Tyne Jeanae Dickson

Houston, Texas 4 years of experience

Tyne Jeanae Dickson

After years of social justice work, community organizing, and healing facilitation, Tyne became a birth worker in 2023. She focuses on providing grounded, evidenced-based, love and support for families. Most important to me- is that you have the information to make your birth your own, and feel supported & loved while doing so. After she began working as a doula and seeing the disparities amongst mamas, she started providing my services on a sliding scale and mainly works with moms on medicaid through GALS. Tyne is trained through Doula Trainings International, and works with Giving Austin Labor Support (GALS) as an On-Call Doula for Austin hospitals. She also is training through BEST Doula Program for placenta preparation. Tyne is also a trained healing circle facilitator, worked with an indigenous midwifery school Ruruchay in Peru, and loves to support clients through the emotional journey of birth. In addition to birth work, Tyne graduated from Southern Methodist University with a degree in Human Rights, and finishing her masters in Community Organizing and Social Activism. She has worked in several non-profits for the past 6 years. Tyne has also been an actor, director, and performer for over 10 years. When not working with clients, you can find me at the library, finding good food, or at the park. Imani Birth Journeys- Your birth is your birth. And so it will be. Ase.

Hi, I’m Melanie Powell—certified doula, childbirth educator, author of From Fear to First Cry, and the founder of both Little Flower Birth Services and the non-profit Under His Wings Collective. As a mother myself, I know firsthand that bringing a child into the world is one of the most profound, transformative journeys you will ever take. But I also know it can bring up deep questions, past fears, and medical anxieties. That is why my life’s work is dedicated to walking beside women and their partners, ensuring you never have to navigate the medical landscape alone. Through Little Flower Birth Services, my practice is rooted in three core pillars: Advocacy to help your partner step into their role as your protector, Sanctuary to guard your peace with a protective "Baby Bubble," and Autonomy to honor your God-given intuition through a trauma-informed framework. Whether I'm teaching evidence-based physiological birth classes, coaching partners in our signature advocacy workshops, or offering quiet, steadfast support in the delivery room, my goal is to transform your anxieties into your greatest strengths. Beyond my private practice, my heart for community led me to establish Under His Wings Collective—a non-profit initiative dedicated to expanding access to sliding-scale and free childbirth education, alongside trauma-informed virtual doula support (such as our Virtual Bloom Package) for Medicaid-eligible, low-income, and high-anxiety mothers who deserve dedicated care regardless of circumstance. When I’m not supporting families across the DFW Metroplex, leading virtual education cohorts, or advocating through the collective, you can usually find me baking something nourishing for loved ones or cherishing quiet moments with my daughter. You deserve to enter your birth room feeling strong, informed, and deeply supported. I would be honored to walk this sacred journey with you.

What made us choose Melanie as our birth doula for our first birth experience was the fact that she was Catholic and she offered a lot in her birth package. She was extremely helpful all throughout my pregnancy, especially on the day of my delivery. She helped us map out a birth plan and she did a great job educating us. During my labor, Melanie coached me through exercises she prepped us with to deal with the contractions. After I got my epidural, I was still experiencing pain on my right side. Melanie spent hours lightly shaking the area to get my daughter to move. It really helped me deal with the pain. She also helped the nurse with getting my daughter to turn face down to prepare for birth. Melanie offered me the comfort and support I needed in the last hours of my labor. Because of her support, my husband was able to get some extra sleep so he could be present with me and available post-birth. I would strongly recommend Melanie as a doula.

I had a great experience with Dana as my doula. We didn't meet until the end of my third trimester because I decided I needed a doula at the last minute. Dana listened to all my concerns about the care I received, and even attended one of my last OB appointments. I felt that she was well informed about pregnancy and labor. I enjoyed going over my birth plan with Dana because she explained everything line by line. I went into labor prematurely at 36 weeks and Dana didn't panic. She came to the delivery room and I feel like everything moved fast. She set up music like I wanted, dimmed the lights, and helped my husband with positions. I was able to have a vaginal birth with no epidural like I wanted. This meant so much to me because the specialist I was seeing told me I would have to be induced and have a c-section. Dana made me feel supported and helped me feel calm during labor. I was able to make informed decisions about my care and not feel anxious going into labor. Even after the delivery, Dana got food for me and my husband and checked on us until we all went home. Our post-partum visit at home went well and Dana was able to get my baby to latch. I had a positive experience for my first birth, and I would recommend Dana to anyone looking for a doula.
