This is my first pregnancy. I’m looking to have an at home water birth BUT if that isn’t in the cards I’ll do a hospital water birth and I want to be surrounded by a black woman or even multiple black women who understand what it’s like to not be seen or heard. I want them advocating in the event I’m not able to advocate for myself. I want someone with a more natural and holistic approach because my partner and I aren’t religious people. Our budget is 2k or less.

5 nights a week for the first 8 weeks. Will work with schedules

I’m hoping to find someone who can provide compassionate, nonjudgmental support as I adjust to motherhood and recover after birth. I’m especially interested in help with newborn care, breastfeeding/feeding support, soothing and settling the baby, light postpartum household support, and emotional reassurance during those first weeks. I would also appreciate someone who can help me feel confident caring for my baby rather than making me feel judged or overwhelmed. Having someone who is patient, warm, respectful of my boundaries, and comfortable working with my support system is very important to me. We are first-time intended parents expecting a baby via gestational surrogacy around October 20 in Marietta, Ohio. We are looking for an experienced, certified Newborn Care Specialist (NCS), postpartum doula, or similarly qualified newborn professional to support us during the first several days after birth and ideally accompany us on our drive home to New York City. We expect to remain in Marietta for approximately 3–5 days after hospital discharge and would like hands-on support with newborn feeding, diapering, soothing, safe sleep, bottle preparation/sterilization, and establishing a manageable routine as new parents. Experience caring for newborns from the first days of life is essential; experience working with intended parents/surrogacy families would be a strong plus. We are currently planning to drive from Marietta, OH to New York City, likely splitting the journey over two days with an overnight hotel stop. We would ideally like the provider to travel with us and help care for the baby safely during the trip. We will cover agreed-upon travel expenses, hotel accommodations, and meals/per diem in addition to compensation. Our dates will depend on the actual delivery date, so some flexibility around timing is important. We are happy to discuss an appropriate hourly or daily rate based on experience and the exact schedule. We are primarily looking for someone warm, calm, highly experienced with newborns, and comfortable helping first-time parents gain confidence during those first few days.
