Welcome families! My name is Katherine, and I am a new birth doula serving all of Connecticut, as well as southern Massachusetts. Being a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I pride myself on providing a welcoming and accepting space for all. I provide emotional and practical support to the birthing couple in hopes of easing the stress of delivery, and increasing the joy of bringing your baby home! I work with families on creating birth plans and helping them advocate for that plan during labor and delivery. I am knowledgable on labor stages, fetal positions, and emergency situations, which will help to put your mind at ease! Whether it's through massage techniques, changes in position, breathing strategies, or something as small as lighting candles, I strive to make the birthing experience as calming as possible. My job as a doula is not to take over the role of the partner, but to guide the family to advocate for themselves in the labor and birthing space. As long as I have walked the earth, I have been perceived as a creative to the core, a visual artist, and a classical musician. My BFA in Fashion and Textile Design from FIT helped commit that identity but I was always attracted to helping people and understanding how the body works. A few years later, that curiosity challenged me to enroll in a course that was the complete opposite of what I had always been. I survived, flourished, and was 1 of 7 people to graduate from an intense 40 week program when I became a Certified Surgical Technologist. My graduation coincided with becoming pregnant 3 months later, and 9 months after that I graciously took on my next job, being a mommy! Along the way, I worked on my art, let my CST lapse, picked up my bass to occasionally play in orchestras, and had 2 more babies. My family was my focus but as children got older, I found more flexibility to explore the other facets of myself. I have had the luxury to develop my own body of fine art, play in an international orchestra, and discover the incredible gift of being a doula! My background as an artist and musician has taught me how to improvise and individualize every situation based on essential evidence-based ideals. My focus is to give each family a positive, special birth experience. I utilize professional resources, analogies, images, stories, and humor into our time together. My first support opportunities were with three very gracious young ladies at the Malta House. It was through their need for education that I learned how to teach about childbirth, their right to a beautiful birth experience taught me commitment, and their desire for unwavering companionship taught me how to support. ​I have since earned additional certifications in lactation consulting, childbirth education, and body preparedness for labor in order to better support women in the perinatal space. I am proud to support women in a variety of environments to help advocate for their desired birth!

I’m Franciska Farkas, a Board Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner, Certified Full Spectrum Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, integrative pelvic floor specialist, and Yoga, meditation, and breath work teacher of over 20 years. I serve clients in and out of hospital and provide fertility, pregnancy, labor, and postpartum support. My doula practice is grounded in evidence-based research as well as traditional practices from Ayurveda, the holistic medicine system of India. As a Board Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner I work with clients through my practice, GroundWork Ayurveda + Wellness, to reinforce the connection between food, mind, emotions, and spirit. My name is Fable Rodgers-Kurilenko and i've been a practicing Postpartum Doula(and occasional Birth Doula) for nearly two years after a long history with Nannying and being a Daycare teacher. I became a Doula because I longed to become more connected to families and mothers but within the Daycare setting due to conflicts of interest, was un able to do so. I had been interested in doula work since my early teens. My mother even bought me birth books in high school! That's when I left the daycare setting (returning to nannying for a time while I was in school) and got my doula certification. Later that year I began practicing first in births, then I found that my true love was postpartum. Now I am a mother myself as of last year and can truly understand the importance of postpartum care. My husband and I could not have survived the newborn stage without the help of family, friends (and a doula) and it is such a joy getting to support Mothers and Fathers through the most vulnerable time is their lives.
