I have a license and Masters in Social Work and prior to becoming a doula, I spent 14 years working as a social worker in the community. While I loved getting to know and work with families, my passion lies in helping and supporting women and families in all stages of pregnancy and early parenthood. After having four unique births of my own, ranging from a hospital induction to a home birth, I realized there is a lack of continuous support for women in our society specifically related to pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum periods. I realized this was an opportunity for me to continue to support families in my community, but in a different way. This led me to become a doula. Hi, I’m Sarah, the heart and soul behind RAS Doula Services. My journey to becoming a doula is deeply personal. My husband and I are parents to five beautiful children, and each pregnancy and birth taught me something different about the strength, vulnerability, and power of motherhood. But our story also holds deep loss. In January 2024, we lost our daughter Riley. Her life, though far too short, changed me forever and became a big part of why I chose this path. I want her life to continue to mean something. Supporting other women as they bring life into the world is one of the ways I honor her. Through my own pregnancies and births, I experienced first hand how important it is for a mother to feel supported, heard, and empowered during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. I was incredibly grateful to have my husband by my side each time, but I often think about how different those experiences could have been if I’d also had a trained support person whose sole focus was helping me through every moment of labor. That realization is what led me to become a doula. Along side my training, I bring the lived experience of carrying, birthing, and caring for five children. Hi, I’m Faith! I provide compassionate postpartum and overnight newborn support to families throughout the Dayton area. With a healthcare background, NICU volunteer experience, and extensive hands-on experience caring for newborns and twins, I’m comfortable independently managing overnight care while helping parents get the rest they need during the postpartum period. My overnight support can include bottle preparation and feeding, burping, diaper changes, soothing and settling, safe sleep routines, washing and sanitizing bottles and pump parts, tracking feeds/diapers/sleep, and light newborn-related tidying.
