Raika supported our family for 8 weeks, and we are very grateful for the care she provided. She was professional, reliable, kind, and attentive throughout the entire time she worked with us. She showed great knowledge and confidence in newborn care and always made us feel comfortable and supported. Raika was very caring with our baby, communicated clearly with us, and was always willing to help with whatever was needed. Her calm and gentle presence made a big difference during the postpartum period. We truly appreciated her dedication, professionalism, and the care she gave our family. Hiring an overnight doula from Peaceful Passages was one of the best decisions I made for my postpartum recovery. Not only did my doula lovingly care for me and my newborn, she went above and beyond—prepping nourishing meals, providing breastfeeding support, organizing the baby’s nursery, and even helping with my twin toddlers so I could rest. Her calm, professional presence made my healing after a c-section so much easier. I was especially impressed by how seamless everything was—she was professionally dressed, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable. On top of that, Peaceful Passages accepted my Carrot insurance and handled all the billing with ease, which lifted such a burden off my shoulders. This service was truly a lifesaver for me and my family. I felt cared for, supported, and able to focus on bonding with my baby. I can’t recommend their overnight doula services enough!

My name is Shakila Marando, and I am the founder of DOULAS by the BAY. I am a mother of two and have spent over 25 years working with children and families, including the last 17 years supporting families as a doula through pregnancy, birth, and the early newborn days. This work comes from a deep belief that no family should ever feel alone during this journey. I work closely alongside our team of doulas, sharing the same commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care. Together, we have supported thousands of families across Northern and Southern California, providing steady guidance, reassurance, and hands-on support when it matters most. Our doulas are carefully selected, certified, and deeply cared for. Every team member is Birth and Postpartum Certified, Perinatal Mood Disorders Certified, CPR trained, HIPAA compliant, fully vetted, and insured. With ongoing mentorship and professional development, we ensure families receive safe, reliable, and heart-centered care in their homes. I created DOULAS by the BAY to build a trusted, supportive space where families feel seen, informed, and confident—while expanding access to doula care and strengthening our community, one family at a time.

Shakila is the best there is. We did not have a night doula for our first child. For our second, we needed one because I had to go back to work right away. I was very nervous about leaving my baby with someone else during the night hours, particularly at just two weeks. Shakila let me control as much of the process as I wanted to so I always felt like she was doing what I wanted. She has a magical touch with babies and had our daughter sleeping through the night by two months old. She would not even leave in the morning until the baby was back to sleep, which allowed us an extra hour of sleep on top of the time she was with us. She was worth every penny and then some. THANK YOU SHAKILA! We miss you.

My journey started in the year 2000 in my hometown of Washington, DC. In 2015. Since then, I’ve supported a diverse clientele in New York City and now Cali. My philosophy: Mothers deserve to be respected, heard and nurtured doing this major transition in life to becoming a mom, whether it’s for the first time or the 8th time! I truly believe It takes a village to raise a family which is what led me to my purpose, heart-centered work of supporting mothers & families. I’m a strong advocate for mothers and families birthing in all settings including hospital, home & birth centers. I respect the many choices in mothering and parenting. It's an honor to walk the path of mothering with women as they navigate the many options we have today. I strongly believe in the woman's ability to grow, birth and nourish her baby with her natural, innate abilities while also respecting the need or preference of medical support along the way. It's all about the balance of holistic & medical. My support also includes follow up postpartum healing practices for mom, lactation and pumping support, newborn care and parent coaching. I’m a certified Postpartum Doula, Certified Postpartum Nutritional Professional, Sleep Consultant and Lactation supporter. I’ve been working with families in the Bay Area for over 37 years and I absolutely love being part of this new phase of bringing a brand new baby home, weather this baby is your biological or adopted.

We are incredibly grateful to have had Rosangela as our doula during our baby’s first month of life. From day one, she was punctual, reliable, and—most importantly—exceptionally caring with our newborn. Rosangela supported us for four weeks and was flexible with her schedule, even accommodating our request for a later start. When her assignment with us was coming to an end, she went above and beyond by helping us find a second doula to ensure continuity of care as well as training that doula to ensure no disruption. Even after rolling off, she has continued to check in with us, offering guidance and thoughtful support, which has meant so much during the postpartum period. During her time with us, Rosangela supported night feedings by gently waking both mom and baby, assisted with latching, burped the baby, and handled diaper changes throughout feeds. She supported our baby’s first bath, helped with baby laundry, and took care of all breast pump setup and cleanup—assembling parts, washing them, and making sure everything was ready for the next pumping session. These details made an enormous difference during those early, exhausting weeks. She consistently offered helpful advice and reassurance, always in a respectful way that made us feel supported rather than directed. Rosangela brought a calm, nurturing presence into our home, and we truly felt that our baby was in loving, experienced and capable hands. We wholeheartedly recommend Rosangela to any family looking for a knowledgeable, compassionate, and dependable doula. She was an invaluable part of our postpartum journey.

Hello! My name is Lynda Pius, and I am a Certified Postpartum Doula based in the Bay Area, California. I am passionate about supporting families through their postpartum journey, providing a listening ear, compassionate care, and a welcoming presence. I hold a degree in Health Education and I am currently pursuing my second degree in Nursing, with the goal of becoming a pediatric nurse. I am committed to continually expanding my knowledge and skills. I am certified through reputable doula training programs and have also earned credentials as a Certified Nursing Assistant, First Aid/CPR for infants and adults, and have volunteered with organizations such as the United MSD Foundation as a professional ambassador. I believe the postpartum period can be a time of healing, connection, and peace when we create a supportive environment and use positive affirmations to nurture both parent and baby. My practice focuses on providing a judgment-free space where parents can access both emotional and informational support. In my free time, I enjoy reading to my baby, experimenting with new recipes, and listening to good music.

Having Lynda as my doula was one of the greatest blessings during such a vulnerable and life changing season. From the very beginning, she created a space where I felt safe, heard, and completely supported. Her calm presence reassured me in moments of uncertainty, and her knowledge gave me confidence in every decision I needed to make. She did not just care for me physically, she cared for me emotionally. Lynda took the time to explain things clearly, offered practical guidance, and supported my choices without judgment. That balance of professionalism and compassion made all the difference. What touched me most was the way she extended that same warmth and patience to my daughter. She was gentle, attentive, and genuinely kind, which meant so much to me as a mother. Seeing my child comfortable and cared for while I received support was incredibly reassuring. Because of Lynda, I look back on my experience with gratitude rather than overwhelm. I feel stronger, more confident, and deeply thankful that she was part of our journey. I wholeheartedly recommend her to any mother seeking not just a doula, but a steady and compassionate presence during such an important time.

We feel incredibly lucky to have had Leticia as our night doula during these first weeks with our newborn. Looking back, I honestly don’t know how we would have gotten through this postpartum journey without her. What really sets Leticia apart is how much she genuinely cares about our baby and our family. We can tell that she takes care of our baby with so much patience, gentleness, and love. She is attentive to his needs and treats him with warmth, care, and professional knowledge. It feels like our baby can always calm down immediately in Leticia’s hands. Knowing that our baby was in such good hands allowed us to truly relax when Leticia was here at night. That peace of mind is something we cannot put a price on. She is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, calm, reliable, and dependable. Her communication is also exceptional. She is clear and precise, but never cold or clinical. We always felt completely comfortable asking her questions, no matter how small or repetitive they might have seemed. We really appreciate how approachable and generous Leticia has been with her guidance and how willing she is to answer all of our questions. We are so grateful for everything she has done for us and for our baby. Leticia is truly outstanding at what she does, and I cannot recommend her enough. Any new parent would be incredibly fortunate to have her supporting them through those precious, exhausting, and sometimes difficult first weeks with a newborn.

Rebecca was very thorough in the education she provided to us as first time parents in the lead up to the birth. There were 4 in depth sessions which were really appreciated and learned tons during. It alleviated some nervousness around giving birth. During the birth, she came over just before the baby was born at the hospital and gave me a massage and really helped advocate for my wishes as predefined in the birth plan (which she helped me develop). After the baby was born, we had a few additional sessions with her. She brought over bone broth, did a baby massage, and really made the day special for me with a tray of yummy treats. Additionally, she did a closing of the bones ceremony. It's really when i realized that in becoming a mom I went through a transition and a change that was more than I really understood pre-birth. I remain super grateful to Rebecca for the wonderful care she provided me during our time together. Thank you for all the training and education prior to the birth and in taking care of me post partum. I wished I had more time with her!

Kim is great! We hired Kim as our birth doula and had a wonderful experience. - She's super knowledgeable & experienced-- with her prep sessions, I didn't feel the need to do any additional birth prep classes and I felt informed & empowered going into my birth. - I really trusted her to help us navigate choice and make good decisions that were medically safe & aligned with our preferences. This was a huge stress reliever for me-- it let me avoid sifting through endless info on the internet. - She helped bring my partner in to the birth experience and supported both of us throughout. - She worked flawlessly with the staff at UCSF. Kim felt like a trusted member of our medical team. This was especially nice when hospital shifts changed or when we needed help weighing options. - Her support during the birth itself was exactly what I needed, from physical comfort measures to brainstorming options to emotional support. We had a wonderful birth and Kim's support was a big part of that. Can't recommend her highly enough.
