I am a mother of 2 beautiful children. My daughter was born in the Fall of 2020, and I felt like life had failed to prepare me for all things birth related. I knew nothing about pregnancy, birth, or postpartum. I had dreamt for years about getting pregnant, and I wanted nothing more than to be a mom. When it finally happened, I felt so unprepared. I was confused why my friends on social media looked like they had it all together. How did they look so well rested after having baby? How did they not have any problems with labor? How did they look so happy pregnant? How come their baby is latching and mine isn’t? It took me months, a supportive partner, and an amazing counselor to realize that I was normal. These are things that a lot of parents deal with, and I am here to tell you, that is okay!
