Having my son empowered me to help other women have the birth of their dreams. I strive for a smooth, calm process, free from stress, judgement and fear. Whether it be at home, a birth center or hospital, all natural, medicated or planned c-sections, I believe that women should be able to do things their own way. A calling that has been nurtured for 32 years. I began my career with children as a teenage babysitter. I have been fascinated by child development since I was little more than a child myself. Arriving in the USA in 1991 from Barranquilla, Colombia I was immediately employed by Universal Studios Child Care Center. This experience offered a wide range of infants to care for and deepened my desire to advance in my calling as a childcare specialist. It was in my interactions with various parents that I soon realized how what came naturally to me was frightening to some. In a very short time, parents were asking me to provide services outside of the care center. I was helping with establishing baby sleep schedules, nighttime care and creating baby routines for families. In 1998 I had met my birthing doula trainer and mentor Carmen of Gyntle Touch Birth. At Carmen’s recommendation I also became a certified massage therapist from Touch Therapy Institute. Immediately I offered my time as a birthing and prenatal doula to help low-income unwed mothers. This was my way of giving back in gratitude of my being able to pursue my life’s purpose and obtain a vast amount of experience with a diverse group of mothers. Over the last 32 years I have worked with hundreds of families, from birthing babies, preparing hospital care routines and directives, setting up nursery supplies, prenatal doula, lactation coach, night care, postpartum care, pregnancy and baby massage. Along the way I married and was blessed to deliver my own two children, with my mentor Carmen presiding as my birthing doula. A not so well-kept secret is that my husband and I are gourmet chefs, an additional service many families are excited to have made available to them. I consider myself truly blessed in that I am able to share in the most important part of a family. Incredibly, many of the children I have had a hand in raising continue to contact me throughout their life. I have had the wonderfully good fortune to attend many, confirmations, bar & bat mitzvahs, graduations from elementary, Jr. High, High School, College and recently my first Graduate school ceremony. I respect privacy and discretion, am able to travel, provide meal preparation and offer household management services.

In my work as a licensed esthetician, I've spent years helping women feel confident and cared for, and I bring that same calm, nurturing presence to every family I serve. I have always had a passion for working with children and families. I grew up on a small island in the heart of the Florida Keys. From an early age, I began babysitting and nannying. Once I graduated from high school, I decided to major in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology. I earned my bachelor’s degree from Florida State University and returned to the Keys to teach elementary school. For 10 years, I worked with many families and children of different ages and abilities, including those with special needs. During this time, I also began practicing yoga and as cliché as it may sound, yoga changed my life. It has provided me with an outlet to focus the mind, control the breath, and explore and appreciate the body. I decided that I wanted to share the powerful and lasting benefits of this practice with others. I have studied hatha, vinyasa, yoga philosophy, meditation, standup paddleboard yoga, and pregnancy + postnatal yoga. It was during my pregnancy + postnatal yoga training that I became interested in becoming a doula. I felt compelled to find a way to provide much needed support for individuals and families before, during, and after birth. I decided then, to pursue a new life and career path. I trained through DONA International to become a certified birth and postpartum doula. I have taken various additional trainings such as Body Ready Method®, Spinning Babies® workshops, rebozo techniques, LGBTQ+ family equality, Spinning Babies® certified parent education, basics of breastfeeding, and infant first aid and CPR. I am committed to using my experience, knowledge, and ability to hold space to provide unbiased informational, emotional, and physical support that empowers you to make the right choices for yourself and your family.

I entered the world of birth work in 2016, and have been focused on expanding my skill set to better support families ever since. I became licensed in California in 2023, and plan to continue pursuing a deeper knowledge of birth as I serve my community. I gave birth to my son in June of 2023, and am deeply thankful for the gift of motherhood and the ability to care for my child. I have always been someone who loves to take care of others. For family and friends, I was the one they’d call in an emergency, when someone is passing, when life decisions were being made. I went to college to become a nurse because I wanted to ensure I had a career where I could support people. God works in mysterious ways and I wasn’t able to apply for the nursing program at the college I went to. I had decided to get a degree in Health Systems Management and later, to do the accelerated nursing program. Plans don’t typically work on the way you dream and I found myself two kids later, 1 year too late, unable to apply for the accelerated nursing program. During this season, I had Andrew, our child that wasn’t birthed with the support of a doula, and I knew, being a doula was my answer. I’ve had felt unseen, unheard and unimportant when I was giving birth and I wanted to make sure that didn’t happen to others. I’m often get introduced as “Doula Jenn” and, I love it. I don’t just doula people through childbirth, I support through life. Parenthood is hard, marriages are hard, finding connection with friends is hard and I want to come alongside you in life. I’m an active member of the High Vibe Mom Tribe and I host virtual book clubs several times a year to support women through their marriages.
