Hello, I’m Stormy McKinney, a birth doula serving families in Oregon. Supporting birthing people is more than a career for me—it’s a calling shaped by my own experiences, my heart for caregiving, and my deep belief that no one should ever feel alone during birth. My journey into birth work began after having two difficult birth experiences of my own. I didn’t have the support I needed, and I carried that feeling of being unheard and overwhelmed for a long time. Later, I spent years caring for my grandmother, and although I loved being there for her, after she passed I knew I wanted to help people in a different way. When I discovered what doulas do, something clicked. I realized I wanted to be the person I never had—someone who advocates, comforts, and helps birthing people relax into their own strength. I completed my Birth Doula and Postpartum care Training with Doula Love LLC in Portland, OR continued my education with additional training in trauma-informed care, oral health, cultural competency, CPR for adults/children/infants (for nurses), and basic lactation support. My approach is grounded in compassion, kindness, and a genuine desire to help families feel safe, informed, and supported. I’m a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly. I have ADHD, so every now and then I get a burst of energy—usually in a fun, optimistic way. I’m also disabled and live with POTS, but it doesn’t stop me from showing up fully for the families I support. I’m a young doula at 25, a mom of two, an animal lover, I love waterfalls, and a bit of a video-game nerd, Anima is a big part of my time. All of these pieces of me shape the warmth and understanding I bring into my work. I believe birth should feel supported, respected, and never lonely. My work extends into the postpartum period, where I continue to provide guidance, encouragement, and compassionate care as families adjust to their new chapter.

My love of childbirth was ignited after the birth of my first daughter.  I was blessed with continuous support during my own birth experience and knowing the difference it made for me, I was inspired to be a part of a community of women helping each other through the most transformative and empowering moment of their lives.  My journey began focused on midwifery; however, after learning of doula work and the direct, personal impact it can have on a woman’s birth story, I knew this path was a better fit for me.  As a student of Mother Tree Birth Services, I completed a DONA approved birth doula training in 2014, followed by a 6-month intensive birth doula internship. I support all types of birth in all settings. I’m trained in Hypnobirth, the Mongan Method as well as traditional natural birth methods in addition to planned epidural birth. I will support your choices as if they were my own.

I’m a certified birth and postpartum doula serving the Corvallis area. I also have my Traditional Healthcare Worker certification and am a member of the Community Doula Program and will be able to bill Medicaid by the end of March. I am nonbinary and welcome trans and gender non-conforming clients and families. I have two young children and have lived experience with prematurity, NICU stays, and pregnancy loss. I worked in early childhood education for several years after graduating from UO while also moving around the country, enjoying spending time in both San Francisco, CA and Austin, TX. Dancing, yoga, and movement are a huge part of who I am and there’s a deep connect for me between movement and birth work. My goal as your Doula is to help you have the most satisfying birth experience possible by supporting you physically, emotionally, and educationally. As your Doula I will help you advocate for yourself so that you feel both seen and heard by the medical staff, I will help support you physically as you progress in labor, and I will be there as an encouragement and champion for you and your partner throughout your journey. I love pampering women in labor, but I'm also there to be a Doula to the partner/spouse because we all know it's a team effort. My goal is never to replace your labor support, but rather add to, direct, and encourage them. I love to craft, make jokes, cuddle my toddler when he lets me, read books, and wander throughout Oregon’s woods and coastlines.
