Tracy's passion for serving and nurturing people goes way back to childhood. While she often said she wanted to be a waitress when she grew up, she absolutely loved babies and simply wanted to be a mommy - little did she know the 2 were synonymous! Fast forward to adulthood where, thanks to reality TV shows, she became an armchair birth expert. Only to find out with her first pregnancy and birth that she really knew nothing. After having her second baby, she stumbled across doula work and realized how beneficial a supportive birth professional could be, thus realizing her true passion in life (finally!!) Nurturer + passionate about birth + love of babies = the perfect mix for doula work! Tracy is a Certified Childbirth Educator, Birth Doula & Postpartum Doula. Hi my name is Madi, and I’m a mixed Acadian/Migmaw birth and end-of-life doula in the Edmonton area. I decided to become a birth worker and end-of-life doula because I believe every single person deserves an advocate. Every person deserves autonomy and the right to make decisions. Every person should be allowed access to traditional medicines. Trained through DONA, I have practiced as a birth worker for about two years. I have serviced births in every Edmonton hospital, and I have experience with at home water births. Birthing to me is a sacred act that should be seen as just that - sacred. It is beautiful, incredibly difficult, joyful and life-changing. When it comes to my end-of-life, I have been certified as an Indigenous End of Life doula via Lifting Their Minds End-of-Life Indigenous Doula Training.
