My journey into birth work began after the birth of my first child . I often refer to this experience as the best and hardest time. I was astounded by the disparity of education, preparation, and namely support provided around birth and even more so postpartum. I became a passionate student and advocate of birth, and postpartum experiences in my corner of the world and the larger diaspora. My mission as your doula is to walk alongside you, providing information, comfort measures, resources, emotional support, advocacy and space. My intent is that you will feel you can confidently meet any of the dynamic set of challenges that come with childbirth, thanks to the knowledge and supportive environment you’ve created by using a doula. It is my belief that when a birthing person receives evidence based information, is in a safe space, with unconditional support; no one knows better what a birthing person needs better than the person giving birth. And it is your birth team’s job to listen. Many people believe there is a right or successful way to have a baby. This is not only untrue but a harmful mindset. No matter how your baby arrives, there is an opportunity to be one of the most empowering experiences of ones life. Every birth just like every person is unique and sacred. And each experience should be honored as such. My work began with the births of my two children, followed by passionately supporting my family and friends in their birth and postpartum experiences and captively listening to every birth story I could hear. It became clear to me, birthwork was the work I was always meant to do. I went on to pursue professional training. First completed my postpartum and lactation educator training with Jodi Congdon through CAPPA then rounding out my birth doula training with Debra Pascali Bonaro through DONA. I continue to stay motivated and inspired by every client I work with, continuing education courses, as well as a growing community of birthworkers who continue to share their own expertise, wisdom and knowledge, To which I am most grateful. My practice is named Due Care Doula because it is my firm belief that everyone deserves and benefits from professional perinatal doula support. And it should be considered, not an indulgence or optional, but rather the standard “due care”.

Hiring Meghan and her doula partner, Lawren, was one of the best decisions I made for my first pregnancy & birth. They offered consistent guidance and reassurance, regularly reviewing pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum details, and addressing my numerous questions and anxieties. Meghan's background as a dietician also proved invaluable to me, particularly during pregnancy when I had alot of nutrition-related concerns. She ensured I felt informed and prepared for every situation through the knowledge shared during our meetings, & her calm & peaceful nature always left me feeling less stressed about my pregnancy & upcoming labor. Meghan was a constant presence during my very long & difficult labor. She helped me manage contractions, offered words of encouragement, guided me through various birthing positions, and made sure I ate & had water with electrolytes to stay hydrated. Throughout the entire process, she maintained her calm composure and demonstrated an understanding of my needs, even when I was uncertain. I truly don't know what I would have done without her during labor! The guidance, support, & care she provided was instrumental in my having a successful vaginal delivery!

Hiring Doula Odessa was one of the best decisions we made. She helped me create a birth plan and shared evidence-based resources that made me feel informed and confident throughout pregnancy. As my due date approached, she was always available and supportive. When winter weather threatened her travel, she arranged a backup doula just in case, but thankfully it wasn’t needed—Odessa drove through difficult conditions to be there early that morning and stayed with us through labor and even after my C-section. She advocated for the birth experience I hoped for while also supporting my husband and me when doctors said an emergency C-section was necessary. Although my birth didn’t go as planned, I felt heard, cared for, and supported by Doula Odessa. She gave me confidence and strength during a difficult experience, and I’m so grateful to have had her by my side.

Mery Febrillet

Hello everyone! My name is Mery E Febrillet. Grateful to enter this beautiful world of birth by guiding families to positive and peaceful births, serving as a CCE/ Doula. I am thrilled to be a blessing to others! The first birth I helped with was amazing, and I loved every second of it. I look forward to supporting families in their unique birth experiences. Some fun facts about me: I love learning new things, cooking plant-based food, especially cheesecake, and giving random back massages to people I think may need it.

Some people enter your life for a reason. Mery entered ours at one of the most sacred moments we will ever experience.Mery was a doula student at the time, and our labor was her very first birth. Yet from the beginning, her calmness and compassion felt far beyond experience. It was clear this work lives in her heart.Throughout my pregnancy, she checked in often with kindness and genuine care. I struggled with hyperemesis, and many days were physically and emotionally heavy, but Mery never allowed me to feel alone. She listened, encouraged, and reminded me of my strength when I felt depleted. This was my fourth pregnancy, yet completely different from my previous births that required medical intervention. This time, everything unfolded naturally.Because of Mery’s presence, my husband was able to be deeply involved throughout labor. She supported our entire family so he could remain close to me emotionally, physically, and spiritually.I labored at home until the last moment, supported by both of them. We walked our neighborhood together as contractions intensified. Mery sang, encouraged, and helped maintain a sense of calm and trust, even bringing laughter into intense moments. When it was time to go to the hospital, Mery drove us herself so my husband could sit beside me in the backseat, praying and comforting me through powerful contractions. That ride became one of the most intimate moments of our journey.Within thirty minutes of arriving, our daughter was born en caul, with Mery right at my feet, steady and present. Her presence felt heaven-sent. Mery brought peace into our birth space and reminded me that birth can be powerful, intimate, and beautiful. We are endlessly grateful for the love and devotion she poured into our family.

I am a birth and postpartum doula, and breastfeeding consultant with a deep passion for supporting women and families through the transformative journey of birth and early parenthood. One of my greatest influences as a birth worker has been Ina May Gaskin, whose teachings have deeply shaped the way I view birth and the care I strive to provide. I am inspired by her trust in the wisdom of the female body, her reverence for the natural process of birth, and her belief in the incredible strength of women. I strive to embody these values in my own work, approaching each birth with patience, compassion, and deep respect for the person giving birth. I believe birth is so much more than a medical event. It is a deeply personal, powerful, and life-changing experience that deserves to be honored. My hope is to help every woman feel safe, heard, respected, and empowered as she moves through pregnancy, labor, and birth. I strive to create a calm, nurturing space where families can trust themselves, feel confident in their choices, and welcome their babies in a way that feels right for them. My care extends beyond the birth room. Through postpartum support and breastfeeding consulting, I offer guidance, reassurance, and practical care during the tender transition into parenthood. I believe the weeks and months after birth deserve just as much attention, nourishment, and support as pregnancy and labor. It is my hope that every family I work with feels cared for as they find their rhythm, build confidence, and grow into their new roles. For me, being a doula means holding space for the strength, vulnerability, and beauty of this season of life. It means offering a steady, compassionate presence, honoring each family's unique journey, and reminding women of the wisdom and capability they carry within themselves. It is an honor to walk alongside families during one of life's most meaningful transitions. My greatest hope is that the families I support feel nurtured, empowered, and deeply connected to their own experience of birth and early parenthood.

Hannah is an excellent doula. She provided us with help postpartum advising on our breastfeeding journey. She was able to quickly gather all the information to understand our specific situation and formulate a practical plan that was aligned with our comfort and goals. Her energy is exactly the kind you want around to help prepare for labor, assist during and to help with post-partum care. Warm, down to earth and motivated to help. You can tell she really loves doing this work. I felt immediately comfortable with her during our initial consultation and during her time working with us. Thanks Hannah!

I'm a DONA-certified birth doula with a Master of Social Work from Columbia University, serving families in Kingston, Ulster County, Dutchess County, and throughout the Hudson Valley. With a decade of experience in social work, seven years of training and practice in Western herbalism, and my own journey through motherhood, I bring a compassionate, grounded, and holistic approach to birth support. My additional training includes Spinning Babies, Hypnobirthing, lactation support, and perinatal mental health. I combine evidence-based education, hands-on comfort techniques, and emotional support to help families feel informed, confident, and supported throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I believe that how we experience birth matters, not because there's one right way to give birth, but because every family deserves to feel heard, respected, and empowered in their choices. Whether you're planning a home or hospital birth, hoping for an unmedicated experience, or considering an epidural or other interventions, my role is to provide steady, nonjudgmental support tailored to your individual needs and preferences. Drawing on my clinical social work background, I offer a trauma-informed, body-positive, and inclusive approach, warmly welcoming LGBTQ+ families, single parents, and families of all backgrounds. My goal is to be a calming, reassuring presence and a trusted resource as you navigate the transformative experience of welcoming your baby.
