I am a birth and postpartum doula serving all types of families and birthing people in the Charlotte area. A deeply held belief in intersectionality guided my path to this line of service. As a Black, queer, childless woman, I want to give others the encouragement to advocate for themselves and have the birthing and postpartum experience they dream of. Birth equity is only achievable when the entire person is acknowledged, including their experiences within the racial and social areas of healthcare. Outside of doula work, I recently received an MS in human nutrition. I also offer 1-on-1 wellness guidance sessions where we focus on designing the path to your nutrition goals. Hi, I’m Julie. I’m so glad you’re here! My passion for birth and motherhood started at a young age. All I ever wanted to be was a mom. After I had my fifth baby I felt sad realizing that this part of my life was over. I soon discovered that my calling to serve mamas as a birth doula however was just beginning. My hubby has been there beside me through it all as our children have been born naturally in both hospital and home settings. I use that firsthand knowledge now to serve you with not just my rigorous training and certification through Birth Arts International, but also through my own personal experience. I was introduced to essential oils in 2014, and every day since then has been a family journey to more natural patterns of health and wellness. I have seen and experienced success time after time using the oils throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and with a newborn. I feel that when we make decisions from a place of being informed we feel better about the choices we make. My background is in education, counseling and advocacy. My journey to birth work began after the birth of my son and subsequent pregnancy losses. Through these experiences I was able to see the importance and need of birth workers to support families. Pregnancy, child birth and pregnancy loss are sacred times and can also be scary. It is my goal to help ease the fear and focus more the on the sacredness of this time.
