My love of childbirth was ignited after the birth of my first daughter.  I was blessed with continuous support during my own birth experience and knowing the difference it made for me, I was inspired to be a part of a community of women helping each other through the most transformative and empowering moment of their lives.  My journey began focused on midwifery; however, after learning of doula work and the direct, personal impact it can have on a woman’s birth story, I knew this path was a better fit for me.  As a student of Mother Tree Birth Services, I completed a DONA approved birth doula training in 2014, followed by a 6-month intensive birth doula internship. I support all types of birth in all settings. I’m trained in Hypnobirth, the Mongan Method as well as traditional natural birth methods in addition to planned epidural birth. I will support your choices as if they were my own.

The fullness of my life has been centered around children and maternal care and learning about herbs and how they support a natural lifestyle. I have been a childcare provider, prenatal to youth (special needs included for years past 18 years of age), for over 30 years. My decision to become a doula, and eventually to become a midwife, has been in the works throughout my life. I have been influenced by other doulas and midwives from the East and West Coast, with a predominance of this influence happening when I was in North Carolina. My mission is to ensure that mothers, and mothers-to-be have the resources, knowledge, and care needed to ensure the healthy births of their children, as well as knowledge of how to care for their newborns and older children. I have experience as a nutritional specialist (chef), well-baby care, well-Mama care, and family care and pre-and post-birth dynamics.

Marnellie Bishop (she/her) is a certified birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator. Marnellie has additional training as a Hypnobabies® Instructor & Hypno-Doula. She also serves the Portland, OR community as a board member and Chief Finance & Operations Officer at Community Doula Alliance. Prior to pursuing her passion to support families on their perinatal journey, Marnellie completed a Bachelors degree in Business Administration and used her degree to help grow and sell her family’s printing company. As a 2nd generation immigrant to Filipino parents, Marnellie understands the intersectionality that many immigrant families face when it comes to identifying their parenting styles through the lens of their cultural background and today’s parenting values. Through her work as a community member, doula and childbirth educator, Marnellie seeks to help growing families feel empowered and confident in their unique journey through parenthood. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and creating fun, funky art for her yard. After years of working with toddlers and families in daycare and outreach programs, Tallina discovered her passion for birth work. Following her training and certification, she went from being curious about birth to being utterly in love with the science and magic behind it. When I gave birth to my children I was able to do 6 of them unmedicated and all were delivered vaginally with no significant damage to my lady parts. All a testament to good education, faith, and great, knowledgeable caregivers. I would love to work with clients who are seeking this kind of birth.
