Hayden Brame

Hi everybody! My name is Hayden Brame and I am a doula here in the Twin Cities. I have been working with children and their families since I was a teenager (more than 10 years now!) and am so passionate about families and making sure that every family has the best start imaginable. I believe that giving birth should be empowering and focus on the choices that you are able to make and on giving you the information that you need to make those choices. I will advocate for your decisions, from everything from what music to be played to what pain management you would prefer, and I will also hold space in the moment for any changes that you need. Birth is sacred and should be treated as such- at the end of this experience, you'll have a new member of your family to start a life with and I want to make sure that you are set up for success every step of the way!

Hayden was a wonderful doula to have at my first birth. Her experience with a TENS unit, acupressure points, and applying counter pressure during all my contractions was crucial to my smooth labor. She kept track of all my contractions and when they began to get farther apart she encouraged me to start walking. She also coached my husband and sister on counter pressure so they could help me as well. Hayden’s calm presence helped keep me stable and focused throughout the day and I’m so thankful that she could guide me through my first birth!

I’m Hallie, the founder and CEO of Better Beginnings. My passion for supporting women and families through the incredible transformation into parenthood began with my own journey. After experiencing the challenges of the postpartum period with my first two children, I felt called to create a resource that could make this transition smoother and more supportive for others. That’s how Better Beginnings was born. Today, I’m proud to lead one of Minnesota’s premier teams for postpartum doula and lactation support. Our team is highly trained and deeply committed to providing compassionate, expert care to families during this pivotal time. As a certified lactation counselor and certified postpartum doula, I’ve spent over a decade working with mothers and families, helping them navigate the early days and beyond with confidence and reassurance. My work is grounded in both personal experience and professional expertise—I’m a mother of four, and I know firsthand how deeply the journey into motherhood transforms us. Supporting families isn’t just my profession; it’s my calling. My mission is to make quality postpartum care accessible and to create a nurturing community for mothers as they embrace each stage of motherhood and self-discovery. What a gift to work with Better Beginnings! Hallie and her team were so prompt and helpful from start to finish, making sure we had what we need to choose the right offerings for our birth and were so gracious about all of our questions along the way. We loved working with our doula Cyrese - She went above and beyond to check in, encourage, and support us in all the weeks leading up to birth and through our delivery, sharing so much knowledge and cheering us along the whole way. We felt so loved and supported in our preparations for birth and welcoming our little one to our home - We would warmly recommend Better Beginnings to any mama and family welcoming a new baby!

My name is Maggie Mau, and I am a mom of two girls and two very sweet rescue pups, Hopper and Eleven. My partner is a longtime teacher for Saint Paul Public Schools and we have lived in the South Como neighborhood in Saint Paul for the last 15 years! As a family we enjoy camping, hiking and exploring our country’s beautiful national parks. It is not odd to find us hammocking up at Como park, picking mulberries and reading :) I enjoy running, gardening, reading and baking and hosting regular gatherings of family and friends. I have been in the Twin Cities nonprofit sector my whole career, and the passion that I feel for the success of individuals and families in our community is now being carried forward in a different, but equally important way – through the support and empowerment of families as they navigate their birth journeys. I believe in leading with empathy and deep listening, in order to best support families to create their own powerful birth experiences. I feel humbled and honored to be able to share space and offer support to you - the amazing parents and parents to be!

Choosing a doula was an unknown for us, but from the moment we started our interview process with Maggie, we were immediately put at ease. Her calm demeanor and personable attitude were exactly the kind of energy we knew we would need during such a stressful and transformative time. She spent almost an hour actively listening to our needs and wants during our initial consultation, which spoke volumes about her dedication. While it would take a book to summarize our entire prenatal, delivery, and postpartum journey, Maggie was there by phone every step of the way, and was an absolute joy and kind soul to have in the pre-delivery and delivery rooms. While people certainly welcome babies without a doula, having an individual like Maggie by our side during what was the hardest thing we've ever experienced made us feel like everything would be okay. We would recommend Maggie for doula services in a heartbeat.

Christelle is always lovely and helpful, providing kind encouragement as she draws from extensive experience with her own children and the children of many other families. I have asked her for advice or information on many aspects of mothering in the Catholic Nursing Mothers' Group. Outside of that group, I have sought her perspective on the prospect of pain in natural birth, hypnobirthing, breastfeeding my newborn who was exhibiting frustration by screaming when I tried to feed him, and healing an infection related to nursing. Even though she must be so busy with her own large family, she takes time to respond promptly to my questions. I am so glad to know Christelle and look forward to consulting her about more topics in the future!

Sarah was a great addition to the birth of my 1st daughter, Lilah. My husband and I were nervous going into the process, and didn't really know what to expect, and wanted to know everything we could. My husband and I did not hire Sarah until a month prior to our scheduled induction, as we had not fully committed to hiring a doula. Once we did, Sarah made sure to come to our house several times to go over all of the planning of our birthplan, going over several movements/positions, and overall informing us of the process and what to expect. She was very calming and reassuring even though we were nervous. Sarah did a great job of informing us about the processes involved in my induction, she was very knowledgeable about different movements and positions to encourage baby to move, and was super helpful in keeping my husband and I calm, as we tend to have higher anxiety generally. During the labor process, Sarah was extremely mindful of our wishes, and conveying them with the staff and making sure that I had autonomy over my experience and that decisions were not going to be made for me or pushed at me. She explained things to me that I didn't quite understand when doctors came in, and made sure my voice was heard. After the birth, she stayed with me until I was moved and settled, and even came to visit us when we came home from the hospital. She is also coming over again to meet to see how things are going, and help me plan my return to work. I would definitely recommend Sarah to everybody, even if you have gone through the birthing process before, as she is wonderful at making the experience more intimate and precious. Thank you Sarah for everything you did!

Skye Thompson Certified Birth Doula, CAB | Occupational Therapist, MA, OTR/L (Licensed in Minnesota) | Specializing in Pelvic Floor Therapy As a certified birth doula and perinatal occupational therapist, I love walking alongside families during one of the most powerful and personal transitions of their lives. With eight years of experience in mental health and specialized training in pelvic floor therapy, I’m especially passionate about how the mind and body work together in labor. There’s so much we can do to support both—regulating the nervous system, releasing tension, and helping the body move through birth with more ease and confidence. I’ve had two home births myself, and they’ve shaped the way I view birth—raw, sacred, and incredibly unique to each family. While I support births in any setting, I bring a calm, grounded perspective to those planning a home birth. Wherever you choose to welcome your baby, I work to create an environment that feels warm, familiar, and truly yours. I live in South Minneapolis with my husband and our three young boys who keep life full of noise, joy, and adventure. You can usually find us biking along the Mississippi River, chasing each other through playgrounds, or hunting down the best local food trucks (bonus points if there’s a good coffee shop nearby!). I’d be honored to be part of your story. ***Client testimonials can be viewed on my homepage at www.HomemadeBirth.com***

Having Madi as our doula was such a joy! She truly made our prenatal, birth, and postpartum experiences better than I could’ve ever imagined. When we were looking for a doula we wanted someone who would bring Christ to the center of our birth journey. Our birthing experience was incredibly difficult and full of anxiety and I just knew we did not want to go through that again. Immediately during our first meeting with Madi she kept the meeting spirit lead and calmed the nerves in the room from her presence. Madi has a peace about her from the Lord that cannot go unnoticed. Although my birthing experience did not go how we expected it to go this time, Madi was there with her peaceful, calming presence the entire time. She was such an incredibly encouraging individual to have with us as we met our second baby. Madi was really able to do it all for us and more, and we highly recommend her!

October 2026

I used Leah as my doula and i genuinely could not have asked for better. She provided amazing prenatal support through my incredibly rocky pregnancy. She remained my rock even when i got very scared and helped me decided what was best for myself, and my son by providing me with lots of helpful information. She helped prepare me mentally for labor, i had a unmedicated birth, and genuinely think i would have caved had i not had her support and tips with position changes, natural pain management etc. She remained calm and helpful through the times during my labor when i started to loose control of myself and helped reel me back into focus. She also remained a constant support after delivery and during postpartum, she is very knowledgeable in breastfeeding as well. Thankyou so much Leah for your services!🖤

Megan is such a fabulous doula! We were so cared for by her before, during, and after our daughter's birth. She really took the time to make sure all our questions were answered before labor, and then advocated for what we wanted while we were at the hospital. She was a HUGE help for us as we were navigating everything for the first time and made us feel so prepared, even when our baby came five weeks early! We would recommend Megan as a doula to anyone having a baby!! She is the best!!
