Hey, I’m Kaleish, a public health practitioner, doctoral student (in public health) and a certified full-spectrum (birth, postpartum, NICU) doula. I am currently in training to be a high risk doula and a certified community breastfeeding educator. Think of me as your perinatal support person. I support women and birthing people of color who are feeling dismissed, unsure, or overwhelmed during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. I started this work because I realized how many women of color are navigating pregnancy without the support, guidance, or advocacy they deserve. It deeply concerns me how often Black and Brown women have their concerns dismissed by medical providers—sometimes resulting in traumatic and avoidable birth experiences. Now, I help women and birthing people of color move from feeling unheard and unsure to feeling informed, supported, and empowered to advocate for themselves and their birth preferences. If you’re a woman or birthing person of color feeling dismissed, unsure, or overwhelmed—you’re in the right place. This journey is yours. I’m simply here to hold space, answer your questions, and make sure you feel safe, seen, and supported every step of the way. Random Facts: I've supported births at Katz Women's Hospital at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Hungtinton Hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns and NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. I am a lefty/ left handed. I don't have a sense of direction even with a map, however, I will find my way to support you. I was born in the Caribbean and spent most of my childhood and some of my teenage years living there. I love me some 80s and 90s black sitcoms. Book Your Free Consultation: Book Now via https://calendly.com/kaysgentlehands/30min?back=1&month=2026-07

You shouldn’t have to go into birth or postpartum feeling unsure, overwhelmed, or alone. I’m a DONA-certified birth doula, and my role is to help you feel supported and steady as labor unfolds. I focus on helping you understand what’s happening in real time. Through pelvic dynamics, positioning, and movement, I guide you through labor in a way that supports progress while helping you stay grounded in the moment. We prepare ahead of time so you feel more familiar with how birth settings work and what to expect as decisions come up, instead of trying to figure it out on the spot. For clients continuing into postpartum, I offer hands-on support with recovery, feeding, and overnight care so the transition feels more manageable. Based in Rockland County, NY, I support clients across Northern NJ and the Hudson Valley. I’m also listed in the Carrot directory for reimbursement.

I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience with Mandi! From the very beginning, she brought such calm, positive energy and made me feel empowered, informed, and supported every step of the way. Her presence during labor was exactly what I needed—encouraging, grounding, and deeply compassionate. She listened to what I wanted, respected my choices, and offered gentle guidance when I needed it most. I felt truly seen and cared for. Having her by my side made a world of difference, and I’m so grateful she was part of my birth story. If you’re considering hiring a doula, stop searching—you’ve found the best. Thank you, Mandi, for being such a beautiful part of this journey!

My best friend asked me to be "her doula" 19 years ago. I flew to LA and planned to be there for 10 days in hopes the baby would come in that window of time. I sang and whispered into her belly and Introduced myself to her baby. We had quite a time during the labor as her midwives guided her through the experience. She was incredible! She chose a home birth which ended at the hospital. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Witnessing the birth was transcendent and inspiring! When I flew back to NYC, I vowed that when our youngest daughter was in college, I would become a Doula. I grew up in Minnesota. I graduated with a BFA from the acting program at the University of North Carolina School of the Performing Arts. I have a background in dance, singing, yoga and martial arts. I was an American Council of Exercise certified personal trainer for 12 years. When I became pregnant, becoming a certified prenatal trainer was ideal. I especially loved working with all my pregnant clients. Having an online health and wellness business with Arbonne International has been another passion of mine. Over the years, I have coached a team on how to build their own online businesses and shared this opportunity in a public speaking setting for large groups. I teach my clients the benefits of aligning with a vegan brand they can trust and the value of choosing a B corporation, and living a more green lifestyle. I am a certified Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula with the International Doula Institute. I am also certified as a Perinatal Nutrition Educator, Birth Educator and Lactation Counselor. I hold a certification in Diversity Equity and Inclusion. I am also first aid, AED/CPR certified for pediatric and adults through the Red cross. Being present, and relying on my emotional intelligence, knowledge and discernment, helps me to navigate how to best listen and anticipate a person's needs. I embody joyful humor as my way to serve others. I bring warm energy, passion and authenticity to the people I spend time with. I'm a lifelong student who loves to learn, grow and collaborate. I believe these qualities, as a birth team member, contribute to the overall outcome and experience of all involved. I live in Harlem with my husband. We have two daughters. Hobbies: singing in choir, biking, and lifting weights. I also enjoy baking, reading and traveling. I love conversations over dinner with my husband and friends, and going to the theater and jazz clubs. Walking in nature each day is key to living in my joy, and of course, fitting as many plants and flowers into our home as humanly possible!

Throughout my pregnancy, I always knew I wanted to hire a doula for birth support, and finding Julia felt like a sign from the universe. From our prenatal sessions and newborn care education to the moments after our son Theo was born, she brought such a calming, reassuring presence to our lives. When we learned that Theo was breech and that I would need a C-section, Julia was an incredible source of support. She helped me process the change in plans, navigate my emotions, and feel confident and empowered going into a birth experience that looked different than I had originally imagined. Julia met us exactly where we were and was both an incredible teacher and source of support. She offered practical guidance, emotional reassurance, and confidence when we needed it most, always making us feel seen, supported, and capable. She shared her expertise while helping us trust our own instincts as new parents. We are so grateful for Julia’s care, warmth, and knowledge during one of the most important chapters of our lives. We recommend her to any growing family. S.B. Brooklyn Mom

Mia became a part of our family shortly after the birth of our second child. Having hired an overnight doula for our first, we knew this time around, with two little ones under two, we’d need even more support. From the moment Mia arrived, she was extraordinary. She intuitively understood the rhythm of our home and our unique challenges. I trusted her completely with my newborn, which allowed me to give my toddler the attention she needed. Mia provided unwavering emotional support and was remarkably proactive, anticipating our needs before we could voice them. She brought calm and clarity during a time when I often felt overwhelmed, almost like the part of my brain that wasn’t functioning in the haze of postpartum. Whether it was preparing nourishing snacks, offering thoughtful breastfeeding support, or simply being a grounding presence, Mia was indispensable. Her presence during those intense early weeks was nothing short of a gift. I could not recommend Mia more highly. - Aisling S.

**Please note, all my reviews are available on DoulaMatch.Net and my website linked at the bottom of this page** :) As a birth + postpartum doula, childbirth educator, infant-feeding + lactation specialist, and IBCLC in training, Andreina has served the growing families of Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey since 2014. Her passion for birth work, expectant families, and newborns has been prevalent since she was a child- watching television series like TLC’s A Baby Story, which chronicled different birthing experiences throughout the United States. It was this initial peek into the sphere of birth in America that made Andreina aware of the disconnection that society had to an event so preternatural and fundamentally inherent such as birth. In her pursuit of restoring the sense of confidence and capacity in all birthing people, Andreina trained under renowned DONA International Doula trainer Rina Rios, and was subsequently selected to join the year-long Manhattan Birth training and mentorship program, led by doula turned home birth midwife, Tanya Wills CNM. Learning under these knowledgeable and influential women, Andreina gained invaluable knowledge that complemented her natural passion and innate skills in supporting expecting and newly postpartum individuals. Such skills and passion were further honed during Andreina’s own 72 hour home birth experience where she and her husband welcomed their son in 2022. With a bachelor of science from Iona University and five years of experience as a skilled pediatric phlebotomist, Andreina’s approach to childbirth, lactation, and postpartum melds the best of western medicine with the best of tried and true holistic care for all of her clients.
