Taylor Clarke-Cameron

2 years of experience

Hi, I'm Taylor Clarke-Cameron, a birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator based in New Jersey. Since launching my doula practice in December 2024, I've had the privilege of supporting 15 families and attending 13 births, and every single one has deepened my commitment to this work. Before stepping into birth work, I spent over a decade as a school administrator — advocating for individuals, navigating complex systems, and building trust with families during some of the most pivotal moments of their lives. That foundation shapes everything I do as a doula: I show up informed, steady, and fully in your corner. My mission is simple: every birthing person deserves to feel informed, empowered, and supported — no exceptions. I am proudly affirming of all families, including single parents, multicultural and multi-religious families, LGBTQIA+ families, parents with disabilities, parents who are neurodivergent, and those growing their families through adoption. My Approach Universal Support, Personal Touch Birth is universal—it's happened across cultures, centuries, and countless galaxies of human experience. Yet YOUR birth is uniquely yours, a wonder that deserves celebration and support tailored specifically to your needs. Whether you're a single parent writing your own heroic story, part of a multicultural or multi-religious family blending beautiful traditions, navigating parenthood in the LGBTQIA+ community, a differently-abled parent, a neurodivergent parent, or creating your family through adoption—I am here for YOU. Your journey matters, your choices are valid, and your experience deserves nothing less than stellar support.

Taylor was my birth doula, and I truly feel it was divine intervention that she came into my life—especially since my son was born on her birthday. From the very beginning, she was incredibly attentive, informative, and intentional in supporting both me and my husband. She created a detailed binder for us with guides on what to expect, postpartum care, exercises, and nutritious foods that were safe for both me and my baby. The information was so thorough that I never felt the need to search elsewhere. One moment that deeply stood out to me was when I shared that I wanted to play Surahs during my labor and delivery. At our next visit, Taylor had printed out different Surahs along with explanations of their purposes, making it easier for me to choose what I wanted to hear. That level of thoughtfulness meant so much to me. I also appreciated her honesty and professionalism. If she didn’t know something, she would say so—then either refer me to my midwives or research and follow up with me. During labor and delivery, she was calm, knowledgeable, and attentive. She impressed the medical staff, made me feel safe and advocated for, and ensured my husband felt supported and confident asking questions. Taylor made a huge impact on my first delivery, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better doula. Even now, she continues to send monthly emails with updates on my son’s development and what to expect as I heal. Taylor is amazing, and it’s clear she genuinely cares about what she does.

Her passion for childbirth began in her birthing her four children within five years and learning the amazing power of the mind, soul, and body in physiologic birth and thereafter. Becoming a DONA trained Doula has given her the professional skills and resources to help other birthing people and their partner(s) awaken and tune into this power. As your Doula, she is honored to hold space for you and meet you where you are along your reproductive journey. She will provide emotional, informational, and physical support and hold your hand as you learn to advocate for your preferences in what is the most personal and sacred time in your life. By encouraging you to feel confident, fully supported, in control of your choices, and well equipped with the tools and comfort measures, her goal is to help you optimize any path your birth takes. She especially wants to do all she can to educate the community about the power of birth support, increase access to these evidence based services, and work with BBIPOC and trans and queer birthing people who often experience trauma and inequitable care along their gestational journey. As a Latinx Doula, she is a strong proponent of reclaiming and honoring the cultural roots of birthing communities and their traditional practices. Elizabeth is bilingual in Spanish.

I would recommend Elizabeth to anyone looking for a doula. She is compassionate, kind, knowledgeable and provides a much needed feeling of calm and stability to the delivery room. I believe she is the main reason I was able to have a successful VBAC and remain confident and strong throughout. Elizabeth was extremely responsive via text/phone and arrived at the hospital super quickly in the middle of the night when my water broke. When she arrived I was in so much pain from contractions and she jumped right in to help me, introducing easing movements, rubbing my back, and getting me a heating pad. She was an incredible support during the 12 hours of labor— she didn’t leave my side. Having her there to answer questions, provide reassurance, help with birthing positions, and advocate for me with hospital staff was a game changer. Thanks, Elizabeth, you are amazing!

My best friend asked me to be "her doula" 17 years ago. I flew to LA and planned to be there for 10 days in hopes the baby would come in that window of time. I sang and whispered into her belly and Introduced myself to her baby. We had quite a time during the labor as her midwives guided her through the experience. She was incredible! She chose a home birth which ended at the hospital. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Witnessing the birth was transcendent and inspiring! When I flew back to NYC, I vowed that when our youngest daughter was in college, I would become a Doula. I grew up in Minnesota. I graduated with a BFA from the acting program at the University of North Carolina School of the Performing Arts. I have a background in dance, singing, yoga and martial arts. I was an American Council of Exercise certified personal trainer for 12 years. When I became pregnant, becoming a certified prenatal trainer was ideal. I especially loved working with all my pregnant clients. Having an online health and wellness business with Arbonne International has been another passion of mine. Over the years, I have coached a team on how to build their own online businesses and shared this opportunity in a public speaking setting for large groups. I teach my clients the benefits of aligning with a vegan brand they can trust and the value of choosing a B corporation, and living a more green lifestyle. I am a certified Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula with the International Doula Institute. I am also certified as a Perinatal Nutrition Educator, Birth Educator and Lactation Counselor. I hold a certification in Diversity Equity and Inclusion. I am also first aid, AED/CPR certified for pediatric and adults through the Red cross. Being present, and relying on my emotional intelligence, knowledge and discernment, helps me to navigate how to best listen and anticipate a person's needs. I embody joyful humor as my way to serve others. I bring warm energy, passion and authenticity to the people I spend time with. I'm a lifelong student who loves to learn, grow and collaborate. I believe these qualities, as a birth team member, contribute to the overall outcome and experience of all involved. I live in Harlem with my husband. We have two daughters. Hobbies: singing in choir, biking, and lifting weights. I also enjoy baking, reading and traveling. I love conversations over dinner with my husband and friends, and going to the theater and jazz clubs. Walking in nature each day is key to living in my joy, and of course, fitting as many plants and flowers into our home as humanly possible!

Before Birth This was my first pregnancy, and having Julia come over twice before the birth was incredibly helpful. She reduced my anxiety and managed my expectations for both the birth and labor experience. Julia gave me strategies that made me feel comfortable and even excited for labor with my partner. She also prepared me in a way that made the entire process feel less scary. No matter how many books you read or how many articles you find online, nothing compares to having a personal discussion with someone who has been in that room hundreds of times. Her guidance was invaluable and cannot be measured in money. It was also extremely efficient: I thought I might need a labor class, but Julia provided all of that and more tailored specifically to me and my partner. At the Birth At the birth, Julia was fantastic. She transformed the hospital room by bringing beautiful lighting instead of harsh overhead lights and calming scents that helped create the peaceful environment I envisioned. She guided me through labor by suggesting positions, helping me understand each step of the process, and supporting me emotionally and physically. She struck the perfect balance — always there for us, yet working seamlessly with the hospital staff. Because of her presence and guidance, my partner and I felt supported, cared for and truly heard throughout the entire birthing experience. Julia also took G-rated photos to capture these special moments. I originally didn’t want photos, but now I can’t imagine not having them. They are priceless memories. If you are on the fence… get the photos!!! It’s one of the best decisions we made. Post Birth Post birth, Julia has continued to be an incredible resource. She supported me through my breastfeeding journey, helped me navigate the transition into motherhood, and taught me countless tips and tricks to care for my baby. These have been unbelievably valuable, even the small things, like baby massage techniques, new ways to do tummy time, how to calm my baby, and even how to put clothes on a newborn. Simple changes that suddenly make everything easier! But more importantly, she has been a trusted person I can reach out to, someone who has worked so many babies and mothers. Having that level of expertise just a phone call away has brought me so much comfort and confidence. I am truly grateful for everything she has done to support our family.

Mia became a part of our family shortly after the birth of our second child. Having hired an overnight doula for our first, we knew this time around, with two little ones under two, we’d need even more support. From the moment Mia arrived, she was extraordinary. She intuitively understood the rhythm of our home and our unique challenges. I trusted her completely with my newborn, which allowed me to give my toddler the attention she needed. Mia provided unwavering emotional support and was remarkably proactive, anticipating our needs before we could voice them. She brought calm and clarity during a time when I often felt overwhelmed, almost like the part of my brain that wasn’t functioning in the haze of postpartum. Whether it was preparing nourishing snacks, offering thoughtful breastfeeding support, or simply being a grounding presence, Mia was indispensable. Her presence during those intense early weeks was nothing short of a gift. I could not recommend Mia more highly. - Aisling S.
