I am Isamarys Medina Rivera, a birth and postpartum doula. I was living in Puerto Rico, until my age of 21. I am the youngest daughter of a family of four, composed of a geriatric nurse mom, one older sister and a brick mason dad. Since the beginning of my life, I’ve always had a passion for a career in maternity fields. When I moved to Virginia, I decided that it was time to embrace that passion, especially being surrounded by Hispanic moms who feel vulnerable, because of the language barrier, as well as overwhelming emotions. As a Hispanic military wife, I know how hard can be. And by experience, I know how hard it can be to give birth and have a healthy postpartum, when your military partner is not around.
