Hi y’all, For those interested in using a doula for your next pregnancy I highly recommend Juanita Lewis-Jones. She offered prenatal, delivery, and postpartum support and has been an absolute blessing to my husband and I. Doulas provide emotional support and work along side the medical providers. Juanita attended my first delivery at BAMC, helped me understand my options, and allowed me to make critical decisions in the labor room when it was most needed. She has such a calming presence and I felt comfortable leaning on her for guidance and support. Juanita is retired military and is very familiar with our particular needs as we are here on military orders and do not have any family in the area. She met with us virtually which made our meetings so convenient for our busy schedules. I would recommend requesting a doula early in pregnancy as their services are well sought after; however, they give priority to military, teen moms, and low income families. We have Christian and Buddhist backgrounds. If you’d like to incorporate belief into your journey, she will accommodate the request, but won’t push any particular sect which was perfect for our bi-cultural family. I recommend to every pregnant mom I meet to allow a doula to be part of their birth story. Juanita made all the difference in our experience. We have a healthy baby girl and I have healed both mentally and physically more quickly than I ever thought possible and I full heartedly believe it was due to her influence and support. We are better prepared as parents and partners to each other moving forward. We do and will always love Juanita like a family member Sincerely, Erika & Alex Rattanatay

Zulmy Galindo

I was inspired to pursue birth work after becoming a parent and experiencing how powerful and transformative the birthing process is. I also do this work because it brings so much joy and connection. I believe that supporting families during such a vulnerable and sacred passage in their lives, providing access to care, educating and overall empowering birthing people to trust their bodies and intuition is truly fundamental for healthy maternal/ birthing outcomes. I am the proud mama of a magical 3 year old. In my free time, I enjoy the outdoors, hiking and watching the wild dance of our trees. I love eating and getting lost in a good book. I was born in Guatemala and moved to the states when I was 7 years old. Spanish is my first language. I got a Bachelors in Marketing at Missouri State University and moved to Austin shortly thereafter. I have been married for 6 years to a man who makes me laugh. I look forward to working with you and your family!

Zulmy is a wonderful, warm, supportive, knowledgeable person who contributed immensely to creating a positive and empowering birthing experience. I hired Zulmy when I was pregnant with my second child. I didn’t have a very positive experience with the birth of my first child where I did not have a doula and had to have several interventions. Zulmy helped me working through some issues I had and helped me prepare for my second birth. She made me feel safe and helped me to believe in myself. With her help I was able to trust my intuition and fully immerse into the birthing experience. She created a calm, comfortable, supportive atmosphere, just the way we had discussed . My music was playing, there were lights, essential oils, words of support, moments of silence… Zulmy made a difference in my life and I can only recommend working with her.

Julie Sones

Hello! My name is Julie Sones, and I am a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula living in Round Rock, TX serving surrounding areas. Serving families in this capacity has been such a joy and a privilege, and I believe that finding this work was not a coincidence. As a mom of two girls, I understand how precious this time is and how vulnerable you can be as well as how important it is to trust the person with whom you will partner to serve your family. It is my goal to ensure your baby, you, and your family are empowered, educated, cared for, and feel supported every step of the way. We will work collaboratively to make this happen. Although my doula role is strictly non-medical, my 20 years of experience as a registered nurse inform my approach to evidence-based education, newborn care, and maternal recovery. I provide compassionate, individualized support while recognizing when medical concerns should be referred to a healthcare professional. My doula services do not include nursing care, diagnosis, or medical treatment.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have had Julie as our night doula! Julie is everything you could hope for in a doula—proactive, punctual, reliable, experienced, and genuinely loving toward our son. Her care and dedication began long before our baby arrived. She visited me twice before delivery, brought helpful preparation materials, and consistently checked in to see how I was doing. She stayed in close communication to make sure everything was coordinated and that support would be available when we needed it. Our son ended up arriving a week earlier than expected, but Julie went above and beyond to adjust her schedule and be there for us on our very first night home from the hospital. That support meant so much to us, especially as first-time parents navigating those overwhelming early days. Throughout our time together, Julie was incredibly attentive and thoughtful. She always provided detailed notes about our son’s nights, kept us updated on anything she noticed, and helped us think through possible reasons behind certain behaviors or symptoms. She also generously shared a wealth of helpful resources and practical information to guide us through various situations and challenges with our newborn. Her experience, patience, and genuine care gave us so much comfort and confidence. Most importantly, it was clear how much love and tenderness Julie brought to caring for our son. Knowing he was in such caring and capable hands allowed our family to rest and recover with peace of mind. I truly cannot thank Julie enough for the warmth, kindness, and exceptional care she brought to our son and our entire family. She made such a meaningful difference during one of the most important transitions of our lives. I wholeheartedly recommend Julie to any family looking for a knowledgeable, dependable, and genuinely caring doula. Any family would be lucky to have her!

I'm a mom of 4 & Nana of 1, married to my soulmate for almost 24 years. Proud to be an Air Force veteran, I was Active duty when my first was born. Her birth was eye opening... and the reason I sought out different options for my second birth. My second was the first of 3 redeeming and beautiful home births, and that experience is what ignited my passion for birth. I wanted to be a midwife for several years but that wasn't in the cards. It was years later, shortly after making the move to pursue photography, that I found my passion in birth photography. From there, my desire to support and encourage birthing families only grew, and I sought out certification as a doula. Obviously I love being there when a sweet little soul makes its debut. It's more than that though! As a birth worker, I have the honor and privilege of witnessing transformations. That realization that they are able, that they are doing it, that they are about to meet their long awaited babies... that they CAN do hard things. That moment is worth the sleepless nights, sore muscles, and changed plans. That moment of empowerment and transformation brings a tear to my eyes. It never gets old. I specialize in documenting birth in photos and films as well as supporting through labor and birth. My passion is seeing each birthing family know their options, understand the pros & cons of each, and making informed choices that support the birth they want. I strive to document those stories (for those clients that desire documentation) to provide a record of that love story as it unfolds. Having had 3 home births personally, I have a deep love of midwifery and out-of-hospital births. I have experience with home and birth center births, hospital births (natural, inductions, epidurals, & cesareans), stillbirths & miscarriage, twins, VBAC, and breech birth.

Hello! My name is Serena, and I am a labor doula, placenta encapsulator, and postpartum doula! I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, and if I’m not working I'm usually with them watching TV. My all time favorite shows are Doctor Who and New Girl, though I’m sure you’d have a hard time finding a show I haven’t seen! I also enjoy reading, hiking, playing games, and spending time with my family. My first step into the doula world was becoming a Postpartum doula. This felt very natural to me, as I have been working in childcare for what feels like my whole life! I started off babysitting for my siblings and my parent’s friends when I was younger, became a teacher in the infant room of a daycare at 18, and a postpartum doula at 21. I decided to step into this field because I love helping families adjust to having a new little one! Supporting labor and delivery was a natural transition as I began working as a doula and stepping more and more into the birthing world. Labor and delivery is truly one of the most beautiful and fascinating events I’ve had the honor of witnessing, and I knew instantly that this is exactly what I was meant to do. That’s such a hard question to answer! For postpartum work, I’d have to say it’s the moments when something finally clicks into place. There's always some trial and error with each baby since they each have their own preferences and personalities, but I love the moments when you figure out how they like to be burped, the quickest way to get them sleeping, which formula works for them, and everything in between! I know it's not possible for me to fix every problem that arises, but it always such a relief when I can help with one. Adjusting to this new chapter of your life can be such a chaotic time, and I truly believe it takes a village! For birth work, my favorite part is seeing birthing people reach deep inside themselves and finding strength they never knew they had. The absolute relief and joy I can see on their face as they hold their little one in their arms for the first time always brings tears to my eyes.
