I also know that asking for help, especially during the transition to parenthood, is one of the bravest and most vulnerable things a person can do. My role as a postpartum doula is to come alongside families during this tender season, helping them identify their unique needs and supporting them as they grow into their new roles. One of the greatest gifts I can offer is helping families feel more rested, confident, and resourced. I approach each family with care and curiosity, always honoring their culture, beliefs, values, hopes, and goals. By centering your family’s identity, I can help support a home that truly reflects who you are. At this time, I provide overnight postpartum care exclusively. ⸻ About Me As a mother to a vivacious pre-teen, I’ve experienced both the profound joys and the very real challenges of motherhood. While my kiddo and I are happy and healthy today, our early years were marked by unexpected hospital stays, long periods of solo parenting, and eventually the work of building a successful co-parenting relationship. These experiences shaped me deeply and ignited my passion for supporting families navigating recovery, mental health challenges, past trauma, limited support systems, and complex family dynamics. When I gave birth in 2013, I had no idea postpartum doula support even existed. I believed new parents were simply supposed to figure it out on their own, and if they struggled, it meant they were failing. I now know how UNTRUE and harmful that belief can be. My mission is to ensure families know that support is available, and that they were never meant to do this alone. Before becoming a postpartum doula, I spent more than 20 years working as a nanny and childcare provider and earned an associate degree in pre-education. Four years ago, a friend introduced me to postpartum doula work, a role I had never heard of, but instantly knew was meant for me. Within weeks, I began my training, and I’ve never looked back. I wake up every day feeling grateful to do work that is meaningful, supportive, and deeply aligned with who I am. As a lifelong night owl who spent years trying to fit into a morning-person world, I’ve finally found my calling providing overnight postpartum care during my natural “prime time” hours. Born and raised in Portland, Oregon, I’ve been happily married to my best friend and biggest cheerleader for over three years. Together, we’ve blended our family with my kiddo and his son. Now that our children are older, we share a passion for travel, curiosity, and fully experiencing the world around us. After years of letting life pass by, I now make a conscious effort to savor experiences (big and small) as they come. I'm a former licensed teacher that followed my passion to change my 17 year side job of childbirth education and birth doula work into a full time career. It started with earning my credentials as a childbirth educator from the Seattle Midwifery School and teaching in Portland area hospitals but morphed into doing birth doula work as people I met invited me to be part of their births. I like to say I fell into birth doula work unintentionally, but it ignited a passion to do it all that I could (while raising young children, teaching kindergarten part time, and teaching childbirth prep. WHEW! Those were busy years!) Fast forward to 2022, when I became an empty nester (letting both my scientist and my opera singing daughters fly!) and made the decision to leave the classroom and pursue birth doula work and childbirth education.
