I’m a tried-and-true newborn care specialist and postpartum and infant care doula with nearly a decade of experience serving families in Morganton, North Carolina. I know that babies are only little once and that the experience is much sweeter when the whole family is nurtured and well-rested. Driven by a desire to help families thrive, I founded Hickory Family Doulas. As a Certified Mommywise Sleep Trainer, I specialize in helping families achieve one of the most precious things in the world: great sleep. I use my extensive knowledge to provide sleep shaping for restless babies whose families need rest to thrive. My light humor and calm, reassuring presence bring comfort and ease to the families I work with. I live in Morganton with my son and our hodgepodge of pets. I love spending time at home with my son in our garden when I’m not supporting families. I love classic rock and solving mysteries as an armchair detective when I listen to true crime podcasts.

I am glad you are here. Charlotte has never hosted this particular type of Caregiver-Child Class and I am thrilled to share this practice with you. I have over 18 years of experience working with children and caregivers in the home and school environment, and certifications in multiple early childhood and family-centered practices such as LWL®, RIE™, Pikler, and Montessori. Most importantly, I am a Mom. This type of class was not available to me when I brought my baby home over 13 years ago. Trust me, I could have used the support. Peace beautiful souls , My name is Amara , I am a mom of 3 , here in the charlotte Nc area , I have a background in movement therapies such as prenatal and postpartum yoga , Trauma informed care and a Birth and postpartum doula . My business is all about motherhood. Nurturing the mama in all stages of motherhood through integrative healing , support and communication . I’m currently a ProDoula Certified Labor Doula (CD-L) + A Dona International Certified Doula (CD). I am also a Certified Fertility Doula (CFD), Reproductive Health Specialist (RHS), Postpartum Doula (PPD), Newborn Care Specialist (NCS), and Infant Feeding Specialist (IFS). I know it’s a mouthful but it was all totally worth it. ​ I support unmedicated and medicated births and believe they are both outstandingly beautiful. I also specialize in working with LGBTQ+ families. I am obsessed with multiples as a result of my younger twin siblings, Claire and Cooper. Thankfully, my obsession has led me to experience some amazing twin and triplet births (vaginal and cesarean). I also fully support and love those who birth their babies from their bellies. I now offer planned cesarean support as well! ​ I have been trained in a variety of comfort measure techniques including, rebozo, acupressure, massage, guided meditation, and aromatherapy. I am a certified Hypnobabies Hypno-Doula. Additionally, I have significant experience with clients using other forms of Hypnosis for birth. ​ I have a fierce desire to help clients who struggle with walking a unique fertility path. As the first Fertility Doula in Charlotte, NC, I know just how much support surrounding fertility complications and infertility is needed in our community. I have recently started organizing a collective of doulas committed to offering support to families and individuals undergoing any fertility assistance. Fertility work has led me to find passion in also supporting families with surrogates and those going through surrogacy. ​ Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding, pumping, supplementing, and formula feeding are all journeys that I’m in full support of and have significant experience with as well. Cultivating an environment where you can bond with your baby, no matter how you feed them, is one of my favorite things to curate for clients. ​ I’ve always loved supporting people - the deeply and passionately really truly type of love. There is nothing that has ever compared to feeling like I’m living my purpose. Being a doula isn’t what I am meant to do. Being a doula is what I was born to do.
