Julie Sanders

Hello. I'm Julie Sanders (she/her), a birth and postpartum doula who has supported families on their journey into parenthood for nearly a decade through Awakening Mother Holistic Birth and Wellness. I am also a yoga and meditation teacher and sound healing practitioner passionate about the journey into and through motherhood. I specialize in birth preparation, focusing on inner work, communication, education, bodywork, and balancing for an efficient birth and optimal fetal positioning, including dynamic movement, to support a natural labor and birth process. My postpartum care focuses on rejuvenating the mind, body, and spirit using healing foods and herbs, vibrational medicine, breath work, mindfulness, and daily self-care practices; honoring rest, and family bonding. I personalize my offerings for a deeply "centered" approach to preparing for the journey ahead, inviting exploration into one's deep ancestral wisdom and intuitive insight into and through this transformative time. When not actively supporting aspiring, pregnant, and new parents or deepening my practice, you can find me with my hands in the earth, gardening in my backyard, or spending time with her family and our mischievous beagle named Moon. I would love to connect and learn more about your path and explore ways I may fully support you during this very special time in your life.

Service: Labor and Birth Doula Context: Father, 2nd Child, 1st at-home birth Despite our preparations, our first birth taught us that we can always know, prepare, and expect more. We met Julie in our doula interviews early in our preparations, and with our first home-birth, we knew we needed someone with the knowledge to build our trust, the confidence to direct when needed, and the serenity to alleviate our anxieties. Julie brought every one of those to the table, and more! During our first birth, I couldn't help but feel like a third-wheel, understanding key parts of the birth, but serving mostly as an observer, with the occasional comforting words. In preparation for our 2nd, Julie offered both live Q&As, and preparatory, informative, and engaging classes, which helped prepare not only my wife, but myself in both what to expect and how to engage with each part of the birth. Rather than only observing, or waiting for direction, I became an active participant, predicting and understanding my wife's needs, while also being able to adapt as needed. As labor's frequently do, ours started late in the night, and with a quick call, Julie assessed the situation and determined to come over to help, even in the early stages. As a doula, she helped guide us into active labor, recognizing when we hit hurdles, and confidently and calmly discussed alternative positions and practices. Serving not only as doula, she frequently provided updates that would help our midwife determine how far along we were, and stayed by Laura's side through delivery! In the interest of time, I'll end with an appreciation of Julie's ability to frequently bridge the gap when all the participants became a little too single-minded; Julie would swoop in, suggesting breaks, and even cooking up some delicious meals! Even afterwards, Julie visited and brought a smorgasbord of home-cooked foods, taking the weight off of running a household, and letting my wife, my children, and myself, take time to simply be with each other. Thank you so much, Julie, for not only being what my wife needed, but helping me to be the same! P.S. For the Mother's perspective, Laura's review should post soon!

Kendall was an absolute god-send during our pregnancy and birth journey. As first time parents, we felt SO lost starting our pregnancy journey. The lack of dedicated support in the system was so apparent right away, and we began our search to find the compassion , emotional support and care we needed , esp for me as a first time mom! Our first discussion with Kendall made us feel so comfortable and like there was such a personal connection , Kendall was so knowledgeable and so committed to ensuring that I would have the support I needed thru every step of my pregnancy and post-partum. She was someone that I immediately knew I could trust and be comfortable around and want her there with me every step of the way, including during my delivery. Kendall provided support and assistance throughout my pregnancy beyond what I could have ever imagined. As someone who had an extremely difficult pregnancy with several hospitalizations, Kendall was there for our family every step of the way, helping us find new care when things with our existing provider weren’t going well, being by our side with several hospital stays and going out on a limb to be a vocal advocate for what was always best for me and our baby. Kendall went above and beyond after so many unexpected turns in our birth story, spent dedicated time visiting our baby in the NiCU at a moments notice when we delivered prematurely in an emergency situation, and was constantly there as a sounding board, resource , and 24-7 support system for our entire family. We have never felt so comfortable being open and honest with someone as we were with Kendall!! She is so passionate about her work, her families and the moms in her care, and it shows!! Whether we had a perfect pregnancy or one filled with the challenges and scares our family faced, We can’t imagine doing it or going through the journey without Kendall. You never know what resources you may need until you need them, and Kendall was there with us every step of the way. She will forever be a part of our family and our story, and we will be forever grateful for her. -The Schafferer’s: Lindsey , Marco and Marcel (our 35 week angel babe!)

Georgia Torkelson

First, I am a Christian; a follower of Jesus, and I believe in the miracle of life and the privilege of pregnancy, birth and motherhood as a natural and normal process. I am a certified birth doula through DONA International. My experience has been on the labor & delivery floor at Denver Health as a volunteer and staff doula, and I have supported 6 private births in the past year. I am looking to gain more experience as a private doula, specifically in the birth center and home birth settings, that is why I do not list hospital births as an option. In my private business I'm interested in working with women and their families that want to put in the work required to have an empowering and positive natural childbirth experience when there is no option for an epidural. By that I mean those who have taken classes such as Lamaze, Birthing from Within, Hypnobirthing and Hypnobabies or watched videos on natural childbirth from sources like Bridget Teyler or Mama Natural on YouTube. In addition , those that are committed to the regular exercises, routines and preparations that I believe are necessary for a birthing experience that won't leave you feeling traumatized. That's not to say a woman cannot decide on a natural experience, do no prep work and still have a positive birth without an epidural, because I've seen it happen, but it's rare. If you want to put in the work for a pregnancy and birth that will change how you understand yourself, your health inside and out, and give you a life long dose of empowering confidence that only the miracle of life can provide than please consider me as your doula to support that journey. I am happy to support families with multiple prenatal visits, birth, and a postpartum visit at the time of your choosing. Thank you for your consideration and congratulations!

Georgia was extremely kind, very knowledgeable, patient and I would recommend her services to anyone. She helped with providing back massages, options that I had during my labor and comforted me in times of distress.

Making the investment to have supported Postpartum care, especially from an Ayurvedic perspective was not just exactly what I had wished for, but I cannot FATHOM a greater gift for the health of our newborn child. I felt like a peaceful, supported, and loved Momma through the whole process which truly allowed me to be the most present with our newborn. Emily is an actual angel on earth. I only wish that every single birthing person had this type of postpartum support. Our little one is now 5 months old and I believe WHOLE-HEARTEDLY that his gentle, calm, and happy disposition is a result of the care and safety that I felt postpartum which allowed me to be fully present with him. Emily worked diligently and silently doing all of the big and little things that afforded us as a new family the maximum amount of time together to just marinate in our little love bubble. I didn't have to think (EVER) about what I was going to eat, or if I had hydrated enough, about eating the right things etc. Not only was my belly nourished, but she helped with postpartum massage, belly wrapping, provided a listening ear, and left me with so many helpful herbs, tinctures, and magical Ayurvedic potions. I am forever grateful for my time spent with Emily who I am sure will now be a lifelong friend. Thank you Emily! Infinitely! Your gift is something undeniable. We are FOREVER grateful. I’m beyond grateful for Kayli’s presence during the birth of our twin boys. Though this was my third pregnancy, Kayli renewed my sense of empowerment and knowledge about birth. She didn’t just bring experience but she brought a deep understanding of birth as part of God’s design. This encouraged me to trust my body’s ability and make choices rooted in faith. And by God’s grace, I was able to deliver our twins vaginally + unmedicated.  When doctors' demands created a sense of urgency around birth of our boys, Kayli coached me beforehand, giving me the confidence to pause, reflect and make intentional decisions.  During labor, Kayli and my husband worked in tandem for hours ensuring I was never without support. This constant teamwork and extra set of hands (!!) helped me through the toughest moments. Given the risks of twin deliveries, I was prepared for an OR birth. When we entered that bright, sterile room, fear took over. But in the brief moments between the births, Kayli ensured the doctors allowed me to hold my baby before he was taken away, offering me the strength to deliver our second just 14 minutes later. Her intuition in that moment was unforgettable.  Following births, when I faced mild hemorrhaging and my husband was with the babies in the NICU, Kayli stayed by my side during the overwhelming medical attention, she remained calm, and a steady source of comfort. What truly sets Kayli apart is her deep heart of service, empathy, and respect for mom and baby. She doesn’t just support the birth, she offers care through every step of the journey into motherhood. Her compassion shines in every interaction. If you’re seeking a doula, Kayli is the perfect choice. I’m forever grateful for her role in bringing our babies into the world and confident that she will offer the same extraordinary support to every family fortunate enough to have her by their side.

Hey there, I’m Carly, the heart and hands behind Sol Shine Doula Services. My path to birth work started with my own first birth experience—long, unsupported, and ending in a home birth transfer. Named after my first child’s middle name, Sol Shine was born from a deep desire to provide families with the warmth, knowledge, and care I once wished for. Now, I dedicate my work to ensuring no birthing person feels alone in their journey.

We found Carly very last minute, and I was honestly on the fence about whether or not I wanted to hire a doula. But after meeting with her, we instantly felt comfortable and knew she was the right fit. She’s kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly thoughtful in her approach. Carly took the time to ask important questions and was sensitive to both past trauma and my neurodivergence, which made me feel seen and supported right from the start. Having her available throughout the tail end of my pregnancy to answer questions was invaluable. I wish we would have found her sooner so I could have benefited from her support and guidance for more of my pregnancy. When it came time for the birth of our first child, I can’t imagine having done it without her. She helped create the calm, peaceful environment I had hoped for and supported both my husband and me as we navigated the hospital experience. During labor, she was there for my husband as much as she was for me—gently guiding him on how best to support me and offering him reassurance, too. Carly made the entire experience feel grounded, warm, and empowering. We’re so grateful we had her by our side.

I'm Hannah, a birth and postpartum doula serving families across Northern Colorado. I've supported families through pregnancy, birth, and the weeks after, most of them in hospitals and birth centers. More than half had high-risk conditions like severe preeclampsia. My approach is evidence-based and grounded in informed consent. I give you real information, not a personal agenda, so you can make decisions that feel right for you. I work alongside your doctor or midwife, never in place of them. Now I also offer daytime postpartum support in your home: feeding help, recovery check-ins, newborn care, and time for you to rest, shower, and eat. I don't offer overnights. I accept Health First Colorado (Medicaid), CHP+, and TriWest, plus HSA and FSA. Cost should never be the reason you go without support.

I just wanted to take a big thank you and recommend my birthing doula to anyone who needs that extra support during their pregnancy! Hannah Hosey is so sweet and really cares about you and your birthing experience. She consistently checked on me the couple of months I had her. She was there to answer any question I had and literally would respond the second I needed advice about my pregnancy. And I went into a VERY fast labor where I checked into the hospital and had my baby girl within a 40 minutes of being there and she arrived there literally in like 20 minutes. She made a very intense situation for me a lot calmer. Her energy is just so caring and great! I’m happy I have met her! 🫶♥️

Having Ellen by our side throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum was such a gift. The time we spent preparing for birth with Ellen was incredibly helpful and supportive, leaving us feeling more grounded, informed, and empowered. During the birth itself, her calm, compassionate presence and unwavering advocacy allowed us to feel deeply cared for and supported, while also allowing my partner to be more present in the experience. It is an experience I will forever hold with so much reverence and gratitude. Ellen continued to be such a gift in the postpartum period, offering care and support during a tender and transformative time. We are so grateful for Ellen and the role she played in welcoming our son into the world and supporting our family as we began this new transformative life chapter.
