I cannot say enough about my doula, Molly. She supported me before and after we learned of our son Waylon’s passing with incredible compassion, patience, and strength. From the very beginning, she was there every single moment I needed her, making sure I never felt alone. Molly helped create the birth space I envisioned, holding it with such care and intention. She made sure everything flowed smoothly and aligned beautifully with my wishes, even in the most heartbreaking of circumstances. Her presence brought comfort, safety, and love in a time that could have felt unbearably heavy. I will always be grateful to Molly for walking alongside me in such a sacred and difficult moment of my life. She is truly a gift to any family she supports.

Julie Sanders

Hello. I'm Julie Sanders (she/her), a birth and postpartum doula who has supported families on their journey into parenthood for nearly a decade through Awakening Mother Holistic Birth and Wellness. I am also a yoga and meditation teacher and sound healing practitioner passionate about the journey into and through motherhood. I specialize in birth preparation, focusing on inner work, communication, education, bodywork, and balancing for an efficient birth and optimal fetal positioning, including dynamic movement, to support a natural labor and birth process. My postpartum care focuses on rejuvenating the mind, body, and spirit using healing foods and herbs, vibrational medicine, breath work, mindfulness, and daily self-care practices; honoring rest, and family bonding. I personalize my offerings for a deeply "centered" approach to preparing for the journey ahead, inviting exploration into one's deep ancestral wisdom and intuitive insight into and through this transformative time. When not actively supporting aspiring, pregnant, and new parents or deepening my practice, you can find me with my hands in the earth, gardening in my backyard, or spending time with her family and our mischievous beagle named Moon. I would love to connect and learn more about your path and explore ways I may fully support you during this very special time in your life.

Service: Labor and Birth Doula Context: Father, 2nd Child, 1st at-home birth Despite our preparations, our first birth taught us that we can always know, prepare, and expect more. We met Julie in our doula interviews early in our preparations, and with our first home-birth, we knew we needed someone with the knowledge to build our trust, the confidence to direct when needed, and the serenity to alleviate our anxieties. Julie brought every one of those to the table, and more! During our first birth, I couldn't help but feel like a third-wheel, understanding key parts of the birth, but serving mostly as an observer, with the occasional comforting words. In preparation for our 2nd, Julie offered both live Q&As, and preparatory, informative, and engaging classes, which helped prepare not only my wife, but myself in both what to expect and how to engage with each part of the birth. Rather than only observing, or waiting for direction, I became an active participant, predicting and understanding my wife's needs, while also being able to adapt as needed. As labor's frequently do, ours started late in the night, and with a quick call, Julie assessed the situation and determined to come over to help, even in the early stages. As a doula, she helped guide us into active labor, recognizing when we hit hurdles, and confidently and calmly discussed alternative positions and practices. Serving not only as doula, she frequently provided updates that would help our midwife determine how far along we were, and stayed by Laura's side through delivery! In the interest of time, I'll end with an appreciation of Julie's ability to frequently bridge the gap when all the participants became a little too single-minded; Julie would swoop in, suggesting breaks, and even cooking up some delicious meals! Even afterwards, Julie visited and brought a smorgasbord of home-cooked foods, taking the weight off of running a household, and letting my wife, my children, and myself, take time to simply be with each other. Thank you so much, Julie, for not only being what my wife needed, but helping me to be the same! P.S. For the Mother's perspective, Laura's review should post soon!

Bethany Dickson

Bethany Dickson

6 years of experience

As a doula my goal is to help you realize your vision for a successful birth, to hold up the light so that you can better walk the path you choose on this journey. My wide ranging experience in birth settings has taught me that every birth is unique and that when parents feel informed and supported by their care team they are able to experience birth as a joyful and peaceful experience whether all goes to plan or not. I have been DONA certified for 3 years and in that time have attended over 100 births in all birth settings and worked though a wide range of birth scenarios. I am a very hands-on doula as I love to study and understand the physiology of labor. I study Spinning babies, massage and rebozo techniques as well as breathing and hypnobirthing and bring these skills as tools to use in the process of labor. Growing up I lived in a small progressive hippy community where birth was very much seen as a part of life. The local midwife lived next door and her stories and approach to what she did raised me to see birth as a symptom of health and that birthing people should always have constant loving support during labor. I have wanted to work in birth for as long as I can remember and I believe wholeheartedly in the doula model of care. Now that my own 2 children are older I have jumped into the birth world with both feet and am passionately committed to my calling.

Bethany Dickson is the reason I had the exact birth I wanted. We worked with Bethany for the birth of our first baby, and I would absolutely work with her again. My goal was to have an unmedicated birth, but what mattered most to me was that my birth plan was respected fully — including that if I asked for an epidural or any medical intervention, Bethany would support that without question. She was 100% aligned with this approach from the very beginning and never once tried to push me toward a different path. That trust and respect meant everything. Bethany supported us well before labor even began. We met multiple times to connect and set expectations, she provided examples and a template to help me write my birth plan, and she shared resources and videos showing different positions for laboring. When I was laboring at home, she was available by phone and offered specific guidance and positions to try. Once I arrived at labor and delivery, things got intense quickly. The nurses were offering an epidural, and I started to doubt whether I could really have an unmedicated birth. One nurse even said, “No one gets a prize for having an unmedicated birth,” which honestly made me feel like they didn’t believe I could do it, and in that moment, I wasn’t sure I believed it either. Even though I was wavering, I wanted to wait until Bethany arrived to see if working with a doula could change things. Bethany’s presence changed everything. I got into the tub to labor, and Bethany arrived shortly after. From the moment she walked in, the entire energy of the room shifted. She immediately took charge in the best possible way — dimmed the lights, turned on the LED candles, gave my husband a clear role (i.e., she coached my husband to be involved rather than replacing him), and focused fully on me. Her confidence was unwavering. She knew I could do this, and that belief gave me the strength to do it. She handed me labor combs, guided my breathing (breathing with me the entire time), and helped me stay grounded in my body. My only job was to follow her lead — and I did, all the way through full dilation and pushing. I stayed unmedicated, not because I felt pressured, but because I felt supported, safe, and capable. My pushing phase was short and Bethany was right by my side the entire time, alongside my husband and medical team. The room felt calm and coordinated: Bethany worked seamlessly with my nurses and doctor, never overstepping and never being sidelined. It felt like a true team effort, and I felt fully supported by everyone in the room. After our baby was born, Bethany gently showed me how to breastfeed as my newborn crawled to my breast. She took photos without ever being asked; photos we cherish deeply today. She made sure everything was settled, said a quick goodbye and then quietly slipped out so we could have privacy during our golden hour. She arrived at exactly the right moment, did exactly what we needed without us having to ask, and then stepped away without making anything about herself. Bethany is confident, grounded, deeply caring, and genuinely joyful for the families she supports. She has an incredible ability to be fully in command while also being deeply attuned to her clients’ needs and wishes, and to recognizing when something may need to shift to support their labor goals. Beyond the birth itself, Bethany also set us up for success postpartum. Before I even had the baby, she provided an extensive list of resources (e.g., postpartum recipes; mental health referrals; lactation and breastfeeding support; pelvic floor specialists; and more). By the time I needed those resources, I didn’t have to scramble or research anything; I already had my library of tools ready to support me. Bethany is an incredible fit for anyone looking for strong, confident support from someone who honors your autonomy and works seamlessly with a medical team. I truly had the exact birth I wanted because of Bethany’s support. If you are considering working with her, know that you will be cared for with intention, confidence, respect, and love — before, during, and after birth.

Kendall was an absolute god-send during our pregnancy and birth journey. As first time parents, we felt SO lost starting our pregnancy journey. The lack of dedicated support in the system was so apparent right away, and we began our search to find the compassion , emotional support and care we needed , esp for me as a first time mom! Our first discussion with Kendall made us feel so comfortable and like there was such a personal connection , Kendall was so knowledgeable and so committed to ensuring that I would have the support I needed thru every step of my pregnancy and post-partum. She was someone that I immediately knew I could trust and be comfortable around and want her there with me every step of the way, including during my delivery. Kendall provided support and assistance throughout my pregnancy beyond what I could have ever imagined. As someone who had an extremely difficult pregnancy with several hospitalizations, Kendall was there for our family every step of the way, helping us find new care when things with our existing provider weren’t going well, being by our side with several hospital stays and going out on a limb to be a vocal advocate for what was always best for me and our baby. Kendall went above and beyond after so many unexpected turns in our birth story, spent dedicated time visiting our baby in the NiCU at a moments notice when we delivered prematurely in an emergency situation, and was constantly there as a sounding board, resource , and 24-7 support system for our entire family. We have never felt so comfortable being open and honest with someone as we were with Kendall!! She is so passionate about her work, her families and the moms in her care, and it shows!! Whether we had a perfect pregnancy or one filled with the challenges and scares our family faced, We can’t imagine doing it or going through the journey without Kendall. You never know what resources you may need until you need them, and Kendall was there with us every step of the way. She will forever be a part of our family and our story, and we will be forever grateful for her. -The Schafferer’s: Lindsey , Marco and Marcel (our 35 week angel babe!)

Carri Taylor

20 years of experience

I am a CAPPA certified postpartum doula and Carrot eligible provider with over 20 years of experience caring for infants. I hold a degree in Social Work and am also a practicing Life and Health Coach. I am a mother of four, with my oldest and youngest children twenty years apart. I spent over a decade as a foster parent to infants and toddlers. I have firsthand experience supporting families through complex and emotionally charged seasons, and across every stage of parenting—from the newborn period through young adulthood. Welcoming my youngest child at age 44 has provided personal insight into the unique joys, challenges, and considerations of parenting later in life. I actively work with children in various roles (because kids are fun!) and had the privilege of homeschooling my children for five years, which strengthened my patience and flexibility. When I’m not supporting families, I enjoy working out at the gym, cooking from scratch, spending time outdoors, and enjoying time with my big, diverse family. I am honored to walk alongside you during this important life transition.

If you are looking for a nurturing, kind, and servant-hearted doula, look no further! Carri was such a blessing to our family as we transitioned from two to three children. My personal needs looked different every day in the postpartum period, and what I loved most about Carri was her genuine “how can I help?” attitude and her willingness to jump in wherever she was needed. From folding laundry, to helping with dinner, to taking the baby off my hands so I could rest or be productive, she truly lightened our load. Carri brings so much wisdom and lived experience to her work. She gently offered ideas and practical solutions I wouldn’t have thought of on my own, always in a way that felt supportive and never pushy. Her insight, and encouragement made such a difference in those early weeks. We are so grateful for her care and would wholeheartedly recommend her to any growing family.

I am a DONA certified postpartum doula and lactation counselor. Specializing in postpartum recovery, lactation, feeding and newborn care. I am also a FSI certified pediatric sleep consultant. I serve families newborn through 6 years of age, and help them navigate a variety of sleep concerns. I work in person and virtually. My services are approved and paid for through Carrot and Progyny.

Recent review

My husband and I worked with Jamie in the fall of 2021, when our first son was born. We chose a 'virtual' package, with options for video calls, phone calls, and texting. This service was exactly what we needed, and I honestly cannot say enough positive things about Jamie in this review. Her constant advocacy for the health and happiness of our son (and therefore his parents!) was incredible, including acknowledgment, understanding, listening, asking questions, and providing thoughtful recommendations (solutions to try) or references (for example to other local providers) for us to use. She even connected us to other parents selling used baby gear to purchase products to try. Knowing she had my back was such a crucial part of our first few months, and now I tell everyone if there's one thing you do for yourself and your baby in the birthing process- it's to hire a postpartum doula. Everyone should be so lucky to have Jamie have their back, available for that phone call or text when you're having your toughest moments. The reassurance is invaluable. For us, we didn't feel we needed someone in our home in person, but we needed that number to call when we had questions, and that's exactly what the virtual package provided. We give Jamie ten stars, not five, and we highly recommend working with her!

Hiring Kristen as our doula was the best thing I did for my pregnancy and birth. She made herself available throughout the final few months of my pregnancy via countless texts and phone calls prepared to answer all the wild questions I had about any symptoms or feelings. When I finally went into labor, none of us knew I’d be in it for a whopping 60 hours before my son was in my arms. I could go on and on about all the things she did to help get my son in an optimal position (there were many) but at the end of the day, she was just there for me. There for me when I thought I’d be having an unmedicated birth center birth. There for me when we had to have a c-section instead. And there for me after while I processed it all. She is amazing and I’d hire her again and again and again.

Liz was absolutely amazing as my midwife during the birth of my first child. Her calm presence and genuine care made the entire experience feel safe and supported. I’ve reached out to her many times since then for guidance on pregnancy, postpartum, nutrition, etc., and she always offers her wisdom with warmth and honesty. In this world where mothers often struggle to feel heard, she has created a special space of comfort, understanding, and compassion ❤️

— Elizabeth S., review of Liz Derry Cox July 2026

Jessica was incredible and absolutely invaluable in my labor/birth experience. She was there for me during my pregnancy and provided many helpful resources to prepare for birth and if she didn't have a recommendation off-hand she would do research & ask other doulas for recommendations which was much appreciated because as a first time mom new to the area I trusted her research and recommendations for things such as local chiropractors and birth classes. Then during my actual labor she was there for me the whole 53 hours. She had prepared a backup doula on-call who was with me for the beginning of my labor and then once Jessica was back from her vacation she immediately came to the hospital to switch out with her backup, showing how much she truly cared about us because she could've just allowed her backup to stay with me during my labor but instead she came and took over! She provided wonderful emotional support and fantastic hands-on physical support. She was also an incredible liaison between us and the staff; advocating for my birth plan/preferences, asking to give me time to make decisions, and giving me trusted counsel based on the suggestions of the hospital staff. I appreciated so much how in tune she was with me and my birth journey, she knew my wishes but also was flexible and pivoted based on the everchanging situations. She also was a great support for my husband and helped guide him through my birth as well. I would definitely recommend Jessica to anyone in need of a doula and I truly believe she helped make my birth experience as positive as possible even though it was far from my ideal experience due to unforeseen circumstances. So thankful for her genuine care and support!

— Katie Tamesis, review of Jessica Parker July 2026

I cannot recommend Liz highly enough. She was my midwife through two births, and I am so grateful for the exceptional care she provided throughout both pregnancies, deliveries, and postpartum recovery. From the very beginning, she was compassionate, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive. She always took the time to answer every question, encouraged me when I needed it most, and made me feel truly cared for every step of the way. Living where we do, Liz was the only midwife available, I truly believe God placed her in our path. The fact that she is a Christian made it even more evident to me that He was guiding our family to exactly the person we needed. As a Christian midwife, Liz's faith was such a blessing to our family. She provided not only exceptional medical care but also spiritual encouragement, compassion, and peace during two of the most important experiences of our lives. Her kindness, integrity, and genuine heart for serving others were evident in every interaction. I am so thankful for Liz and the incredible care she gave our family. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled, compassionate, faith-centered midwife. She made both of my birth experiences so positive, and I will always be grateful for the lasting impact she had on our family.
