After the birth of my second child, I found myself struggling with postpartum depression. Even though I had a good support system, there were many factors at play that left me feeling depressed, anxious, and like I wasn't a good mom.  Thankfully, I was able to receive appropriate care and I was soon feeling better! I felt so incredibly loved and held as I did the work to recover. Because of the wonderful support I experienced from the birth and postpartum world, I decided to transition from my former career of 16 years as a veterinary technician. I am currently in the process of becoming certified as a postpartum doula through CAPPA and I am so excited to continue supporting the new families in my community!

I love helping birthing people and their partners discover the magic of Birth Days. I love helping them realize that they have a voice in how the story of this day will go. Women are strong and when we educate them we empower them. I became a doula in 2019 and feel tremendous gratitude for each couple who has let me join them on their treasured day. I have 5 babies of my own, and was a gestational carrier for my last pregnancy. Each baby was born in their own unique way. I do not believe there is one right way to birth, rather there is one right way to treat the mother— with respect.

Meredith is a certified birth doula, postpartum doula, certified women’s hormone specialist, cycle + fertility coach, menstruation educator, and mother to three amazing kids, ages 7, 5 and 3. She loves everything about the menstrual cycle–hormones, menstruation, fertility, birth, postpartum, and menopause. She loves teaching women (and families) how to use their cycle to balance their lives (and their hormones) and accomplish their goals for growing their family, or not. But Birth has a special place in Meredith’s heart. She came to birth work on a Thursday afternoon driving home from her Human Resources job. She was complaining about her job to her sister and her sister’s response was, “you should go be a Doula”. What’s a Doula? After her sister explained what a Doula does, a voice inside of her said, “I was born to do that”. She was in Doula training the next month and she has never looked back. She loves being with families and witnessing their growth and transformation as they move through the birth and postpartum process. Hi, I'm Dez Weyburn. I have thirteen years of doula experience and have been able to support so many kinds of births. I love working with families who want to take charge of their own birth experience, however that looks to them. In the past year, I've sort of accidentally found a niche at supporting high risk births, so I'm well versed in how most of the local hospitals deal with labor complications. Beyond that, I'm well informed about supporting physiological births.
