I have always been fascinated and humbled by the birthing process since working at a Maternity Hospital in Nepal many years ago, when I was a medical student in the UK. It revealed to me how essential compassionate support is during this rite of passage. My passion for women's health and childbirth has never waned, and I come with a deep knowledge of the process from working as a family doctor in the UK, then birthing and bringing up my own three children here in the US. I am privileged to work as a birth doula, an advocate in this space, supporting with empathy and calm, helping women to trust their bodies and to achieve a positive birth experience. I help women to know their own body and its amazing capabilities, to trust it, and, in doing so, to own their birth.

Harriet is a wonderful doula and an amazing person. She saved me in so many ways and gave me the exact birth plan I imagined. I only found her a month before my due date and she was able to step in and give me proper guidance. She talked me through all the options on the birth plan. She sent me materials and ideas to deal with pain and anxiety. She has a medical background as well as extensive experience In the field and is constantly keeping up with new technologies. My support person was out of town when I went into labor and Harriet was with me the whole time. She asked questions of the doctors and made sure I got the best care. She voiced my concerns when I couldn't. During active labor she was so soothing and knew tricks to ease the pain - thanks to her I gave birth without an epidural. She followed up with me after and baked delicious cookies! I honestly can't thank her enough. She is a pillar of strength and knowledge and source of calm in the storm.

My philosophy is rooted in the belief that every woman who goes into labor should feel equipped, with knowledge, love, support, connection, and deep trust in herself. I meet each person where they are, honoring their unique beliefs and vision for birth. I don't care how you choose to birth; I only care that you get to keep your power and feel fully supported in your own beliefs about birth. My role is never to direct your path, but to walk beside you with steady support and trustworthy information so you feel confident and connected every step of the way. Overall, my goal is to help you feel equipped, empowered, and supported, holding onto your power as you bring your baby into the world.

As an immigrant from Turkey with no family nearby, my first pregnancy felt overwhelming at times. I often felt alone, and having Jade by my side made all the difference—she truly became the support system I needed. My biggest dream was to have an unmedicated vaginal birth. Throughout my pregnancy, Jade prepared us both physically and mentally. She explained every stage of labor with so much detail and confidence that by the time labor began, we felt completely ready. I arrived at the hospital at 8:00 a.m., and by 9:33 a.m., I was holding my beautiful daughter in my arms. I gave birth naturally without an epidural or any pain medication. Even though my pregnancy was considered high-risk, I was able to have the birth I had hoped for, and I truly believe Jade’s knowledge, guidance, and unwavering support played a huge role in making that possible. What makes Jade so special goes far beyond her expertise. She was always available to answer my questions, calm my fears, and remind me to trust my body. She gave me confidence when I needed it most. If you’re looking for a doula who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely cares about you and your birth experience, I cannot recommend Jade enough. She helped make one of the most important days of my life more beautiful than I ever imagined, and I will always be grateful for everything she did for my family.

Working with Curtrelle made my birthing experience so much better than I could’ve imagined. As a first time mom, I was overwhelmed with the amount of information I was receiving from doctors, relatives and my social media. Curtrelle was instrumental in keeping both my partner and I calm, informed, and hopeful throughout the entire birthing process. Her techniques, presence and overall explanation of the process beforehand during and after were incredibly helpful for two new parents who felt lost in a sea of information. We truly feel she was the reason we had such a great birthing experience and we loved her demeanor not just with us, but with the people we decided to include in the process as well. I highly recommend anyone looking for a doula that is informed, calming, reassuring, and overall great person to work with Curtrelle.

It’s hard to put into words how grateful I am for Glo. As a first-time mom living far from much of my family, I was nervous about navigating the postpartum period, but after our very first night with Glo, I knew we had found someone incredibly special. Glo is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, reliable, gentle, and kind. She brought a sense of calm and confidence into our home during a time when everything felt new. She was always there to answer questions, talk through different approaches, and help us navigate each new stage with our daughter without ever making us feel like there was one “right” way to do things. She also went far beyond simply caring for our baby. Glo helped us set up systems that made our entire bottle prep, feeding, and sanitizing routine so much more efficient and organized. Whenever we needed additional support, she had an incredible network of trusted resources to direct us to, including a lactation consultant who ended up being invaluable to me. One of the things I appreciated most was how intentional she was about understanding our goals. Each week, she listened to what we wanted to work on—both in the immediate moment and more broadly with our daughter—and helped us turn those goals into clear, actionable plans. So many of the routines and systems she helped us establish have worked incredibly well for our family and given us confidence as new parents. More than anything, Glo gave me one of the greatest gifts I could have received as a new mother: confidence in my ability to be a mom. She never imposed her way of doing things; instead, she gave me the knowledge, support, and encouragement to trust my own instincts. She was endlessly supportive and brought such a gentle, reassuring presence into our home. When I look back on the time I became a mother, Glo will forever be a part of that memory. Her warmth, knowledge, patience, and support were more meaningful than I ever could have anticipated. Any family would be incredibly lucky to have her by their side, and I truly cannot recommend her enough.

My experience with Jade as my doula has been amazing, and I’m so grateful to have had her be a part of my journey into motherhood. Before giving birth, Jade took the time to educate me on what to expect during labor and delivery and taught me about newborn care. As a first time mom, this was really helpful and made me feel more prepared for what was ahead. When it was time to give birth, Jade was truly amazing. She didn’t hesitate to take initiative in the labor room, and whatever I needed, she was right there. Whether it was a cold cloth, my lip gloss, a fan, or water, she was always attentive and making sure I was as comfortable as possible. She was right alongside my partner, helping hold my legs while coaching and encouraging me throughout the entire process. Having someone so attentive and helpful during such an intense and vulnerable moment in my life meant so much to me. She also recorded and captured my birth experience, which is something I will always be grateful for. Being able to look back on those memories and see the moment I brought my son into the world is truly priceless. Her support didn’t stop after I had my son. Her postpartum visits have been great, and I really appreciate the care and support she continues to give me as I adjust to being a new mom. She has also provided thoughtful gifts for both my postpartum recovery and my baby, which I truly appreciate. Those gestures mean a lot and show how thoughtful and caring she is toward both moms and their little ones. I would definitely recommend Jade to other moms, especially first time moms. She has been there for me before, during, and after birth, and I’m truly thankful to have had her by my side during such a special time in my life. She made me feel cared for and supported, and I couldn’t have asked for a better person to be part of my birth experience. ??

Aysha SHOWED UP for me! I’m honestly not sure how my birth would have gone without her support! We laughed. We walked. We squatted. We twerked. I cried. She held me. Reminded me that i was capable. Postpartum was rough this go round and she was there, prepping meals, cleaning, teaching my toddler essential life skills, making sure she saw me drinking my water and taking my vitamins. She feels like a best friend I’ve known for many years. I’m so grateful and i can’t say it enough💗

I was inspired to become a midwife in the first delivery room I ever entered. My own! The experience lit a fire in me that I knew would have to burn long and low as my attention was focused on my new baby. While still nursing him I undertook training to become a doula. I knew I wanted to be a midwife, but with a young son of my own, I was not ready at that time for the huge educational commitment. I was a practicing doula for 4 years before I was ready to take the next step. I wanted the chance to make more of a difference. I knew that the hospital nurses could influence a birth powerfully, as they had with mine. Becoming a labor and delivery nurse was my chance to make other women’s birth experiences more positive. Before going to nursing school I had a second son- this time in the care of loving midwives Connie and Tai at the Hollywood Birth Center on Sunset Boulevard. After an immersive two year program, I became a registered nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in their labor and delivery department, where I had the opportunity to learn among the best. I loved my job so much that after my next birth- twin boys, I chose to remain at Cedars-Sinai for another 10 years. During the time I was a nurse I was honored to meet and work with the legendary CNM Debbie Frank who had the first hybrid home/ hospital private midwifery practice in Los Angeles- mine was the second. She was the inspiration for my future practice model. In 2015, with the unwavering support of my loving husband and father of my five amazing boys, I decided it was time to take the next step to becoming a certified nurse-midwife. I began to assist midwives at home births and then embarked on the final leg of my journey to midwifery, the 3-year bridge to Masters degree program at Frontier Nursing University. As much as I enjoy supporting families to birth at home, I saw there was a need in our community for a private hospital based midwifery practice that upheld the hallmarks of midwifery. I decided to be the change I wanted to see and applied for hospital privileges. I am thrilled to be a midwife and so honored to be able to continue to serve women in the setting of their choice, whether it be their home, or one of the best hospitals in Los Angeles. I have worked as a midwife in my own private practice, Gracefull Birthing Center, and as a co-founder and midwife at Los Angeles Midwives. My education at Frontier Nursing University instilled a strong respect for and belief in evidence-based practice (EBP); I am also committed to honoring a woman’s intuition, including my own while treating each person (and family) as an individual as well as the traditional art of midwifery that is learned through working together and story-telling among midwives.. As much as I love to read, cook and bake for my family and friends, hike, and play with our giant golden doodle Royce, I mostly spend my personal time with my newest son Olivier born in the water at home in 2021 and my teenagers. Also, I love having playdates with other midwives and families with whom I have become close after attending their births.

Hi, I’m Charlotte! I’m a birth doula and maternal health advocate based in Los Angeles. Charlotte was kind, thoughtful, responsive, hands-on when I needed her, and extremely patient and flexible—beyond expectations. Before I gave birth, in the months leading up to my labor, Charlotte came to my home a few times to get to know me, my home, and my birth preferences. Since it was my first pregnancy, she had many thoughts and suggestions for how to prepare and I found her all around competent and thoughtful. Fast forward to my birth experience. I was in labor for three days, and during all three days, she was there for me exactly how I needed her. For the first day, I labored at home and she was available by phone and text until I decided I wanted her in-person support. Once I asked for her to be by my side, she stayed with me for close to 36 hours starting at home and continuing through the time I was at a birth center. After the second day passed, I made a non-emergent transfer to the hospital due to fatigue and dehydration. During this time, we communicated well and I allowed her to go home and take a nap while I got an epidural and took a nap as well. Crazily enough, she was on call for another birth and even wound up attending another birth while I was in the hospital waiting to dilate enough to push. As this happened we stayed in communication and I felt supported enough by her and my midwives over the phone that I didn’t need a backup doula. On the third day, the stars aligned and she wrapped up at her other birth not long before I was ready to push. She rushed to my hospital, and was not only by my side, but encouraged me exactly how I needed and held one leg while a nurse held my other one as I bore down and pushed my little girl out. TLDR; Charlotte is communicative, capable, sympathetic, and experienced. She was an excellent choice as a birth support person and if you are considering her to be your doula, let this be my letter of recommendation.

My mother was a Lamaze instructor who taught childbirth classes in our home, surrounding me with the language, rhythm, and wonder of pregnancy and birth from an early age. As the eldest of four siblings and 16 grandchildren, I grew up surrounded by babies, witnessing the magic of new life, and developing a deep-rooted sense of awe and normalcy around the birthing process. The births of my own children lit a spark in me, and that spark grew into a calling. I became a doula and gained extensive experience supporting families birthing in homes, birth centers, and hospitals across Los Angeles. Over time, my passion for this sacred work deepened, and I felt the undeniable pull to expand my knowledge and commitment to birthing families by becoming a midwife. Through years of study, apprenticeship, and dedication, I graduated from the National Midwifery Institute. I am a Licensed Midwife (LM) with the Medical Board of California and Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) with the North American Registry of Midwives. I carry certifications in neonatal resuscitation, CPR, and Basic Life Support (BLS) and have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of families on their birthing journey's. Becoming a midwife has been one of the greatest honors of my life— and I carry every story, every family, and every birth with gratitude and reverence.

I am a first time single mom and was worried about taking care of my daughter Emma, alone and recovering from birth at the same time. Violet helped me with both night and day shifts. Violets day shifts depended on my needs for the day. Some days she was just happy to make me lunch and do laundry for me and Emma. Some days I needed some time alone and she was there to do tummy time with Emma, put her down for naps, and sing to her. When she was on nights she was there to burp, change, and settle the baby down again after I breast fed her so I was able to sleep a little more. She always had cleaned any bottles she would use by the morning and would make us both coffee before I got up. She even gave me a slight discount knowing I didn't have a two income household witch helped me a lot in the long run.

Welcome! My name is Rose, and I'm a certified birth doula. I will accompany you in your pregnancy, labor and postpartum journey. I provide assistance during pregnancy and labor by giving parents the necessary information they need to make informed decisions about their care. I provide newborn assistance, information on childbirth education, breastfeeding, lactation and postpartum support. As a community doula I believe in healing the body. The reason many women do not heal during postpartum is because there are still many toxins trapped in their bodies that prevent them from healing. I work with mothers at whatever stage of emotional and physical support they need and provide them with the resources they need to feel empowered throughout this journey. I believe in holistic healing, ayurveda, essential oils, aromatherapy & yoga. I have lived in Taiwan and South Korea and have learned about traditional healing methods. My experience includes working with women from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds. This includes women who have experienced pregnancy loss, abortions, trauma and high-risk IVF procedures. I also speak Spanish and work with the Spanish speaking community. I hold a Master's Degree in Education and a Certified Birth Doula certification. I really enjoy teaching couples and enhancing their knowledge about pregnancy & labor. Unlike other doulas, I bring a strong background in healthcare working in acute hospitals in the nursing department. Although I am not a nurse, my background includes ER, ICU, medicine & surgery, mental health, rehabilitation, post rehab and sub-acute units. I am also trained as a medication technician which allows me to understand the different types of medications that are given to patients in hospitals. I've worked in a variety of hospital settings and have the necessary experience to deliver bedside nursing skills. I accept several forms of insurance across California. Contact me today!
