Hello! My name is Lauren, the hands on and heart led birth and postpartum doula in Durham Region. I'm also a big homebody who loves to read, craft my own tea blends, make natural skincare products and candles, and spend time in nature as much as possible. Becoming a doula felt like stepping into a path that was already laid out for me. I have always felt a fierce protection for other women, and connected easily and deeply with the women in my life. Combined with my interest in herbal healing and natural remedies, my previous work with and love for children and babies, my need to feed everyone I love home cooked, nourishing meals, and my interest in birth & the medical system, I realized that I already was a doula, I just needed to take the leap onto the path.   Early in 2025, I completed a 10 day doula training retreat in Costa Rica, which was a beautiful way to begin my new career. In the past couple of years I have been amazed by the women I work with, the births I have experienced by their sides, and the cocoon of postpartum. I love this work! I believe that birth and postpartum are some of the most transformational and impactful moments of a woman’s life, and they deserve to be positive experiences. My experiences as a mother of a child with special needs inspired me to become a passionate advocate for families navigating healthcare, education, and community support systems. As a community-based, high-risk doula, my goal is to provide compassionate, evidence-informed support throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey. I currently serve as Vice President of the Brockport PTSA, where I work to strengthen partnerships between families, schools, and the community through volunteerism, parent engagement, and educational initiatives. I also serve as the Brockport Central School District TIES Program Coordinator, coordinating inclusive social and recreational opportunities that bring together students with and without disabilities. Through TIES, I aim to help foster meaningful friendships, leadership, and a sense of belonging for children and young adults of all abilities. Everything I do is rooted in the belief that education empowers families. Whether I am supporting an expectant parent, advocating for a child with special needs, leading community programs, or connecting families with local resources, my mission is to provide the knowledge, encouragement, and support that help families make informed choices with confidence.

I am new to the Rochester Area—I've been primarily a lactation counselor and postpartum doula since 2020, and first got trained with Ancient Song Doula Services in 2018. I am a mother and professional nanny who was nurtured during my prenatal and postpartum periods, which I am grateful for. I am a certified birth and postpartum doula and newborn care specialist, but what I offer is not expert advice. There is an overload of information now that seems overwhelming to new mothers. I offer the knowledge that motherhood is a rite of passage that occurs naturally with guidance and companionship, not a list of tasks to do and information to learn. Motherhood is learned through experience and by being surrounded by caring mothers. I am available for prenatal visits to help prepare mothers for their birth. I am available for the whole birth or the beginning phase of birth to be present in your home before the transition to the hospital. I am also available postpartum to help make your transition with your new baby easier. My daily postpartum shifts are a minimum of 3 hours, which can include some meal prep, if desired.
