Hey, I’m Elliot. I’m a THW‑certified doula based in Portland, Oregon. I’ve always been drawn to supporting pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood, and I’m honored to walk alongside families during such a meaningful, transformative time. As a trans man, I also recognize how often queer people and their families are underrepresented and underserved in medical settings. My practice centers LGBT+ parents and is grounded in trauma‑informed, non‑judgmental care through a lens of reproductive justice—so birthing parents and their partners feel empowered to make informed decisions about their bodies and their care. I bring patience, calm, and genuine curiosity to every birth space. I’m a steady listener, an advocate when needed, and a gentle presence when quiet support is best. When I’m off‑call, you’ll find me making art, writing, cuddling my cats, or happily bumbling through a new videogame. If you’re seeking affirming support for your pregnancy and birth, I’d love to connect. I completed my initial training through Cornerstone Doula Trainings, and am fully THW certified through Mother Tree Birth. I've taken a cultural competency course -- including trauma informed care, interprofessional collaboration, and HIPAA training –, also through Mother Tree Birth; and I've also completed an Oral Health course and an adult/child CPR training course. I’m happy to provide documentation for all of the above, feel free to ask!

Barb Buckner Suarez

29 years of experience

Barb Buckner Suárez is a Health Educator specializing in pregnancy, birth, and parenting. She’s taught thousands of couples for over 25+ years about the benefits of embracing the vulnerability that comes with becoming a parent. Barb’s a Lamaze-Certified Childbirth Educator, a Fellow in the Academy of Certified Childbirth Educators, a Certified Becoming Us Facilitator, and Mentor for Becoming Us Facilitators. She’s also a professed “brain nerd” and holds a Masters Level Certificate in Interpersonal Neurobiology. And she's added the certification as a Resonant Healing Practitioner to her CV helping families integrate their birth experience - especially if their was any resulting trauma. Barb’s fascinated with the science behind the “Couples Connection” classes she created to help strengthen the connection between the birthing person and their partner, so that no matter how birth unfolds, their baby can be born into that strong and loving connection. She believes that connection is everything… and it begins with birth. Barb believes that pregnancy, birth, and parenting are truly transformative experiences and hopes to support all families at every point in their parenthood journey. She works with families in small groups or in private sessions via ZOOM or in-person and offers these services: Pregnancy Curious/Early Pregnancy, Childbirth Preparation, Comfort In Labor, Couples Connection, Becoming Us BEFORE/AFTER Baby, Couples Coaching, & Birth Integration Sessions. Barb also hosts a podcast “Birth Happens,” as yet another way to support expecting and new families in the most important work they will ever do: raising the next generation. In her free time, she spends as much of it as possible with Roberto, her BFF & husband of 28+ years. Together they’re raising their four kids Elisa, Alejandro Lucía and Félix, and taking Chico the WonderDog on as many walks as possible.

Stormy Mckinney

Hello, I’m Stormy McKinney, a birth doula serving families in Oregon. Supporting birthing people is more than a career for me—it’s a calling shaped by my own experiences, my heart for caregiving, and my deep belief that no one should ever feel alone during birth. My journey into birth work began after having two difficult birth experiences of my own. I didn’t have the support I needed, and I carried that feeling of being unheard and overwhelmed for a long time. Later, I spent years caring for my grandmother, and although I loved being there for her, after she passed I knew I wanted to help people in a different way. When I discovered what doulas do, something clicked. I realized I wanted to be the person I never had—someone who advocates, comforts, and helps birthing people relax into their own strength. I completed my Birth Doula and Postpartum care Training with Doula Love LLC in Portland, OR continued my education with additional training in trauma-informed care, oral health, cultural competency, CPR for adults/children/infants (for nurses), and basic lactation support. My approach is grounded in compassion, kindness, and a genuine desire to help families feel safe, informed, and supported. I’m a little shy at first, but I warm up quickly. I have ADHD, so every now and then I get a burst of energy—usually in a fun, optimistic way. I’m also disabled and live with POTS, but it doesn’t stop me from showing up fully for the families I support. I’m a young doula at 25, a mom of two, an animal lover, I love waterfalls, and a bit of a video-game nerd, Anima is a big part of my time. All of these pieces of me shape the warmth and understanding I bring into my work. I believe birth should feel supported, respected, and never lonely. I would be honored to walk beside you as you welcome your baby into the world.
