Hello, My name is Ty-Renai Davis. I am a doula,lactation counselor, mother of one, and foster parent. I have primarily been in the mental health field for the past 10 years as a Licensed Social Worker in various settings. In 2017, I became pregnant and began doing research. I found so much information, support, and power in doulas, midwives, and other birth workers. In 2020 I became a surrogate and it was an amazing experience. After two pregnancies, labors, and postpartum periods I had gained tons of information and met different people that led to me seeing the importance of birth workers and what having the right support can do for someone. I strongly believe that the medical system alone is not designed to result in the best outcome emotionally and physically during the various stages. Having the additional support and information when engaging in the medical system during such an important time is key to having positive outcomes and experiences.
