While my kiddo and I are happy and healthy today, our early years were marked by unexpected hospital stays, long periods of solo parenting, and eventually the work of building a successful co-parenting relationship. These experiences shaped me deeply and ignited my passion for supporting families navigating recovery, mental health challenges, past trauma, limited support systems, and complex family dynamics. When I gave birth in 2013, I had no idea postpartum doula support even existed. I believed new parents were simply supposed to figure it out on their own, and if they struggled, it meant they were failing. I now know how UNTRUE and harmful that belief can be. Before becoming a postpartum doula, I spent more than 20 years working as a nanny and childcare provider and earned an associate degree in pre-education.
