Hi! I’m Jill, owner of Birth Blessings Doula Services, LLC. My interest in becoming a doula started with my first pregnancy and birth journey. I was 29 years old when I became pregnant with my first child, and I quickly realized how much I LOVED everything relating to pregnancy and childbirth. My birth didn’t go as “planned” and my first baby was born via cesarean. As amazing and supportive as my husband was, looking back I realized how helpful it would have been, for both of us, to have non-hospital staff to guide us through our labor and delivery. Someone that would answer questions, help us know our choices in a non-biased manner, remind us of our plan when we needed reminding, and to offer emotional support when our plan took a detour. I knew that someday I wanted to work with pregnant women and families to help in that way. Fast-forward 16 years, four VBACs, and one miscarriage and here I am: fulfilling the calling the Lord placed on my life by becoming a certified doula supporting other mamas! Being a doula isn’t just my job, but my passion! I enjoy learning about all things pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. I am always on the lookout for new training and certifications to expand my knowledge and allow me to better help my clients. It is an honor to work with families in the most miraculous times in their lives. Hello! My name is Lauren, the hands on and heart led birth and postpartum doula in Durham Region. I'm also a big homebody who loves to read, craft my own tea blends, make natural skincare products and candles, and spend time in nature as much as possible. Becoming a doula felt like stepping into a path that was already laid out for me. I have always felt a fierce protection for other women, and connected easily and deeply with the women in my life. Combined with my interest in herbal healing and natural remedies, my previous work with and love for children and babies, my need to feed everyone I love home cooked, nourishing meals, and my interest in birth & the medical system, I realized that I already was a doula, I just needed to take the leap onto the path.   Early in 2025, I completed a 10 day doula training retreat in Costa Rica, which was a beautiful way to begin my new career.
