Thank you so much for stopping by! My journey to birth work began in 2017, following the birth of my first baby. I have been a fully certified childbirth educator and doula since 2018. Additionally, I recently obtained my Certified Breastfeeding Specialist certificate (CBS) from Lactation Education Resources in October 2025. Prior to getting into birth work, I attended Notre Dame of Maryland University, where I studied biology and graduated with high honors. I have since become a mother of 2. Both of my children were born without intervention and at home. When not working, I can be found reading for pleasure, exercising, doing yoga, hiking, or gardening. I reside in Bowie, MD and serve clients within a 50-mile radius of my home.

My husband and I took Kristen’s class to support my dreams of an unmedicated birth. We learned so much about birthing naturally, avoiding interventions, and working through labor together. In the end I got my dream birth! We delivered in the hospital and confidently denied (and worked with) the medical staff to support our preferences through quoted studies, avoided all interventions (despite having my water break 2 weeks early before labor began), and gave birth completely naturally with no NICU time. They even released us after 24 hours! It was perfect and Kristen’s class played a huge part in it along with her recommended reading list. 10/10 recommend taking this class if you are planning an all natural birth! SO worth it!

After a rewarding career as a teacher I decided to follow my passion and I've never looked back. Doula work has always felt like home to me and supporting moms and families is my joy. I believe that education is the best starting point in a well informed birth experience. I also pride myself in creating a peaceful birth environment that smells amazing. All of my clients receive a Luxury in Birth Kit that contain hand made products to enhance your environment. My knowledge and experience combined with your birth plan will make a great team. I wear many hats in the birth world and value being hands on with my clients in order to provide 5 star service. See you soon in the birth room.

Erin is an INCREDIBLE gem of a doula. From the moment my husband and I met her, we knew instantly that she was the one. And we were right! First of all, her passion and positive energy are contagious. We accomplished SO MUCH during our first visit. She patiently guided me through various poses to ease discomfort and prepare me for labor, all while getting to know me. By the end of the visit, she had me completely figured out. In my stubborn moments, Erin always had the magic words to get me unstuck. Our dynamic was as though we were old friends. My birth experience was a 3-day induction with lots of highs and lows. Erin was there for ALL of it and kept the same energy throughout. When I felt lazy and wouldn't get out of the bed, she was the birth whisperer. I laugh when I remember how she "tricked" me into dancing and walking to bring on labor and how much I ended up enjoying it. Erin also wisely guided us through the medical team's recommendations and helped us make informed choices. On day 3, she told me we could get the baby out in a few hours if I did what she said, and IT HAPPENED! I had some unforeseen complications after, and she stayed with my husband and baby until I was out of the OR and stabilized. She even met us at home some weeks after to check on me, debrief, and celebrate. Erin is kind, patient, and genuinely passionate about birth. She has a PERMANENT place in my heart and invitation to the cookout. https://doulamatch.net/testimonial/detail/81721

I don't think there are enough words to describe how truly wonderful Medina is. As a single mother by choice (SMBC), finding the right doula to be my birth partner was deeply important to me because I needed someone I could rely on completely. After meeting with several candidates who were just fine, I connected with Medina. From our very first phone call, she provided a level of comfort and reassurance I didn't even know was possible. Working with her was the best decision I made for my birth. Through our prenatal meetings and regular check-ins, I went into labor feeling fully prepared. When my labor took an unexpected turn and resulted in an unplanned cesarean, having Medina nearby was an absolute comfort. Knowing a familiar, trusted face was waiting close by to be with my brand-new daughter right after she was born brought me immense relief. I love Medina dearly, recommend her to every expecting mother I meet, and am so grateful to now call her a friend.

Working with Gina was invaluable - I could not imagine having given birth without her. Confident, professional, and warm, from the get-go I clicked with Gina and she understood exactly what we needed going into the birthing process. Each session felt necessary and informative, and we knew we could reach out at any time to assuage our nerves. On the big day itself, Gina was a source of calm, ideas and authority in a space where it was very much needed. I felt heard, advocated for and supported throughout, and my husband had someone to depend on to feel informed and grounded. I cannot recommend working with Gina enough. If we are lucky enough to expand our family more, we will definitely work with Gina again!!

— Lauren P., review of Gina Valo August 2026

I loved having Phelicia as my doula. She helped me create my birth plan, prep for breastfeeding, pumping, and bottles, and feel at peace about delivery and nursing. Even though I ended up having a cesarean due to breech presentation, she came to the hospital and was ready to help in any and every way in post-op (with care for me, baby's first latch, advice, etc.). She was wonderful at following-up with us regularly, checking in, giving advice, etc., while also giving us space to enjoy being first-time parents. She was a fantastic lactation consultant and helped us navigate our little one's tongue tie with so much wisdom. I highly recommend her for birth and lactation support. If we have another child in the DC area, I will not hesitate to hire her again.
