Having Vee as our postpartum doula was one of the best decisions I made. We worked with her several nights a week over a five-week period, and she was a wonderful support during those early weeks with our son. I felt very comfortable leaving him with her, which allowed me to get a few extra hours of sleep and rest. Furthermore, it was very reassuring to have someone knowledgeable observing him during those weeks, helping us identify patterns in his behavior, preferences or any discomfort he might be having. Vee was not only very caring and attentive with our baby, but also incredibly supportive and thoughtful towards me as a new mom. She was always calm, reassuring, and understanding of what I needed, which made having her around feel very easy and comfortable. We really appreciated her help and would definitely recommend her to other new parents.

Hi, I'm Courtney, founder of Golden Hour Care LLC, supporting families across Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia. As a Certified Labor Doula (CLD) and Certified Postpartum Doula (CPD) through Birth & Baby University, I walk with you from pregnancy through those first weeks home. In labor, I'm your steady presence: comfort measures, position changes, help understanding your options, and support speaking up for what you want, whether you're planning an unmedicated birth, an epidural, an induction, or a cesarean. After baby arrives, I bring 10+ years of infant care and 6+ years of postpartum experience, including twins and overnight support, so you're not navigating the fourth trimester alone. I'm CPR/BLS certified and fully insured. When I gave birth to my son, I didn't feel listened to, and that's exactly why I do this work. In birth, I want every family to feel heard, informed, and calm, even when things don't go as planned. After birth, I want you rested and confident, so you can be fully present with your baby instead of just surviving those early weeks.

We hired Courtney as our full-time nanny right before our twins turned 2. She remained with us until the kids started attending daycare full-time. Everyday day our kids were so excited for Courtney to come over, a factor that my spouse and I felt was very important. Each day she planned different activities and age-appropriate crafts that helped develop their motor skills and cognitive development. When it was time she, also, helped the kids prepare for their next adventure and developmental step (daycare), something which I am eternally grateful. Our children still think of their time with Courtney fondly. We enjoyed and appreciated having Courtney with us for as long as we did.

I made the decision to go with a doula late in my pregnancy. Having previously had multiple abdominal surgeries, including a cesarean, I decided to do everything possible to prevent another one. That’s where Sara came in. Sara provided me with resources and positivity right away. She was very supportive of my wish to have a VBAC, and she never once doubted my ability to do so. Little did I know that I would be diagnosed with severe preeclampsia at 35wks, shortly after meeting Sara in person. It became clear that I needed to deliver right away. I was given the choice to either have a repeat cesarean or be induced for a VBAC. Sara provided me with helpful information so that I was able to make informed choices. I decided to go for the VBAC, and Sara was there to support me every step of the way. Despite requiring many medical interventions, I view my daughter’s birth as a positive experience. I know that a big part of that is because I had Sara’s expertise and steady reassurance. Not only did she help us with labor and delivery, but she also provided postpartum and lactation support in the NICU and at home. I couldn’t have asked for a better doula. Our family is very grateful to have had Sara on our team.

I wear many titles with pride — Wife, Mother, Birth & Postpartum Doula, Lactation Specialist, and Massage therapist , and Author. But at the heart of it all, I’m simply someone who is devoted to women’s health, healing, and empowerment. My passion for nurturing others comes from a long line of generous souls — my mother, my grandparents, whose kindness and selflessness shaped who I am today. My grandfather devoted his life to serving his community, and my grandmother has always been the quiet backbone of our family, giving from the heart without hesitation. Their example taught me that true generosity is showing up for others with love and presence, and that principle runs through every part of my work. I’m a proud graduate of the Holistic Massage Training Institute, where I began my journey into bodywork and holistic healing. Over the years, I’ve specialized in prenatal, fertility, infant, and postpartum massage, helping women release physical tension and rediscover balance in their bodies. I also help many clients find relief from chronic neck and lower back pain, drawing on more than four years of therapeutic experience. In 2020, I founded a private practice specializing in pregnancy and postpartum manual therapy. Over the years of practice, I have helped over 300+ women relieve pain, improve mobility, and prepare for birth. My educational journey has included studies at Anne Arundel Community College and Western Governors University, and midwifery studies through the National College of Midwifery while apprenticing under several licensed midwives. I have attended over 50+ births in a mix of hospitals, home births, and birthing centers. My calling toward birth work was born of my own motherhood journey. My first childbirth experience showed me the power of a supportive birth team, but my second reminded me how deeply a lack of support can impact a woman. That moment became the turning point that led me to dedicate my life to women’s wellness — ensuring that every woman feels seen, supported, and cared for during one of life’s most transformative experiences. In 2022, I was honored to receive the Good Heart Award from The Shades of Blue Project during Black Maternal Health Week, recognizing my commitment to uplifting and caring for families in the birthing community. My work has also been featured in publications such as Motherly, Beauty Boost Baltimore, and Voyage Baltimore. Every client I serve, every birth I attend, and every family I serve is an extension of that same legacy of care that was passed down from my family. I’m here to create spaces where women feel safe, nurtured, and empowered to trust their bodies — because generosity, to me, is the act of helping others remember their own strength.

Medina is AMAZING. We hired her for a postpartum doula, and she was such an amazing emotional support. It was amazing that she is also a massage therapist. I got massages frequently, which helped with my stress so much. She was always very helpful with baby, and had so many resources and advice for me whenever I needed it. I wish we could have had her longer. She is a true blessing!!

My name is Ashley and I am a Professional Birth and Postpartum Doula. I am born and raised in VA and engaged to my high school sweetheart. My hobbies include running outdoors, puzzling, and lounging about with my cat, Sardo 🐈. You’ll often find my nose in a book and a seltzer water in hand. I served as a Domestic Violence Advocate within a nonprofit organization for 5 years—My role encompassed the responsibilities of a Night Resident Manager at an emergency shelter, alongside serving as the Children’s Service Coordinator. My professional duties encompassed the provision of in-person emotional support to families in distress, both on-site and via our 24/7 emergency hotline. My ongoing professional development included participation in continuous training programs, notably in areas such as crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and advocacy. My formative professional experiences include a 5 years of service as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at a home health agency, where I engaged with elderly patients, many of whom faced challenges related to dementia and physical limitations. This period of work significantly contributes to my capacity for caregiving and understanding of complex care needs. Furthermore, I maintain my employment as a cook at a respected vegetarian restaurant, a role I have upheld for twelve years . My proficiency in food preparation and safety protocols plays a pivotal role in ensuring the provision of nourishing meals for individuals seeking postpartum services. If you're in need of a doula, I highly recommend Juliann! While she wasn't technically the doula we hired, she stepped in and stepped up for her sister in ways that no one else could. She demonstrated the perfect amount of restraint and support by being the best distraction to Kat (my partner; her sister) when desperately needed....and other times, the rock I just couldn't be....the rock only a sister can be). She knew just what she needed and when, and we intuitively worked with one another to be there for her every step of the way. Going into labor, Kat was sure she didn't want any family in the room while I always felt that as soon as things got rolling, she was going to need her sister. So without any advance notice and with a fully booked schedule and child of her own, Julie dropped everything to travel hours to the hospital (and back a few times while we rested) and be there with Kat until our little one came earth-side. As a queer couple (I'm trans and my partner is non-binary), I can say that there aren't many doula's out there that even recognize that there can be birthing persons with different genders - that include those bodies in these predomenantly/societally female spaces. With Julie, you can be sure that as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, your body, wishes, partner dynamics, pronouns etc will be honored, respected, and uplifted. During our birth, I got to witness Julie as she realized this was her calling. I was moved, touched, and so honored to be able to experience this moment of hers, and I genuinely can say there isn't anyone I'd trust more with your care. While Julie is just starting out in this field, she has a drive to excel and learn, and I'm witnessing firsthand her dedication to becoming an expert in this field.

Rachael Dailey

Hi, I’m Rachael! I am a mom of three not-so-little kids (ages 21, 16, and 13), and a military spouse of 17 years, so I know a little about having to build your own village. I am a certified labor doula, postpartum and bereavement doula, to be a part of that village in your life. After walking alongside three families as a gestational carrier, I found my calling in nurturing others through the many paths of parenthood. I have always been passionate about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and all things baby, so I knew I wanted to find my place in the birth world. I am certified through Birth & Baby University and currently training with StillBirthday to offer a well-rounded education along with my personal experiences with pregnancy, birth, and parenting. I offer gentle, hands-on support during birth, the postpartum period, and in times of pregnancy or infant loss. Whether you're preparing for a joyful delivery, adjusting to life with a newborn, or grieving a loss, I want to be the one to walk beside you, hold space for your experience, and offer the support you deserve. When I’m not supporting families, you’ll usually find me at home hanging out with my husband, our kids, and three dogs. In my spare time, I love being in the garden, on my yoga mat, or curled up with my knitting and a good movie.

I cannot recommend Rachel highly enough. From the very first meeting, she made me feel heard, supported, and completely confident in my birth choices. Her knowledge, calm presence, and unwavering encouragement were invaluable throughout pregnancy, labor, and delivery. During labor, she was an absolute anchor—offering comfort measures, gentle guidance, and reassurance exactly when I needed it most. She knew when to step in with suggestions and when to simply be a steady, calming presence. Because of her, I felt empowered, informed, and never alone during one of the most intense and meaningful experiences of my life. If you are looking for a doula who is compassionate, professional, and truly invested in your well-being and birth experience, I wholeheartedly recommend her. Having her by my side was one of the best decisions I made for my birth.
