I recently became a mother in 2020 and to be honest, I didn’t have a great birth experience. Which is pretty normal. Until I learned that it didn’t have to be this way, which inspired my passion for birth work. I want birthing people to be empowered in their births and have the best experience possible. I approach birth holistically, and I feel honored to be able to share years of expertise with birthing people and their families in the NOVA and Richmond area. ​ Every woman deserves to have someone there to guide and assist them in making educated choices about their pregnancy, and remind them that they can trust the strength of their bodies during this time. My journey into birth work began with my own two births — each one different, each one teaching me something profound about the power of support, advocacy, and feeling truly seen. Those experiences lit a fire in me that led me to become a birth doula in 2018, where I have had the privilege of serving families through the DC Birth Doula community. I am also a Lamaze-trained Childbirth Educator, currently in the process of recertification, and I teach childbirth education, newborn care, and infant feeding to help families feel informed and confident as they step into parenthood. I am also deepening my expertise by studying to become a Lactation Counselor through Childbirth International, because I believe that support doesn't end at birth. It's just the beginning.

I decided I wanted to Start my birthworker journey, when my unmedicated natural birth turned into a emergency C-section. Even though, I had labored at a birth center with 2 midwives. The decides to transfer me after several days of prodromal labor. My experience at the hospital was very traumatic, and left me unaware and sad. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about my experience. But my doula encouraged me to talk about it. I realized I wanted to be for other pregnant women and make a difference in how we care for pregnant women during and after their pregnancy. As a POC birthworker, I am dedicated to help women of all walks connect better with their bodies and babies,throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey.my mission is to prepare women by educating them about their birth rights, pregnancy/labor & medical interventions.I want women to feel more empowered and confident in every aspect about their birth. I am determined to increase awareness of birthing trauma; even more so, for women of color.
