Two doulas, one team: you shouldn’t have to hope the right doula is available the night you go into labor. Ava and I attend every prenatal visit together, with direct, ongoing access to both of us throughout your pregnancy, so you know and trust us before labor begins. We alternate on-call weeks, so whichever of us is with you at your birth, the other is your backup — meaning the person supporting you already knows your story, your preferences, and your fears, because we built your care plan together from day one. We work alongside your medical providers, not around them, to help you understand your options, advocate for yourself, and feel calm, confident, and fully supported through labor and birth.

This is a quote that has stuck with me as I explore my career path. Becoming a doula is something I did not follow through with until the murder of George Floyd. Seeing the striking images of pregnant Black mothers protesting around the country ignited the fire in me to finally complete my training to become a certified perinatal educator - meaning I can provide childbirth education, prenatal support, labor and delivery support, lactation support, and newborn care support. But my calling to birth work started on the day I was born with my mother being hospitalized for 2 months postpartum from an avoidable mistake during an emergency c-section. I value empathy, collaboration, and being open minded. As a doula, I am intentional about serving my clients in a way that supports self-empowerment, so they feel they have all the information they feel they need to make the best decision for them and their baby/babies. I do not shy away from vulnerability, and I believe this allows me to have relationships with my clients built on trust.

Jerriah Marie (She/Her)… is a wellness practitioner, birth worker, and medicine wombman located in the twin cities. When she is not serving families in the birth space you can find her writing poetry, whipping up herbal remedies in her kitchen, and sharing cuddles with her daughter Leilani. Her passion for birth work began at age 5. After witness her first birth, she knew that being a birthworker was her mission. As a young adult Jerriah was always deeply moved by birth and found her way supporting family members and friends during their labor. It wasn't until 2020, after the birth of her daughter, that this spark reignited back into her life and she dove deep into the meaningful work that she now does as a birth worker. After completing a B.S. at the University of Minnesota and a stint living in France, I started working as a consultant for our local utility companies, implementing an energy efficiency program for new home construction. By this time I was deep into a yoga practice and took a yoga teacher training at Yess Yoga in 2018. I learned so much and it exposed me to many holistic practices within the 8 limbs of yoga. Meanwhile, my all-female consulting team started expecting. They would come to the office with so much new information and questions after doctor/midwife appointments, not to mention what everyone was saying on the internet! I was so curious about it all! I discovered what a doula was and that people did it as a profession. Not long after I am happy to say I found a doula training and haven’t looked back.

Hello, my name is Amanda Jurrens, and I am deeply honored to walk alongside you on one of the most transformative days of your life, the day you welcome your child into the world. My journey into birth work began with nearly a decade of experience in the assisted reproductive technology industry, both professionally and personally as a three-time gestational carrier. Those experiences lit a fire in me that has only grown stronger with time. Over the years I have had the privilege of supporting many births, and each one has deepened my reverence for the incredible things the human body is capable of. I am, at heart, a total birth nerd, especially when it comes to the biomechanics of labor. I am endlessly fascinated by pelvic dynamics: how the pelvis moves, how a baby navigates through it, and how small positional shifts can open space and work with physiology rather than against it. This passion led me to complete training in the Body Ready Method, an evidence-based approach focused on preparing the body for physiologic birth. Understanding the interplay between posture, movement, and fetal positioning is not just an intellectual interest for me. It is something I bring directly to your labor support. I believe deeply in physiologic birth, in trusting the process, working with the body's wisdom, and creating the conditions for birth to unfold as naturally as possible. I completed my Full Spectrum Doula Training, including prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care, as well as training in fetal positioning and lactation support with Cornerstone Birthwork Training, and am certified in Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid through the Red Cross.
