My name is Kristen Gaither and I'm a certified birth doula. I trained in 2021 with Jamaa Birth Village in Ferguson and again in 2024 with Childbirth International. My passion for supporting birth came after the birth of my second daughter, when I experienced an overwhelmingly peaceful and powerful birth. Though my own experience led me to this work, my goal isn't to recreate an experience, but to help you discover the information and desires that bring you empowerment and peace throughout the process. Outside of doula work, my background is in social work, college ministry, and non-profit work. When I'm not supporting families, I enjoy spending time with my husband and three kids, seeing live music, and deep conversations over good coffee.

Kristen was everything I could have asked for in a doula plus more. It can be scary walking into birth for the first time, but both my husband and I felt so educated and empowered because of Kristen’s services leading up to and during my birth. She was always available to answer any questions with evidence-based answers, as well as helping me process some of my fears and anxieties prior. Her services felt both extremely professional as well as personal. She was such a calming and encouraging presence during my entire labor, I don’t know that I could have gotten through it without her. We couldn’t recommend her enough.

Emily was my doula for two of my babies, first as a post partum doula and then as my birth doula. She is compassionate, thoughtful, dedicated, and so joyful. Her impact was felt in her encouragement from the first contractions to learning how to breastfeed. She was a supportive and calming presence in otherwise chaotic times, and very attentive to the needs of the moment. When it got tough, I was so glad to have Emily to keep me grounded. She would be an amazing support for any mom.

My experience with Carolyn was amazing. From our first virtual meeting up to and through my labor and delivery she made me and my husband feel comfortable, supported, and confident. Carolyn helped me with crafting my birth plan so that I could effectively communicate with hospital staff. She supported my wants/needs during labor both mentally and physically . It was so special to have her by my side as I gave birth to my first child.

Hiring the right Doula was an incredibly important and necessary part of my birth story. I was terrified to give birth due to past trauma and fear of the unknown. I needed someone by my side to teach me what to expect and to be my advocate. Sarah fully prepared me for the expected and unexpected. She was my advocate, cheerleader, and friend through the entire process. I felt prepared and was able to be fully present for the birth of my son. I felt, and feel, she really cares for me. Sarah continues to check on me (4 months PP). I don't think this is a job for her, but a calling for those who need her. Hiring Sarah was the best decision I could have made. If an informed and beautiful experience is what you desire, consider Sarah.

I became a doula to inform moms of things they may not be aware of. To support and care for women in such a sacred time is an honor. I want to do my best to decrease the maternal mortality rate for black women by ensuring they stand firm in their decisions and question any and everything. I offer pregnancy, birth and postpartum doula services. I am also available for virtual doula services for those who are out of state/region.

I’m Kelley, St. Louis birth doula, mom to 3 boys, married to the guy I fell in love with in high school. I became obsessed with birth after our first was born via cesarean after an induction for “dates” for “failure to progress.” Air quotes intended. The disappointment I felt surprised me; I dove into research about birth in America. I learned all about my fertility, chose a provider who would be supportive of a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), and hired a doula. Best laid plans and all that… I had a cesarean for high blood pressure at 42 weeks. I definitely still felt disappointed over his birth, but because I was educated and well supported, I knew we had made the best decisions with the options we had. I still planned for VBA2C for baby #3, and was able to push him out of my body right into his daddy’s hands – with a lot of help from my medical team for high blood pressure again, and so much support from my doula. When my former industry got flip-turned upside down and my structural engineering days were forced to end, I decided to follow my passion and dreams and become a birth doula, and now life has moved us from our native Houston to St. Louis. I see my role as a birth doula like being a good coach. I’m on the sidelines with all the information for you, but you’re the one who has to execute the plays. I’m here to educate you and support you whether you’re having a baby at home in the water with twinkle lights, epidural or not at the hospital, or a planned cesarean. I’m going to meet you where you are and dig down into that hole with you. And after the baby is here and you’re overwhelmed, I’m available to help you out, listen to you, and get you through those first few weeks. When I’m not doula-ing, I’m training Jiu Jitsu, at the baseball fields, a wrestling meet, a choir or band event, playing banjo, or I’ve got my nose stuck in a book. And I’m always down for some Tex-Mex.

Kelley is the absolute best! From the moment we started working with Kelley during my first pregnancy, I knew she was the perfect fit for our birth team. I wanted to approach birth like an athlete—mentally and physically prepared, with a strong advocate by my side—and Kelley was exactly that. She was both coach and champion for me and my husband, ensuring we felt confident, informed, and supported every step of the way. When labor came, she was instrumental in helping me stay focused and in control. The movements she guided me through were game-changers, especially when my baby’s heart rate fluctuated during contractions. Thanks to her expertise, we were able to avoid additional interventions and stay on track for the vaginal birth I had planned. The nurses were raving about Kelley, praising how seamlessly she worked with them, understanding the plan of care and adjusting strategies in real time. Her presence brought a sense of calm, strength, and reassurance that I truly believe made all the difference in my experience. Without a doubt, Kelley will be a part of our birth team again when we welcome our next child. If you’re looking for a doula who will advocate fiercely, support you completely, and help you approach birth with confidence, Kelley is the one you want by your side. Thank you, Kelley, for being such an incredible part of our journey!
