I had counseled at a crisis pregnancy center for 6 years and unofficially supported close friends and family members through pregnancy, labor, birth, breastfeeding, postpartum and parenting for the last 15 years. I then finally decided to make a career out of it and I am now a Ceritfied Birth Doula through DONA. I had my first child at 19 and knew almost nothing about pregnancy, labor and birth which resulted in a very difficult and traumatic delivery and postpartum. After that experience I was determined to research and learn everything I could about human anatomy, the female body and reproductive system, pregnancy, labor, birth and breastfeeding.
