I’m Connie Lambeth, a Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Midwife. My love of birth started as a preschooler — when my mother asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up — I knew I wanted to catch babies. I had the ability to receive midwifery care during both of my pregnancies and births, and postpartum experiences. Directly benefitting from midwifery care lit the fire in my life of what is possible for individualized holistic healthcare. I’ve been professionally involved in birthwork since 2015, first as a certified doula and Hypnobirthing childbirth educator, and now as a midwife. I earned my midwifery degree from the National College of Midwifery based out of Taos, NM, and studied my hands-on learning over an intensive two years. I had the honor of apprenticing with two home birth midwives in the Madison area, and at a high volume out-of-hospital birth center in Milwaukee under the guidance of five midwives and one physician. Before becoming a midwife, I was a teacher (I’ve taught early childhood to adult learners, from Public to Montessori), with a Master’s Degree in Educational Research. As a lifelong learner and experiential educator, I see pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and parenting as life’s greatest experiential lessons. Although I don’t teach in a classroom anymore, I use my background as a teacher, educator, and researcher to help families to make informed choices and feel supported while they grow. I’m committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in my practice of culturally competent and comprehensive midwifery care. I value each individual navigating their childbearing year tremendously and strive to do everything I can do to support them in reaching their goals. Helping individuals and their families during one of the most influential transitions of their lives speaks to my values and most natural skill set: compassion, empathy, and openness.

Hi, I'm Jennifer! I am thrilled to be a Co-Founder of Stateline BirthKeepers. I am a mother of 4 children, a certified EMT, a yoga instructor, and a homesteader. I have been working in the birthing world for the past 15 years as a birth doula since I received my training through DONA International in Chicago, IL, from some of the most amazing women. I am also our facilitator of the Closing of the Bones Ceremonies, a certified dancing for birth instructor, and a placenta encapsulation specialist. I provide other services such as Belly Casting, Rebozo techniques, Birth Photography and blessing way ceremonies. I accept no more than 2 birth doula clients each month, so you can rest easy. I can't wait to meet you and I look forward to assisting you on this journey to meeting your baby!

Jennifer was amazing and an essential part of my labor. I was becoming a new mom, and very nervous about what labor would bring. I was committed to an unmedicated labor and my goal was a water birth. With Jennifer by my side, I felt safe and secure despite the arduous task I was facing. My husband was there beside me, but he was as fearful as I was, if not more. Thankfully Jennifer knew how to keep me calm, but help me progress along. When my laboring slowed in the warm water, she had me exit the tub and got my husband involved with supporting my weight to sway back and forth in a squatting position and lower the baby into the birth canal. Jennifer knows how to manage various challenging circumstances that arise. My midwife was great, but I learned with a few labors that they are not very participatory throughout the labor. For this reason, having a doula in the process is extremely important, and Jennifer is well equipped to properly support a woman on her birthing journey.

At Stateline Birth Keepers, our goal is to support and empower families through life's most transformative experiences. Founded in 2024, we combine our unique experiences and expertise to provide compassionate, personalized care. We recognize that pregnancy, birth, and postpartum are deeply personal and emotional journeys, not just medical events. By pooling our skills, we offer holistic care that addresses the physical, emotional, and informational needs of the families we serve in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. My journey into birth work began in 2015 when I was supported during my son's birth by a doula. Inspired, I pursued certification and have since worked with diverse families in various settings across four states. As a mom of two earth side kids, one angel baby, I have personal experience with breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing, and baby-led weaning. My son was born in a hospital with a failed epidural, and my daughter had a dramatic, unassisted yet absolutely beautiful home birth. Passionate about self care, my specialty and focus space is overnight newborn care support. I work with non-traditional families, and assist with trauma healing, I support single parents, LGBTQIA+, many different families with a variety of spiritual beliefs, supporting families through pregnancy losses, terminal diagnoses, stillbirths, and chosen losses. An adoptee myself, I also support adoption processes. Outside of Stateline Birth Keepers, I advocate for local foster youth, coach youth sports, and engage in the public educational system. I enjoy outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and paddle boarding, and I also enjoy crafting and thrifting during colder weather. Life’s an adventure, and I embrace every moment with a big smile and an open heart. I look forward to being a part of your unique and beautiful journey.

Every childbearing person deserves to feel supported, prepared, and unafraid as they navigate the wonders of pregnancy and childbirth. I’m both passionate and absolutely fascinated by this right of passage, and it is my highest privilege to guide others within their own birth stories. I became interested in childbirth education and birthwork when I was pregnant with our first baby. My partner and I attended a Bradley Method course kind of as a fluke, and it was life-changing. I did not realize how much I did not know! In addition to completing the Bradley Method course and experiencing the birth of my two children, I have worked in child and infant care for many years, including private nanny services, NatureSense Childcare Center, and The Madison Isthmus Montesorri Nedo (or nursery). I completed my Full Spectrum Doula Training, including prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care, as well as training in fetal positioning and lactation support with Cornerstone Birthwork Training, and am certified in Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid through the Red Cross. I specialize in whole-food nutrition and dietary considerations for those with autoimmune disease and chronic illness. I live with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Crohn’s Disease and have been developing and collecting recipes and home remedies for over 10 years! I’m an expert swaddler, baby bather, sleep wrangler, lullaby lilter, routine guru, space optimizing organizer, Story reader, and love to color and play Legos with kid siblings.

Leah was there for me 24/7 if I needed her or had a question, and has been 100% there for us from prenatal to postpartum. She kept me grounded and connected to what was happening to my body throughout my pregnancy and was knowledgeable about what I could do to help ease any pain or discomfort. Leah thoroughly prepared me for and guided me through each stage of labor and taught me how to recognize when it was time to go to the hospital. Leah offered so much support and reminded me that this is my pregnancy, my body, and while in the hospital, my voice is important. She made sure I understood that I had the right to ask questions and to say no at any point. She made me feel empowered. After our baby was born, Leah helped us feel confident in our abilities and has been an invaluable presence in our household for these first months. We are so happy to have had her by our side through this amazing experience.
