Rachel Meakins

15 years of experience
Accepts insurance

Rachel Meakins is a doula, lactation counselor, childbirth educator, newborn care specialist, and maternal health advocate based in Los Angeles. Through her practice, Zenbari, she supports women and families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and the transition into modern motherhood with a calm, highly personalized approach. With a background spanning pre-med studies, psychology, public relations, maternal health coaching, and perinatal education, Rachel brings both emotional depth and practical systems-thinking into her work. She is known for helping families feel informed, steady, and genuinely supported — not only during birth, but throughout the massive physical, relational, and identity shifts that come with becoming a parent. Her care combines evidence-based education with intuitive, real-life support. Clients often work with Rachel for guidance around birth preparation, feeding, newborn care, postpartum recovery, household dynamics, partner communication, and creating sustainable systems that allow mothers to feel more resourced and less overwhelmed during the early months. In addition to her private client work, Rachel works in maternal health education and community advocacy, serves as a Fair Play facilitator, and is a health coach focused on the vaginal microbiome and women’s health across fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum. Her philosophy is that mothers deserve thoughtful, coordinated care that considers the full picture — not just the baby, but the woman, her relationships, her recovery, her nervous system, and the life she is returning to afterward.

Courtney Falcon

4 years of experience

My journey as a labor doula began in 2021, driven by a deep passion for supporting families during one of life’s most transformative moments. With a strong foundation in newborn and infant care since 2015, I feel truly honored to walk alongside parents as they welcome their little ones into the world. My background includes working as a Floortime therapist for children with ASD, serving as an after-school program director, and capturing magical memories as a photographer at Disneyland. Yet, nothing compares to the profound joy of hearing a baby's heartbeat on a monitor and then witnessing their first cries as they enter the world. I am committed to continuous learning and aspire to expand my expertise as a postpartum doula and grief/death doula, ensuring I can provide compassionate care at every stage of the journey.

Recent review

Courtney Falcon was our back up doula for our second child, but it ended up being a great experience and possibly even kismet. We were very lucky to have someone take charge in a warm and loving manner. We felt supported every step of the way. She even stayed many late hours after the birth to help make sure our son was stable and didn't have to go to the NICU. Without her diligence, our child wouldn't have been able to avoid the NICU- she was a godsend. She's extremely knowledgeable, and is always looking to expand her learning. She was always providing us with more resources than we even knew we needed, and not just about babies, but about child/toddler behavior as well. Courtney is also excellent with babies and children, and provided some child care to our family during our times of need. With her previous background working with kids, we felt our kids were in the best of hands. We cannot recommend Courtney Falcon enough to be your doula, please book her today!

I truly can’t imagine those first nine weeks without Lisa. She knows exactly what she’s there for and is incredibly attentive, observant, and always one step ahead. As a first-time mom, those first few weeks felt like the most vulnerable and fragile time of my life. You’re suddenly responsible for this tiny human, but you have no idea what you’re doing. It honestly felt like being dropped into the middle of a huge ocean, just trying to figure out which direction to swim. Lisa was the person I truly depended on during that time. She gave me a sense of direction when I felt completely lost and slowly helped me build the confidence to care for my baby on my own. Even now, months later, I still find myself using so much of what she taught me. What I learned from her during those first weeks has stayed with me long after her time with us ended. Beyond taking care of my baby, Lisa made me feel so genuinely cared for and loved. She truly sees you and listens to you. I always felt safe talking to her and simply being around her, and that meant so much to me during such a vulnerable time. And I HAVE to mention her lactation muffins because they are seriously the best!! Her baking completely satisfied my sweet tooth during those early postpartum weeks. As a huge foodie and someone who appreciates food that is both delicious and nourishing, I loved all the little snacks she would make for me. When you’re breastfeeding and constantly hungry, having someone make you something with so much care honestly feels like such a blessing. Every day before Lisa left, we would come up with a little strategy for how I could get through the rest of the day and night without her. I remember sometimes feeling so overwhelmed by the thought of the night ahead, wondering if I was going to get any sleep. Lisa would always reassure me and remind me, “I’ll be back tomorrow morning to take care of you.” Hearing that helped ease so much of my anxiety. Those first weeks with a newborn are filled with so much uncertainty and unpredictability, and simply knowing she would be back the next morning gave me something to hold onto through the harder nights. I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to have had Lisa be such a big part of this chapter of my life. I will never forget how deeply she cared for both me and my boy. We were so, so well taken care of, and she will always hold such a special place in my heart.

Our experience with Melanie was nothing short of exceptional. Melanie was our NCS from the day our son was born until 6 months of age. She truly operated as the Lead NCS for our household, setting the standard for everyone else and ensuring that everything ran seamlessly. Her level of organization was outstanding. Melanie was always proactive about keeping me informed on anything that needed restocking and made sure our home was consistently well prepared and fully supplied. Melanie’s commitment to hygiene and safety was a huge stand out for us. She maintained the highest standards of cleanliness in caring for our newborn and was incredibly diligent about safe sleep practices at all times, which gave us real peace of mind. Every night, she provided thoughtful, consistent updates so we always knew exactly how our son was doing. Melanie also took the initiative to organize and coordinate the nightly schedule between myself and the other staff, ensuring everyone was aligned and that care was consistent. All of our son’s feeding, sleeping, and changing items were always perfectly organized and ready, making everything feel effortless. Beyond technical skills, Melanie brought a level of professionalism and leadership that elevated our entire household. She truly ran a well-managed, attentive, and calm environment for our son, and we are incredibly grateful for the care and structure she provided during such an important time. We hope to have her back for baby #2!

Hello! My name is Shervande Dorvil, but most people refer to me as Shy. I’m an Overnight Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula in the Los Angeles, CA area who specializes in twins. I currently have eight years of experience providing overnight care for newborns and support to parents. I am a punctual and organized individual who takes pride in the knowledge and guidance I can provide when it comes to children’s developmental milestones. I also have experience with sleep shaping, helping families establish healthy sleep habits so that even after my time with them has ended, parents can continue getting the rest they need. It truly warms my heart to see the impact I make in each new household by giving parents the relief of a night of uninterrupted sleep. I know and understand how difficult it can be to entrust someone with your precious bundle of joy, but I promise that your baby’s safety, comfort, and well-being will always be my highest priority. It takes a village to raise a child. Entrust me to be a part of yours, because I promise you won’t regret it.

So happy I picked Shy to watch my baby boy. Unfortunately, my maternity leave was only about a month, and I knew there was no way I would have been able to continue doing night shifts while working. I found Shy from a referral, and she really helped make my night so much easier! While I still had to wake up for breastfeeding, Shy was there for all the transitions and allowed me to really get the most sleep I could by taking care of literally everything. Even just the fact that my pump parts were always washed and ready to go made life so much easier! Even just watching her holding my baby, I could tell that she truly does care, and just that alone let me know my baby was always in good hands! Once again, thank you so much, Shy, couldn’t have done this without you!

Gina was an amazing support during those first weeks with our newborn! She is an incredibly knowledgeable Newborn Care Specialist and provided exceptional overnight care. Having her there at night gave us the opportunity to finally get some much-needed rest while knowing our baby was in safe, loving, and capable hands. She was wonderful with our baby, attentive to every detail, and very knowledgeable about newborn sleep, feeding, soothing, and establishing healthy routines. She was also an amazing lactation consultant and provided helpful, compassionate guidance with breastfeeding and feeding support. Gina is professional, dependable, caring, and truly understands what new parents need during those exhausting first weeks. We felt completely comfortable having her in our home overnight and would highly recommend her to any family looking for newborn overnight care and lactation support!

We had a very good experience with Emilia. She was caring, gentle, reliable, and extremely attentive to the baby’s needs. Having someone experienced and trustworthy during the night gave us great peace of mind, especially during those first weeks with a newborn. She handled the baby with great care, was attentive to her feeding and sleeping routines, and was always calm and patient. She was also very respectful of our home and our family’s preferences. We truly appreciated her experience, professionalism, and the warmth she showed toward our baby. I would happily recommend her to any family looking for a loving, dependable, and experienced newborn night nanny.

We truly cannot say enough amazing things about Autum Rose! From our very first meeting, she immediately put us at ease. She came to our house for our first meeting, stayed over time, and took the time to explain the entire birth process in so much detail. As first-time parents, this was incredibly helpful and made us feel so much more prepared and confident going into our birth. Little did we know, my water would break that very night! Autum was immediately there to guide us through the next steps and answer all of our questions. She met us at the hospital the following day and stayed with us for over 30 hours. She was there through every moment of our labor, even sleeping on a little bench just to be close by and ready whenever we needed her. She came so prepared with massage tools, different labor positions, room spray, shower gel, and so many other little things that made such a difference. She helped us navigate each stage of labor, provided guidance when we needed it, and helped us have informed and empowered conversations when interventions came up. We always felt supported, heard, and cared for. One of the things we are especially grateful for is that Autum also took photos throughout our labor and birth. Having those moments captured is something we will treasure forever, and we are so thankful that she thought to document such an incredibly emotional and meaningful day for our family. Her care didn’t end when our baby was born, either. Our postpartum visit with Autum was so incredibly healing. Having the time and space to sit down and talk through our birth experience with someone who had been there for every moment meant so much to us. She also brought her massage table and worked on me, helping relieve so much of the tension and soreness I had been carrying. It was such a thoughtful and special part of her care, and we left feeling so supported both physically and emotionally. It is so obvious that Autum truly loves what she does. Her care, passion, patience, and dedication shine through in everything she does. She went above and beyond for us in every possible way, and we feel incredibly lucky that she was the person beside us during such a life-changing experience. We are so incredibly grateful for Autum and everything she did for our family. She made us feel safe, informed, supported, and cared for from the very beginning through postpartum. We will 100% be using her again and cannot recommend her enough to anyone looking for a doula. She is truly one of a kind! ❤️
