I began my career as a birth professional in 2013 as a registered nurse, specializing in Labor & Delivery. I am also a certified doula and home birth midwife. I have worked as a travel nurse in different states, which has allowed me to learn a variety of useful methods and introduce them where beneficial to my birthing moms. It has been my pleasure to work with families of diverse backgrounds, helping them welcome their new baby into the world and fulfill their best possible pregnancy & birth experience. I enjoy working with women who labor with or without epidurals assisting them with massage, positioning, and breathing techniques to achieve a calming labor experience. I have attended over 2,000 births including water birth and cesarean deliveries. I completed my training and certification as a birth and bereavement doula through both the DONA International and Stillbirthday (bereavement) programs. I have also obtained certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to assist women in their breastfeeding goals. As a Chocolate Milk Cafe facilitator I hold monthly meetings to provide Black women and their families with breastfeeding support and resources. I have received training as an Evidence Based Birth Instructor through Evidence Based Birth. Additionally, I have completed training to become a fertility and pregnancy and infant loss (PAIL) advocate. As a registered nurse I hold certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), AWOHNN Fetal Monitoring (Intermediate & Advanced), and Safe Sleep. My goal is to help educate mothers and families to be as prepared as possible for the childbirth experience and help them to adjust thereafter. I offer hands-on support, as well as help mom understand each step of the labor/birth process so she may better voice her desires to her provider (MD/CNM). I am very open and willing to answer mom/family questions and address any expressed concerns. Sharing the birthing process and miracle of life is my passion. I know that the birthing process can be very overwhelming and my focus is to help diminish any sense of fear and replace it with knowledge and empowerment. I promise to hold your hand every step of the way so #Let’sHaveABaby! **I AM UNABLE TO SEE MESSAGES!** To connect Please schedule a consult via my website www.laboredwithlove.com 913-543-1077

I highly recommend! Lydia is a midwife, experienced, and completely trustworthy midwife. She and her entire team do a fantastic job; they have been like my support system throughout my pregnancy and childbirth journey. I will definitely return to them in the future. My overall pregnancy birth and experience is happy and satisfied. I share my experience with my family and it has changed how they think about natural home birth. I came to Lydia at the beginning of my pregnancy and enjoyed everything about the whole process. All of the preparations we did with Lydia were important beginning to end. Having a midwife at the birth made me feel safe and more comfortable.

For me the presence of Aneliz was priceless, her experience with labor and her experience inside and outside the health system were very important and reassuring. Aneliz also brings her Christian Faith into the process, which for my wife and I was extremely helpful. Also, her Spanish speaking was hugely helpful for my wife. We can´t recommend her enough."

My passion as a doula is empowering pregnant women to take control of their prenatal preparation. I learned with my first pregnancy that birth is a huge physical feat, so I give you tools and simple movement exercises (that I wish I had back then!) which will train and balance your body specifically for the task at hand: pregnancy, birth, and recovery. I hired a doula for my first two births and I was SO grateful for that decision!! I gave birth at a free-standing birth center, with the support of her and my spouse. If it wasn't for my doula, I know I would not have made it through the marathon of labor! I came away feeling supported and strong. I was certified as a doula in 2016 and then in 2022 trained as a Body Ready Method Pro & Childbirth Educator. My wish is for everyone to be able to bring their baby into the world feeling supported, cared for, and prepared. I believe in the empowerment that comes from taking charge of your own labor which reveals a deeper strength you didn't know was there. You deserve a strong support system so that you can have a beautiful birth experience.

We hired Betsy for labor and delivery support early in pregnancy upon the advice of some friends, and was it ever good advice! Betsy is kind, a good listener, and full of compassionate advice earned from her professional training, her on-the-job years as a doula, and her own experiences as a mother of 4. She took the time to understand our circumstances and questions, and offered lots of education and reassurance at our prenatal meetings. She helped us articulate the birth plan we hoped for and even attended a prenatal OB checkup with us. The day before baby was born, Betsy was only a detailed text away, advising us from the onset of labor and through late-stage contractions with us at home before helping decide when to go to the hospital and aiding us there too. She helped us physically manage contractions at the hospital and navigate decision-making late in labor. Less than 3 hours later, we were holding our baby! Her presence, plus the very useful labor prep classes hosted by her and her doula partners, helped me build strength for the natural no-meds birth I hoped for! She supported me AND my spouse, especially so during labor, all along the way, staying with us a few hours postpartum too. She shared kind gifts and visited us at home days later, and continues to provide guidance and camaraderie at a weekly mom’s group. I strongly recommend Betsy’s doula services to all!

Greetings to you all! My name is Ana and I am a Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Breastfeeding Counselor & Student Midwife located in the Kansas City Metro Area. I believe education in this field is continuous, not just from all the various certifications alone but from experience in how to lovingly handle the range of possible outcomes of birth. The perinatal time is precious as it cannot be recreated. It is the foundation on which the family's future healing is built, and careful empathetic care during that time can positively influence the way the family heals and integrates. Thus, I help my clients discover what they want and facilitate learning & a plan to accomplish it. My services are designed and tailored on an individual basis, specific to each unique pregnancy and desired birth experience. Embracing the whole and not just the parts to offer you the support you need to birth as you choose and to help you facilitate the right atmosphere for a calm & peaceful birth.

The service that I looked over and read about is exactly what I recieved! She took her time explaining things to me wether it was options in health care or what things I could eat to better my health and also things high in nutrients that are needed for me and baby. She was super helpful with assisting me ensure all my questions and some I didnt think to ask were asked while at the doctor appointments. She helped me figure out a successful birth plan and sent me information (videos, articles, slideshows) as well to help me better understand why a birth plan is so important. Overall will definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable and helpful doula.

Kayla Morrison

3 years of experience

Hi there! I’m Kayla Morrison, and my work as a birth doula is driven by a deep mission to provide the advocacy and protection that every family deserves. I was inspired to enter this field after witnessing the neglect my own family members faced within the healthcare system. These personal experiences, combined with the critical need to address the Black maternal mortality rate, fuel my passion for being a shield for my clients—ensuring you are heard, respected, and safely cared for throughout your journey. My philosophy centers on holistic emotional and physical support. As a certified herbalist, I don't just focus on the birth itself; I use my knowledge of plants to support your emotional well-being and hormonal balance during the intense postpartum transition. Whether it's through calming nervines to ease anxiety or nutritive herbs to replenish your energy, I aim to nurture your spirit as much as your body. My background in breastfeeding and child education further ensures you have a confident, evidence-based foundation for early parenthood. I also believe that a peaceful home is essential for a smooth transition. I offer unique guidance on bringing babies home to pets, helping you set up your nursery and home rhythm in a way that makes your animals feel secure and included. My goal is to provide a "supportive safety net" for your entire household, bridging gaps in care with compassion, education, and unwavering advocacy. I look forward to providing you with virtual care

Sara McAdoo

Hi! I’m Sara McAdoo and I am a certified birth doula and a prenatal yoga instructor in the Kansas City area and am passionate about families honoring God in their births. I am a wife, mother to 4 amazing young kids, homeschooler, avid baker, budding herbalist, gardener, bzzzy beekeeper, and backyard chicken keeper. I create herbal teas specifically for the pregnant and postpartum mama (Gen 1:29-30). I am active in our church, especially in the children’s department. I enjoy making sourdough, baking goody treats, spending time in my garden, visiting local farmers markets, and volunteering in children’s church and children’s quizzing at our local church. I am passionate about helping moms and partners feel empowered and confident about their birth decisions all throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey! My journey to become a doula came from my own experiences of birth, growth, faith, and support. My first birth experience ended up being a cesarean birth. At age 35, I knew I wanted to try for a VBAC with my second. My provider said they supported it but they also wanted me to schedule a c-section just in case. At 39 weeks, I was not being supported by my birth provider and with the help of my doula, I switched providers and had a successful and fully supported natural VBAC in the hospital. My last 2 births were at home surrounded with love and support and calm. Through my personal experiences, I want to educate, support, and empower moms and families to believe in themselves and surrender to this amazing birth they desire.

There aren’t words to describe how grateful we are for Sara and her wisdom, encouragement, and steady confidence throughout my pregnancy, the birth of our baby boy, and even now postpartum. We are eternally grateful for her involvement in this crazy wonderful experience and cannot imagine it without her. What meant the most to me was Sara’s care in taking the time to get to know US (both my husband and I) and the birth experience we envisioned. It was very important to me that my husband was able to be my primary support person and that he felt fully equipped to do so - Sara absolutely made that happen, and my husband was able to be 100% present and involved in every moment. Sara really went above and beyond for us at every stage of pregnancy and the birthing process, somehow knowing what both my husband and I needed before we even did. By the time of our son’s birth, we felt so comfortable with Sara and were able to achieve the beautiful, unmedicated birth we prayed for - she instilled so much confidence in me and the body and baby God gave me. We will absolutely be using Sara as our doula for our next baby!! Would recommend her over and over again.
