My journey began in 2014, after watching the documentary, The Business of Being Born. I was shocked at how medical and sterile birth had become and how unfairly some pregnant people are treated. From there, I spent the next three years devouring anything and everything related to birth. I attended my first birth as a doula (unknowingly) in 2017 when my goddaughter was born, and I fell in love with doula work. I married my husband in late 2017, and in early 2019 I found out I was pregnant with my first child. My pregnancy was one of the most enjoyable times of my life. I gave birth vaginally in a hospital transfer from Atlanta Birth Center, to Atlanta Medical Center in November 2019. I have my birth team to thank for solidifying my passion for other people to have the experience I was blessed with. ​I believe information is our greatest tool. I will provide you with evidence-based information from a holistic standpoint. Outside of being a doula, I love to travel. I enjoy visiting new and familiar places with my family. I am passionate about empowering birthing families to actively prepare for childbirth. Through my own experiences, I felt that there was a gap in labor support between healthcare professionals and labor partners. Many birthing people I have interacted with describe fear and apprehension as they approached their labor. Even more tragically, many birthing families have expressed disappointment or even trauma from a birth experience that felt poorly communicated, emergent, and out of their control. Part of my mandate is to know the limitations of the healthcare system and to educate families to advocate for their own birth using current and evidence-based information.
