, expectations, and birth trauma can shape the way someone moves through pregnancy and birth, and I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. I don’t believe there’s one “right” way to give birth. My role is to meet you where you are, help you understand your options, and support you in making decisions that feel aligned with your values. Whether you’re planning a low-intervention birth, navigating medical care, or processing a previous experience, I’m here to walk alongside you. When I’m not supporting families, you can usually find me staying active in the gym, learning more about holistic health, or soaking up time with my own family.

We highly recommend Julie! From day one, she brought such positive energy into our home, and her support during the early days with our newborn was truly invaluable.
